With the recent announcement of the "3DDS", I been noticing this 3D fad is really getting out of control. At first when 3D movies started coming out I thought it was a neat idea, but now they want to make 3D televisions, 3D programs, 3D games, 3D pr0nz, and 3D puppies (ok, I made that up). I still have SD tv and two small HD tv's, your telling me now that later on I have to switch to 3D HD televisions? You got to be kidding me. I yet to watch any 3D movies - since I don't the money to go to the theatre- but special is this "3D'? It just seems pointless and yet another way to sap money from people's wallets.
How do you feel about this?

you pretty much nailed it... it's worthless overall.
Some movies are fairly good in 3D because they actually throw things at you and draw you into the scene...
Others like say.. Alice in Wonderland... are just 3D for the sake of being 3D....useless

I don't view much stuff in 3D, due to that I wear glasses. When I did not need to wear glasses, I have played a 3D game on a MAC OS 9 computer and it was awesome. I rarely watch movies in 3D. I would rather see games and movies in a hologram version, to where I am like in the game or movie. Overall, I do agree that the 3D Fad is getting out of control.

I think that as long as it's not forced on anyone, that it's fine and a fun thing for the people that love it. I hope that they make quality and fun products and while I get motion sickness, I would love to try the 3DS at least since you don't have to wear glasses.

My experiences with 3D have been absolutely worthless mibs, therefore my opinion here might be skewed a bit mibs...
3D is all fine and danady as long as you don't have to wear those glasses, its annoying to wear them over your own glasses and mildly uncomfortable for the bridge of the nose. Besides 3D is a ploy, not everything is compatible with 3D, and at times its just utterly useless mibs

Meh, 3D is meant to be for the kids watchign shit come out of the screen and rape them with epic graphics. But they have gone a bit overboard. I mean hell, They are re making movies from the 80's in 3D.

I would like to add that I do believe that we should work as had as we can to progress 3D though, if anyone wants to see virtual reality games and things like that in the future. I don't think there is anything wrong with liking the effect it brings, they just need to work hard to advance it and not just do what they've always done.

the angel makes sense. For hologram games, we must work with this 3D garbage. I myself though, am opposed to the thought of 3D movies, hell, the 3D games are making me mad. All this garbage is for the casual audience, what about the hardcore gamers needs? Well back on topic, with 3D, its gonna suck and strain my eyes, and 3DS better have a feature to take off 3D or else this skittle is going to get even more sour >

I don't think there is anything wrong with liking the effect it brings, they just need to work hard to advance it and not just do what they've always done. Call me old fashion but I kind of don't want Virtual Reality games. I'm fine with my consoles and joysticks (and discosticks :3) thank you very much. How do you know this? Are you psychic? Besides I hate the terms "causal" and "hardcore" gamers. Again that's just me. But you see that's the problem: THEY ARE TRYING FIST IT DOWN OUR THROATS! HD was first a nice side option for folks but then last year they decided to go and do the HD conversion and you won't be able to watch unless you had an HD TV or HD converter box - if you had cable then you were good to go. This meant you had to buy a HD tv later down the road. Now it seems like they are slowly doing this with the 3D format, and quite frankly, I still have a SD television; does this mean I have to get a 3D-HD television now too? Oh lawdy.

I think this is the same as the lite and the DSi. I personally don't care. You guys suck with your games, I'll be over here with my GBC and this original GBA with my old yellow version.
Also, this is gonna start getting annoying too. I mean, woahshitawesome graphics used to be few and far between. LoZ:OoT used to be one of the most HD games out there. Now, if something has better graphics on the PS3 than the 360, people automatically think the 360 version is the inferior one. The basis of "Which system is better" is 1/3 graphics.
Also, it seems like 3D is just unpopular now because everyone's doing it. That's also the basis of why LoZ or FF7 suck.
And there are my two pennies.

Call me old fashion but I kind of don't want Virtual Reality games. I'm fine with my consoles and joysticks (and discosticks :3) thank you very much. I'm not denying the fact that I will always have a special place in my heart for the joystick games and will continue to play them.. but the idea of enjoying the idea of a virtual reality is still something I would like to see. If we could do it, I say we should.. but that's just my opinion. I'm sorry but HD was not forced on anyone. Sure, a good amount of shows on TV are formatted for HD now and you end up with a little bit of the picture on either side taken off, but you'll still be fine watching it on a standard TV. The conversion had nothing to do with HD at all, and was in fact a "Digital Conversion" changing the way people receive TV from the air so the airwaves normally being used for sending out TV could be used for something else. The only people that had to change were the people getting TV from an antenna, they had to be a Digital Converter Box. I do not see them forcing 3D on people any time in the near future. Nor HD for that matter, but it will happen sooner than 3D.
