PERSONALITY
Adding a new unstable essence to Maelys' powers causes an unholy distortion in his personality and powers. He becomes the very mirror image of Oblivion, becoming wildly chaotic in his actions, no given method to his madness.
SPECIAL ATTACKS
Attack Name: Shadow Blast
Description: Get out of my sight, mortals!
A focused explosion of Dark energy that causes a repulse effect, forcing enemies within the blast radius away from Maelys. The attack deals moderate damage, and will break the guard of anyone hit at point blank range, that is, anyone a foot in front of him. A Light version can also be used, in which it causes burning radiant damage and passes through non-magical blocks, but deals slightly less damage. This attack can also be used all the way around the user, but without the point blank modifier.
Effect: A forward focused explosion of Dark energy, forcing enemies back. Guarding enemies will take less knockback. Point blank range doubles the damage at within a foot in front. Max range of the explosion is ten feet.
Variant 1 Effect: Light version. No point blank damage, weaker than original but pierces non-magical guards.
Variant 2 Effect: All around the user. No point blank damage.
Attack Name: Dark Rend
Description: BURN IN HELL!!
Choosing a surface within range, Maelys sends a surge of Dark energy to a particular spot and detonates it, causing a meta-physical eruption of Darkness. Picking a spot within 25 feet of him, he can channel Dark energy to said spot and cause it to erupt from the surface. The surface can be of any orientation, as long as he has at least a foot in diameter to store the energy. This can be utilized as a Light spell, or as a charging active spark.
Effect: Maelys picks a flat 1 ft wide surface to place an invisible Dark charge on. The charge lights up, signaling it's existence, and one second later detonates violently with Dark energy, causing moderate damage.
Variant 1 Effect: Rend can be used as a Light spell with no change to it's effects besides the change in element.
Variant 2 Effect: Instead of a spot, Maelys can launch an active surge that visibly travels along the ground, building up power as it goes. Maelys can detonate it at any time, but the further it goes, the stronger it will be. It will automatically detonate at max power upon reaching the 25 ft mark. If the line hits a cliff that Maelys cannot see, it will detonate on the edge, but if it hits a corner where Maelys can continue to see the spark and it remains within his range, it will continue moving along the new surface. Even if the spark stays within Mae's range infinitely, it will not proceed past the 25 ft power max. Maelys must retain focus to keep the spark moving. At full power it deals heavy damage.
Attack Name: Snare
Description: You're mine!
From his shadow spring tendrils of darkness that travel along the floor, seeking out enemies to attack. They can spring up out of the ground around an opponent to immobilize them. The vines can sieze a grounded opponent with ease, but while airborn opponents are not out of reach, they are harder to catch, as the vines must spring out of the ground and ascend, giving the entity time to evade.
Effect: For the first two turns, the Shadow Vines can only be broken by a heavy attack, a potentially difficult feat for an immobilized target. On the third turn they can be broken by any attack. Once used, the vines travel in a mostly straight path, allowing for slight angle adjustment, but not enough to catch an evading opponent. Furthermore, blasting intense light on them will disintegrate the vines at any stage. Three opponents can be siezed at a time this way, and Maelys must be standing on the ground, not flying or even hovering.
Variant Effect: Any number of tendrils can be launched at the enemy, and can be aimed any direct once launched, however this move requires such concentration that Maelys cannot use any other moves whil siezing opponents this way. They retain their weakness to intense light sources, but they require a heavy attack to break free from.
Attack Name: White Dust
Description: Not even close!
A wall of Light energy is forged from thin air before an attacker to intercept an attack. The max range is 10 feet from Maelys, and if the wall is struck by melee or ranged attack, it will shatter into neddle-like dust fragments and rush at the enemy, dealing counter damage. Alternatively, this can be used as purely defensive at up to 25 feet away, or even a wall of Dark energy that behaves differently.
Effect: A wall of Light appears briefly to block incoming attacks. If struck, it deals back double damage as counter damage. The wall has a max range of 10 feet from Maelys
Variant 1 Effect: The wall can be used up to 25 feet away, usable to protect allies and his Sentinels, lasting a bit longer, but loses it's counter status.
Variant 2 Effect: The wall is of Dark energy instead, and only counters if struck by Melee attacks, mitigating ranged attack damage slightly. If the counter succeeds, it will deal triple damage, four times if in Twilight shift.
Attack Name: Blank Beam
Description: The darkness will pierce even your dreams.
A beam of energy is charged momentarily before being blasted at the enemy. At higher charges, it will pierce enemies and non-magical barriers.
Effect: Maelys charges a beam of Dark energy for up to two turns and fires beam the next turn. With no charge, it deals basic damage, with one turn of charging, it deals medium damage and can be blocked but not reflected back, and with two posts of charge and launching on the third post, the beam does cataclysmic damage, causing a heavy explosion around whatever it hits within a ten ft radius. The beam cannot be moved or turned once charging has begun.
Variant 1 Effect: The beam can also be Light energy, piercing without any charge and eliminating said barrier, but dealing half damage. The strongest charge will also not cause an explosion.
Variant 2 Effect: The beam can be charged with a single post posts, and then stored in his hand. The beam can then be fired instantly at any time within five posts. If six posts pass from the post after it was charged, the been dissipates. This beam deals medium damage.
Attack Name: Commander of Twilight
Description: Armies of Light and Darkness! Come forth and cleanse the land of these fools!
Maelys uses the power of the artifact blades to summon warriors of light and darkness. These warriors manifest as four ft tall entities of total Light energy or Dark energy, equipped with either spear or shortsword. Up to twenty may be present at a time.
Effect: Summon Order: Once per turn, Maelys may summon up to five Radiant Warriors or Shadow Warriors. These warrors deal light damage once per warrior per turn, and can be destroyed by an attack of any power. Mae's human form can create both Radiant and Shadow Warriors, while Twilight form can only create Radiant Warriors, and Shadow form can only summon Shadow Warriors.
Variant 1 Effect: Defend Order: Maelys fuses warriors of one element to create a powerful barrier around him that lasts for as many attacks as warriors used. This barrier can also be destroyed by one heavy attack if fewer than five warriors were used, otherwise it counts as eliminating five defense points. Anything stronger will deal nine points of damage to the barrier. Radiant and Shadow Warriors cannot be combined together, only warriors of the same element can be combined. Neither this order nor Summon Order can be used for five turns after the barrier is destroyed. Two Shadow Sentinels or two Radiant Sentinels can combined to count as a ten point barrier called an Absolute Barrier. Ten warriors of a single element can also create this barrier. Notably, while this ability cannot be used while in Chaos form, the barrier can be retained when taking on Chaos form, causing the barrier to take on the appearance of overlapping chains.
Variant 2 Effect: Assault Order: Warriors can be combined to create one of three entities. A Shadow Sentinel, a Radiant Sentinel, or a Storm Clone. Sentinels count as five warriors, while a Storm Clone cannot be created again if one is already present. Five warriors of the same element can be combined to create a Shadow Sentinel or a Radiant Sentinel. Sentinels get a stronger weapon that can deal medium damage, as well as a tower shield that blocks all melee and ranged attacks up to medium power. They can tank a multitude of basic and light hits, ten medium attacks, and can take up to five heavy attacks before being destroyed. They also have access to the Light or Dark forms of Dark Rend and Shadow Blast, depending on their element. Flashing intense light counts as a single Medium hit against a Shadow Sentinel, unless it's view is blocked by the shield.
Four Sentinels or two Sentinels and a Storm Clone can be used at the same time. Defend Order can also be used, as well as additional Sentinels made with this order. Two Sentinels of the same element can be used to create an Absolute Barrier with Defend Order, but a Shadow Sentinel and a Radiant Sentinel, or five Radiant Warriors and five Shadow Warriors, can be combined with Assault Order to create a Storm Clone.
Storm Clones are almost as powerful as Maelys, taking on a mirror image of it's master and being able to use Blank Beam, White Dust, Shadow Blast, and Dark Rend and all their variants. A Storm Clone can also levitate and summon copies of Maximo and Vortex. Storm Clone can tank ten heavy attacks before being defeated, as well as a multitude of weaker attacks.
Attack Name: Siphon Assault
Description: You look tasty enough.
With it's appetite partially sated by the Corruption, Lucifer's Taint no longer drains Mae's health. When holding Lucifer's Taint, Mae's Specials, other than this one, only deal half damage.
Effect: Landing hits with Lucifer's Taint will restore Maelys' health by half of inflicted damage. All other Specials deal half damage.
Attack Name: Shadow Shift; Shadowbound
Description: All shall return to darkness!
Taking on the form of pure shadows grants Maelys the ability to become a shadow. He can melt into a shadow cast onto the ground by a light source, avoiding all melee damage and all non-Light based magic attacks. When in the shadows, he is immune to any damage that is not augmented by the Light element, however he can be forced out by shining light on his location, the Corruption guarding him from being stunned. In this state, he can use Snare, but it cannot be used on an airborn opponent. He can also use Snare's tendrils to move around, but only if they have ensnared an opponent.
Effect: He melts into the shadows, avoiding most damage.
Variant Effect: Instead of emerging normally, Maelys can send Maximo and Vortex out, spearing anything in the way before emerging.
Attack Name: Twilight Shift; Damnation
Description: You don't stand a chance!
Maximo and Vortex shift into a drastically different form when Maelys enters Twilight shift, becoming large 1 ft diameter orbs of their respective elements. In this form they can be used to create orbs of varying size and power, effectively serving as a lesser form of Eternal Damnation. These orbs can be used in a variety of ways, but upon coming into contact with an enemy, they will automatically detonate, dealing damage depending on their size. At base size, they are six inches in diameter.
Effect: He can create multiple orbs of Light and Darkness to guard him as well as attack the enemy. Up to twenty orbs, Sparks, can surround him at a time. They deal light damage normally, which when combined with Twilight Shift's damage upgrade, means each small orb can deal around moderate damage upon coming into contact with an entity. Sparks can be destroyed by attacking them with an attack of any power, and can be blown away from Maelys by manipulating the wind, causing them to fade away. Maelys automatically summons any that were lost, keeping a total of 20 Sparks at the start of his post. Sparks can be moved up to six feet from Maelys, should they be moved further than that by means other than being thrown by Maelys, they will dissipate instantly.
Variant 1 Effect: Ten Sparks can be combined and planted on the field to act as a powerful trap. Trap Sparks do not count towards the limit of 20 Sparks, and are approximately two feet in diameter, dealing heavy damage if stepped into or through.
Variant 2 Effect: Sparks can be thrown up to twenty feet from Maelys. They dissipate upon reaching the max distance if they fail to hit anything. All twenty may be thrown in succession, however this would leave Maelys open to attack.
Attack Name: Chaos Shift; Pyrowave
Description:
Usable only in Chaos shift, and one of the only usable Specials in Chaos form, Pyrowave is the inherent power possessed by many dragons. Inhaling deeply, Maelys can release a long trail of flames, scorching whatever they touch. The attack is relatively weak but continues to cause burn damage as an entity remains within the stream, as well as if the entity catches on fire. Can also be focused in a heavy blast, or a stream of blasts.
Effect: Exhales to provide a steady stream of flames that reach about ten feet. The flames at the end are rather cool and weak, while being hit and standing within 8 feet of the source will cause light fire damage. Staying within the stream will obviously cause more damage, and possibly catch the entity on fire, causing further damage even after escaping the stream.
Variant 1 Effect: Instead of a steady stream, the flames can be charged into a stored mass and launched as an explosive projectile. Upon collision with an opponent or any object, the projectile detonates in a violent and powerful explosion with a radius of six feet.
Variant 2 Effect: Maelys takes to the skies and charges up a swarm of cluster charges for a post, then on the next turn, drops a barrage over the enemy. He drops around ten firebombs that each deal light damage individually, stacking up pretty hard if multiple hit their mark. Charging for two posts builds up twenty firebombs, making it easier to hit enemies with the barrage.

Lucifer's Taint has been corrupted, and now serves Maelys alone. It retains it's ability to siphon the enemies health, but will no longer drain Maelys'.

ABILITIES
PRIMARY ABILITY: Storm Knight
Primary Ability Description:
Maelstrom is a human experienced from years of conflict, both of the land as well as within him. His soul is a tempest of Light and Darkness, at times it hums like the wind, sometimes it roars like the great storm that his name is derived from. Having denied the spirits that granted him their power, he now possesses the artifacts that gave them their power, his three blades, spiritually bound to his soul. The nature of these two elements negate each others weaknesses, giving Maelys no clear weakness or elemental advantage. This tempest from within has raged ever since his childhood, causing drastic changes to his very being.
He is capable of tapping into the true power of both Light and Darkness, using them to enhance his power as the situation demands. Aiding him further is the addition of a third artifact, the sword once held by the spirit of chaos. When the elemental power of each sword is used, Maelys can take partial form of entities he has encountered in his past that exemplify the element. Each form grants different weaknesses and strengths, and utilize his abilities slightly differently, though primarily this means visual differences.
Effect: Using the essence of each sword, he can take on a few half-forms. Each has their strengths and weaknesses, and while his allies use the Corruption to enhance their strength, Maelys uses it to enhance his essence, allowing him to retain his transformations until being forced out of them.
Ability Name: Form Shift
Ability Description: Maelys can tap into powerful half-forms. Their powers and weaknesses allow him to overcome many an obstacle, while revealing certain weaknesses. It's a gamble to choose the right form, and once he takes a form (excluding his human form), he cannot shift again until forced out of his current form.
Ability Effect:
Allows Maelys to half-shift into one of four half-forms. Assuming a form requires a post of action, and he cannot take on any other forms until forced out of it. Reverting back to human form,whether being forced or intentional, imposes a five post cooldown during which he cannot transform. Note that while Maximo and Vortex take on forms that compliment these half-forms, Lucifer's Taint can still be used by all forms, but retains it's greatsword form.
Upon taking a form, upon sustaining damage equal to 20% of maximum health forces him out of a form, and locks him out of that form for the remainder of the battle.
Light Shift; Paladin
Infusing his body with Light, he gains bright golden armor, assuming the form of a paladin. Maximo becomes a tall shield that can block melee damage and mitigate ranged damage, while Vortex becomes a long blade that can be used alongside the shield. His Light variant spells are enhanced by 20% in this form while his Dark spells are 20% weaker. While the shield aids him against physical assailants, he is now 33% weaker to all but Dark based spells and energy attacks.
Shadow Shift; Demon
Infusing himself with horrible dark power turns him into a lesser demon, granting him red eyes, white hair, and an aura of translucent reddish black smoke. Maximo and Vortex both take on the form of deadly lances, hovering beside their dark master. His offensive Dark spells gain significant power, about 40%, while his Light spells are 50% less powerful, with the Light version of Wall no longer working. Physical attacks against him are now 50% stronger, while his unstable energy reduces the strength of long range attacks by 50%, with the exception of Light magic. Aiding him in this form is the power Shadow Shift; Shadowbound, allowing him to melt into dark shadows.
Twilight Shift; Seraph
Combining the essence of Light and the chaos of Lucifer's Taint turns Maelys into a powerful entity of Light, a Seraph. In this form, physical damage is doubled against him while his spell damage output is doubled, including Dark spells. Maximo and Vortex assume the forms of orbs, utilizing the ability Twilight Shift; Seraph as their form of attack, multiplying and rushing the opponent. He has no actual melee form of attack besides punches, kicks, and ramming, while ranged damage against him is halved. Though his maneuvering is weaker in this form, he keeps up an offensive barrage to keep foes at bay, guarding his crippling weakness to physical attacks.
Chaos Shift; Drake
Chaos and Darkness infuse to create a terrifying and feral creature, a dark Dragon, or at least alters Maelys the most drastically. As his size increases to ten feet tall, Maelys' boots and gloves fade away to reveal scaled hands and feet as his face and body become scaled. Vortex becomes long claws and talons as Maximo becomes great black wings that support him in midair, allowing him great aerial capabilities. In Dragon form, Maelys's speech becomes guttural and deep, somewhat difficult to understand. Physical attacks bounce off his wings harmlessly and are 50% less powerful against the rest of his body. Long range attacks are significantly stronger against him, being 50% more effective, while Maelys lose the ability to use most Specials. The only ones he retains are Light Channel and the Chaos Shift unique ability. Pyrowave becomes the only ranged capabilities Maelys possesses, and is simply fitting for a dragon. Other than that, Maelys' physical attacks in this form are 50% stronger and can pierce weaker magical barriers.
Ability Name: Flight
Ability Description: When mystical powers are at ones disposal, the ability to defy gravity often becomes as simple as exerting such powers over ones body. Maelys can utilize the power of flight in different ways depending on his form. While in human form, he can only hover around, incapable of any significant agility. In Paladin form, he cannot fly, however he can amplify his speed by gliding across the ground. In demon form, he can hover at greater speed than human form. Seraph form can hover around at moderate speed. In dragon form, his wings grant him unrestricted flight.
Ability Effect: Most of Maelys' forms are capable of a form of flight.
Ability Name: Soulbound Blade
Ability Effect: Maximo, Vortex, and Lucifer's Taint can be summoned into battle. While any sword can be dispelled without restriction, a post of action is required to summon a sword, however Maximo and Vortex may be summoned together while Lucifer's Taint cannot be summoned alongside the other two, with one exception. Dragon form can summon LT without dispelling it's wings and claws, however LT will not benefit from the physical bonus, and while the wings still function for flight, they cannot be used to shield even on the ground. When using Form Shift, Maximo and Vortex are automatically summoned and transformed, unless reverting to human form, where they can be reverted to basic form or dispelled.
Ability Name: Enhanced Senses
Ability Description: With manipulation of the cardinal elements comes a familiarity with them. Maelstrom has attained a 'sixth sense,' able to locate nearby individuals that house either Light or Dark power. This is not connected to Good and Evil, only the elements of Light and Darkness. Furthermore, his feral chaotic form, Dragon Shift, is capable of sniffing out nearby living entities based on their scent.
Ability Effect: Maelys is capable of sensing the presence of beings that can wield Light or Darkness within 50 feet. Dragon Shift is also capable of smelling any living entity within 50 feet.
