Beggining 10/31/09, these updates will be added to the rules. You are entitled to one warning on your first offense of breaking these rules when it comes to rules that apply to the c-box for the next two weeks. If you feel like you didn't get a warning, please PM the admin or the moderator in question.
Concerning Duplicate Accounts:
For security reasons and to better help serve the rules, we ask that no user creates a second account while another account is still active. The means that if you still have an account as yourself, you may not make an account pretending to be someone else. Any user found creating such an account will be subject to punishment accordingly, though as a rule of thumb, the "main" account's will be warned and the "secondary" account will be banned.
This does not include the c-box, unless you are directly attempting to hide your identity without getting rid of the old one. To be further clear, you may make a new name.. but directly using this to attempt and with the intent to hide your original identity is not allowed.
Respect New Members
Every new member should be given a basic level of respect when they first arrive. Calling them degrading things like "n00b" and stuff is not allowed and will result in being warned. While this is done with all members in general, extra tightening is going to be made to make sure that new members are treated with kindness.
Additions to the Definition of Flaming
-Rude and unnecessary posts such as “sucks for you, etc." Unless the person you are saying it to knows that you say it under a complete joking manner.
-Calling someone a name, usually with the intention of insulting the user. This includes a wide spectrum of possible 'names', and as such, a moderator may need to use his/her judgment when dealing with "minor" occurrences. Again, if both members know that no harm is meant, this is fine.
- Creating a thread in the public space with the intent of calling out another user directly. Please keep these to Personal Messages.
Additions to Flame Baiting
- Saying more than subtle attacks in a post that targets a specific user.
- Flaunting your own opinion as "fact" and/or putting down the opinions of others as "wrong".
- Making threads on known hot-button topics only for the sake of getting a negative reaction from a group of users, rather than for pure discussion (i.e. Topic: christianity, Post: god sux lol). This does not mean that saying something that makes another person mad is counting as flaming baiting, but saying something that adds nothing to the conversation but insult is not allowed.
- Making threads that subtly or directly target a certain user, encouraging an angry response.
Change In Appealing Punishments
Should be done in a PM and in a PM only. Angry rants is not the place to discuss or question about the fact that you are banned. Doing so will result in your thread being deleted and you possibly being warned.
Change to Sexual Innuendos and Other Mature Material
The entire area that deals with these forms of material on the forum must be hidden in the spoiler-tag and must be labeled clearly as mature material above or your post will be altered. If you do not know how to do a spoiler tag, it is very simple. Just a normal BBCode with with spoiler as the wording in it instead of "b" or "size" etc. Repeat ignorance of this rule could get you a warning.
Moderator Respect
If you feel like a moderator is going beyond their job or treating you unfairly, please PM or IM another moderator explaining the situation to better help you and to make sure that you are being treated well. However, when a moderator has given their word about a situation on the c-box or on the forums, until you have word from another moderator that it is okay to ignore their words, it will be treated as fact, rule, and should not be argued with on the c-box or thread in question. Continual arguing with the moderator in question is grounds for a warning or temporary ban.
Please, speak out when you feel people are being mistreated. If you see any moderator taking advantage of this rule, screen capture it and send it to another moderator to help catch the misdeed.
