(Chapter 11: Crystal Lake)
The sight underneath the pit was one of the most beautiful things The Smashers had ever seen. Crystals were lined up against the walls. There were thousands of them, shining beautifully in the light. It was truly a sight to behold.
“I haven’t seen anything this beautiful in a while,” Ness remarked.
They found themselves standing in a square room, with two paths they could go: One path was right in front of them, the other was to their right. They took the path in front of them, and headed down a slim hallway, gazing at the many crystals on the wall. When the slim hall ended, they were in another square room, and on the wall was a large opening. They headed inside and found themselves in yet another square room.
It gets rather redundant and boring from here, so grab a coffee or something to keep you awake and or interested. Seriously.
To their left was a small path which lead to another square room. There wasn’t another path to take, so they took it and hit another square room. To their right was a longer pathway, which lead to another square room with another path in front of them.
“Now I see why this game got such mediocre reviews,” Ike pointed out.
Taking the path, they found yet another hole in a wall, which took them into the next room. This room, however, was different. Instead of having blue crystals as the main décor, there were now red crystals. As such, the cave now appeared to be red instead of blue.
There were 4 paths for them to choose from, one for each direction. They took the southern path and turned left at the branching path, which took them into another large room with a large gaping hole.
Instead of entering into a large square room like usual, the hole took them straight into a hallway.
...Dear god, this is boring.
Anyway, as they headed down the hallway, they came across another split path.
“Well, which one should we take?” Sonic asked.
Mario just so happened to have a coin in his pocket and flipped it.
“We go right,” the plumber said.
They took the right path, and it took them to a large square room, with a large opening in one of the walls. This took them into another room, and the colour of the crystals had changed yet again to a lime green colour.
...I can’t take how boring this is. Maybe you, the reader, are enjoying it?
“So, to try and throw some non-boring stuff out there,” Meta Knight began. “Two guys walk into a bar. You think one of them would’ve seen it!”
“Dude, seriously, that was terrible,” Ike replied. “What do you call a Japanese man who looks like a woman?”
“A very, very confused Jap?” Red asked.
“No, Sakurai!”
Everyone groaned at Ike’s terrible joke. It was rather hard to find humor in anything for two reasons:
1) They were lost in a cave.
2) Marth is dead.
Because this chapter is really boring me, and because it’s not meant to be all that long, I’m just gonna fast forward to five minutes in the future, where they finally find Crystal Lake, home of the Pokemon Azelf.
“Well, I don’t think there’s any way out of this cave,” Red said. “All we found was a lake.”
“Wait, I know this place,” Pikachu said. “I’ve been here before...Oh! I remember now! I went here once before with my partner, a Piplup, to prevent the Time Gear here from being stolen.”
“Ah, Pikachu...” A voice said. “So, you have returned.”
From the water rose a blue Pokemon with two tails; it was none other than Azelf.
“Azelf, long time no see!” Pikachu said excitedly.
“It’s been awhile, Pikachu. What have you returned for?”
Pikachu said, “Well, we didn’t exactly return. We fell into this pit... we’ve been looking for a way out. But, I must ask, surely you are aware of what’s been going on in the world, yes?”
“Yes, Pikachu. I am aware. Unfortunately, I cannot help you physically...but, I do know the secret to defeating Zero.”
“Y-you do?!” Mario spat. “What is it?!”
“Ever since your journey began, I have kept a close watch on Zero; from your first battle with Giga Bowser, to his recruitment of Mewtwo, to the death of your good friend Marth. He is obviously a powerful fiend and is a threat to us all. The secret to defeating him lies in his own existence. The secret to defeating him is...your own demise.”
“I’m sorry; I must have wax in my ear. Can you repeat that, please?” Mario asked.
“The secret to defeating Zero is your own demise,” Azelf repeated. “Allow me to explain. Zero’s power is at its full potential. Because he knows all of your attacks, and because you are the heroes of Planet Nintendo, he cannot become any more powerful than he already is. They key here is Mario. If he kills Mario, and drains his energy, the overload should be enough to destroy him.”
“Why Mario, though?” Link asked.
“Mario is the most powerful Nintendonian. I think that explains enough.”
“I refuse to accept that the method you just spat out will defeat Zero,” Meta Knight said.
“I am sorry to say that it’s the only sure-thing that can eliminate him... I will now send you back from where you came...I’d rather not get deeper in to this.”
In a flash of light, The Smashers all appeared on the surface, just beside the pit.
...And I’m amazed that this chapter was almost 3 pages.
