Ironic, the first thread in the n00b free post is pro-n00bs! 
Seriously, people have voiced alot of complaints about n00bs... and I want us all to instead of hating on them.. instead of treating like a burning bag of dog poopie that someone decided to lovingly leave on our doorstep. [Don't step on it! O.O ] I was thinking we could start brainstorming on what we could do to fix it. You know.. what we could do to de-n00bify n00bs.
Any thoughts? Questions? I generally just believe treating them like they are people too is a good start though.

I don't agree with the good treatment. Last time that happened, we looked like pushovers. However, I noticed a lot less noobs when they actually read the rules and such. When the forum was back in it's active days, the mods were patrolling the cbox every minute, any member would know not to act like a n00b and spam or flame someone.
I say we could try giving more authority, ruling with power might be bad, but if it works...

I was never a n00b in the classic definition of n00b. Yeah, I misspelled, and I was clueless.. but I was also around SLE's age and I was a cautious girl. [People are scary!!] I wanted to make sure I didn't break any rules, so I only posted very slowly.. double checked over and over.. though it didn't help my poor spelling. My posts still felt n00bish.
But I tried. Heh.. ^^;;
But seriously, I think some of the ideas here could work.. but who has all the guns and hammers? |

As BB said, we were all noobs at one point. We didn't know how to play games with skill and we were clueless with some things. So how did we get better? We learned, we practiced, and we experimented. The players have forgotten these steps. They look up tricks and tips on the internet and figure out ways to spam those techniques. Noobs don't know how to make their own style of gameplay. What they need is a teacher. Someone to work with them and help them improve their game play.

Some n00bs transform into inspiring and terrific people, and then some are born moronic and disruptive. We can't change everyone of them, and feeding the "attention seeking" ones the attention they desire just to feel important is poor judgement IMO. Cell's 3 basic rules1. Follow the rules (if people don't know, show them). 2. Treat others in a respectable manner (meaning don't pick fights with everyone that bother you). 3. Don't be a retarded b*tch (cuz then you getz shot by android lazerz). |
