So apparently if you get error code 8001050F you're fucked. You can't sign in and you can't play games that have trophies... even offline. Hacked? No. Not at all. Hardware/firmware failure. Most likely. Also, the date gets reset to 12/31/1999, which I don't even get because the PS3 wasn't even known about in 1999. Sony can't fix it for shit, they said it'd be fixed in a few hours. It started at 6:00 pm for me. Now, it isn't just me either. This error caused MILLIONS of PS3s to fail. The ones that don't fail are the slims. Someone at Sony fucked up big time.

It's a calendar error, simple fix. Someone on Slashdot.org wrote up a simple code that solves the problem, which means the fix is really simple.
It appears to be a mixup in the calendar, PS3 thinks 2010 is a leap year.

lol mine works fine, because i never have the internet update my time. Hell it even goes on to PSN and i have the old 40gig model.

It seems to have fixed itself. There shouldn't be any more problems.

Yeah, even though mine isn't connected to the internet right now, it's done that error code thing twice. Once, it changed it to 12-31-1999, then it changed to something in 2020. I dunno, but it doesn't seem to hinder any of my games. But it'll probably screw up when I get the internet back.

If you play games and earn trophies during the bug, there's a change you might lose them once it's fixed. I'd be careful with how much you play.

I haven't been bothering with earning trophies, so I guess I'll just avoid that until a patch fixes it.
