I think we should be thankful for what we have.

Hating your country isn't bad, everyone is free to their own opinions. And government is the country since they tend to have more control than the general public. I disspise all forms of government as they always become corrupt because a small group/one person should not have control over a whole nation. Some governments are highly strict and control their people who live there to keep their power and make themselves grow at the cost of many. I consider the US a controlled democracy. They like to say we have many freedoms but they also keep many things out of the public eye and can take away your rights if they feel it necessary. They say it's to "protect the public", but I think it's to protect themselves. The US is one of the more favored countries cause we have many more rights and freedoms. One race/gender/sexuality will always be favored over others; this is true for all nations.

Hating one's country... This is a loaded topic, isn't it? ... First off, let it be known that I am, overall, fairly patriotic in my personal views. Also, note that that is my personal view and I will attempt to not let it to skew my answer. I only note this because I am slightly biased, as anyone with a working intellect is (to one side or the other of course, I'm not saying my side is the one you should be biased to). ... I do think in certain aspects to hate your country. I see it about the same as I see a child hating their parent. I see it as disrespectful and somewhat nonsensical. There are factors that would make this a rational hatred, but I don't see any reason why one should hate their country during a period in which the US currently finds itself. ... It is rational to hate, or at least dislike, one's government. I don't mean that anarchy is a positive measure, but I clearly see how the decision making abilities of only a handful of people would fall short of satisfying the whole. Then again, the purpose of the government isn't to satisfy the whole, its to satisfy the majority. Our government is corrupt and it is inefficient, but government itself is imperfect. This imperfection is caused by the human condition and is, in essence, unavoidable. People are greedy. People can be ruthless. People typically don't care about other people. An individual may care, but people as a whole do not. ... I hate to use this, but people in America are far better off than most people anywhere else. The majority of our population have homes. The majority have food. The majority have jobs. The majority are paid a decent wage (minimum is decent is comparison to most foreign wages). In many other countries, you really can't say the same thing. Some countries have better policies than us. As noted before, the English get free internet. Some countries have polices that appear better than ours. The Canadian health care system for one. Many countries have restrictive and, quite simply, un-American policies that are generally inconceivable to the common man in how horrible they really are. I'm not saying America is perfect. Far from it, actually. I am saying America is a relively good place to live if you can handle the constant presence of the Church of the Almighty Dollar. ... Money. Money makes the world go round nowadays, doesn't it? It seems like anyone will do anything to get it. In some cases this is true. Money has been the falling point of many human values over the years and will continue to be as such. I really can't say anything about this, however, because I am a devout member of the CotAD. I'm not so far gone that my morals are completely clouded, but I see a lot more gray than I did when I was younger. ... Backstepping a bit, people have spoken a great deal about the presidency. First off, the president isn't a dictator. The president can't determine everything. Actually, many of the powers of government fall to Congress. The president acts more as a figure-head and a fail-safe for Congress than anything else. George Bush was not a terrible president. I said it. He wasn't a great president. He wasn't even a good president. I'd have to say Bush falls in the mediocre category. Many of the problems we faced during the Bush administration, aside from those resulting from the war, were results of a slow build-up of events long before Bush ever entered office. Obama appears as though he will be a good president to fix some of these problems, but some of the "fixing" has to fall on the previous administration if you consider the build-up things like our bureaucracy and economy require before a reaction is seen. Despite being about 65% Republican in my views, I approve of Obama's administration and I hope for, and expect, a good 4-8 years out of him. ... Angel. I don't know what has happened to you over the course of your six years of life (heh) to make you hate our country. I can't claim to perceive the world as you do. I also can't say my perception of matters are superior in any way to yours. I'm glad you voiced yourself, however. Nothing ever changes amongst the silent masses. It takes strong people, willing to stand up with a desire for something greater to change our world. Don't let the fury in your words die, no matter what people say. You have asked our opinion. I gave you mine and respect yours. I hope you don't find anything I said to be insulting, as it was never intended that way. I'm sorry you hate your country, though. I'm sorry its in such a state that it could inspire anyone born and raised within its borders to hate it. Such is the imperfection of man and, as you said, that's a topic for later.

I found a reason today to hate our government. My teacher lost aprox $8,000 of flood damages and he has federal flood insurance. He got a call today from them saying that they can't give him the money because he makes too much money. Then the arguement is, his neighbor got $22,000 from them because his boat got wet? There was no damages on the boat! HELLO GOVERNMENT, WHAT DO YOU THINK BOATS ARE FOR???
My teacher does make money, but when you live in this place, our fuel is over $5.00 per gallon and our food prices are high. I think our government needs to get more brains.

I don't think it's wrong. I hate my country because of the terrible politics, taxes, competition, weather, recession, I could name hundreds.

I don't hate any country. I actively dislike certain aspects of most countries. Hating any nation as a whole is not worth my energy.

I love this country. But there are just things that need to be fixed, that's all.
