Fangirl Squee: NonCLAMP 1

Merghles, I know.. I know. Angel hasnt' done one of these in a really really long time. There hasn't been time in the days where there is nothing to do still to find the need to do such a thing.

There are many things I could squee about that are CLAMP based and gawsh, I just got a couple more volumes of Cardcaptor Sakura yesterday so surely I could do it.. but I think I'm going to squee about something else.

Now, sure... I think I'll try to hit my first character based squee and go with a character that I've discovered recently that has warmed my heart and filled my head with all sorts of bizarre but wonderful images and sounds. Pinoko from Black Jack is this character, and she's just itching to come out. Not that the expression has made much sense to my in the past.. does it imply that when you really want to do something that suddenly your body goes into sparkle spasms and get all itchy? Doesn't sound berry nice to me.

The first thing you would notice about Pinoko.. if you were like, watching the animation at least since lisp has never really been as cute on paper or as do-able so the manga doesn't really capture it.. but yeah. I gave it away, she has a lisp. I've never heard a Japanese lisp done really well before, or appreciated Japanese before enough to hear what a lisp can do to it. It's a cute, cute, cute thing, and Pinoko talks more like a baby than anything. Sure, for this visual toddler or sometimes in the anime, kindergarten kid.. that's probably okay. But as Pinoko will clearly tell you later on, she is his WIFE.

Yeah, gawsh.. why can't people seem to take the clue about that. She sits at home all day, she cooks, she cleans, she does the laundry, she does the grocery shopping.. some people say that Black Jack treats this girl like a daughter and there are a few moments where he will.. but her relationship in the house is all wife with a side of fun. She will sit patiently at the dinner table waiting for Black Jack to come home.. and if he's late without calling.. woe to B.J. for he will about to face her womanly wrath.

They capture a housewife pretty well. I think.

Another interesting note on a pro-wife basis would be the fact that while he has shown interest in other people.. he never actually will make the point of "correcting" Pinoko when she tells other people that she's his wife. Sure, some people might go and say that this is just because that either he doesn't care what other people think of him enough to correct them (something he should, a girl of her visual age saying that sort of thing isn't good for him wether or not he knows her real age) or that he knows that Pinoko wouldn't take it well if he did say something like that.. but I also believe he does think of her that way, even just a little bit. That deep inside the fibers of his clothes and being, he would find it wrong to say otherwise. That's kinda what marriage is about sometimes I think.

Pinoko can act childish, that's for sure.. but this shouldn't cancel out other things. Angel can act childish but at times, suddenly she's been growing or sometimes she shows her emotional maturity and there. Angel is a legal adult, and I think Pinoko should be treated as one as well. This girl experienced everything her sister did while enjoying life around her stomach as a parasite, and gawshdarn it those years should count. Even Black Jack claims in the manga and also in episode 44 (which sadly is the episode that you learn about Pinoko's real age.. they decided to leave you in the dark for 5/6ths of the anime) that she's an adult, not a child and she should make attempts to learn how to say Sensei correctly, which she of course pronounces Chenchei. It's much cuter though, so what's the problem? Angel's been saying it that way as a tribute too.

She has many quirks about her, and no rant about Pinoko would be complete without at least mentioning..



The expression that while it is translated to OHMAIGEWDNESS most of the time is used for even other things in the anime itself.. it's an expression that Pinoko somehow invented while trying to talk.. and expression of her surprise or as seen many times, annoyance about something. It's a pure expression, and something I want to learn to do by habit in the real world because all I am is a huge emulation of my favorite characters thank you very much.

But in the anime, her sequences of doing things such as stating that she's 18 years old, that she's his wife, and others get their own special sparkly.. thing. It's pretty great, I'm going to have say that. That's pretty great.

Well, there you have it maybe I'll talk about her in detail later. Someone should update this that I updated it finally.

I heard about Black Jack but always passed because I had something else to watch and/or wanted to check out. With that being said, the story sounds intriguing and Pinoko is definitely an interesting character.
