Also known as why I hate going to sleep.

Okay, so this is just going to be a quick and dirty explanation of space-time-probability relationships and the ability to travel/foresee various probabilities and existences. This serves no value to most people, I would assume, but if you want to think more about how a character shifts dimensions or alternative universes or space-time travel, this may be of use to you. If you're already well versed in this sort of bunk, this will largely be nothing new.
So then, the basics!
Let's make a quick series of events to illustrate (note: make actual illustrations posthaste). If I were to wake up in the morning, which I didn't because of the events illustrated above, I would:
A. Get out of bed
B. Get dressed
C. Go downstairs
D. Get tea
Or, a basic A-B-C-D
Which shows the relationship between space and time. As you move through space, so too you move through time and vice versa. So I'm just gonna add a probability. This time between getting dressed, and going downstairs. So thus we have.
D-B-A-C-D
where A is the epicenter of various probabilities from happening. If we continue we basically get
E. Take medication
E-D-E-B-D
| \| \|/| / |
C-B-C-E-B
|\ | \|/ | /|
D-B-A-C-D
| /| /|\ |\ |
C-D-B-E-B
|/ | /|\ | \|
E-C-D-C-B
This goes on essentially infinitely in all directions. From point A, there are infinite possibilities of what happens next sequentially, and from there another infinite ways to go on from there. And that's just from one position of A. You can start at position D and move forwards or backwards, and things stay the same.
Probability fields work like this. Except it may be instead of getting up out of bed and going downstairs, it's Hitler winning World War II to... say... this forum's main plot actually starting smoothly. So in terms of a probability field, time is nothing more but the movement from probability A to probability C. A singular universe is the series of events that moves A-Z and beyond. But within a single path lies infinities among infinities to traverse. From the perspective of someone that exists past the probability field, time is omnidirectional. You could start from D-A and it would still make sense. You just create another universe, but in perspective of that universe time is moving forward despite the fact that in another universe moving from A-D is moving forwards in time.
This is how time travel works. Instead of moving from A-B-C-D-E-F in sequential order, someone is moving directly from F-A or A-F without making any stops, thus traveling forward or backwards in time from the perspective from the original universe. Time travel is less about travelling through time, but more traveling through a dimension where time becomes irrelevant.
This also technically means, within infinities of infinities, there are no such things as universal constants.
Rather, it's more of limiting the probability fields.
We can start from A and create a "zone" containing all infinite possibilities of instance starting from B. Thus we take cut down the infinite among infinities in the probability field, and single it down into a singular, but still infinite, probability field. But it doesn't have to be a direct transition from A to B. We can set it as A - U - B where U is the uncertain "flux" of the probability field. From there, it becomes easier to understand the possible futures and dimensions with these constrictions. Instead of aimlessly drawing an empty line from A to a potential B, we're drawing a straight line from A to B and analyzing the possibilities.

Continue onward and outward, and eventually patterns will appear in this limited field. The key events that were used to limit the zone then become "constants", and the patterns that happen within these universes become the prediction. The further out you can go, the more accurate a prediction is, and the more difficult it is to break free from that prediction due to the amount of possibilities that have been observed already. This also means that, yes. Universal Constants are what people decide must happen in order for future probabilities to make sense. They are socially constructed and then reinforced. Godwin's Rule of Time Travel exists purely because we are using Hitler as the end perspective, and establishing the infinite among infinite possibilities... to the point where it is impossible NOT to include Hitler in future altercations because of how it's changed our perception of the future. Remove Hitler, and everything ELSE turns into probability chaos until you create a new constant.
That about sums up what I was thinking about in bed. If this doesn't make sense, it's because it's 5 AM and I've only had 2 cups of tea to live off of. I'm probably going to sleep and not even recognize what I wrote here.
