Down the Rabbit Hole
I’m not sure what you would call it, some twisted joke fate pulled on a couple of youngsters, a thief in the night who comes not to steal your belongings but rather your way of life, Fate’s ugly brother. Regardless, it seemed Kune had fallen down a hole, presumably found in her dreams, into an endless abyss. Down and down she fell, attempting a flip every now and then to get the best out of her bizarre experience, until finally she hit the ground. Her bum hurt a bit afterward, but not as much as one would expect. See, gravity seemed to have altered when she fell, because that certainly was higher than 100 meters and Kune was not made of steel (nor would she want to be). Her surroundings were familiar in a lovely way; green grass was all around her and a river ran just a few meters away, and by the looks of it, it circled around a giant city.
“Oh lovely,” Kune said. “At least this dream will be interesting.”
Unbeknownst to her, the dream was all too real, and it would pose a challenge far greater than she could have imagined.
It wasn’t but 10 minutes later, while she was walking down the path to the giant city’s entrance, that she chanced upon a girl in the road. Puzzled, she squinted her eyes to get a better look, not realizing that simply walking forward some more would aid in her vision. And so she walked—still squinting mind you—towards the girl with the raven black hair. The deep color shone in the afternoon sun, a spectacular sight which filled Kune with envy as she toyed with her own hair, wishing she hadn’t bought that cheap kind of shampoo just so she could afford a new book.
So the closer she got the more her eyes widened as she recognized the young woman before her. She was standing up and rubbing her bum, much like Kune did, so she assumed the same incident had befallen her as well. When she turned to Kune, her face went red (well, both did). Kune almost had a heart attack.
“S-s-sohee?” she asked.
“Huh?” the young lady replied.
“A-are you Sohee?”
“…Yes…why do you ask?”
My god her English is beautiful~!!!
Sohee knew of course why Kune asked, for being part of a successful pop group with thousands of fans worldwide. She didn’t quite know what to make of it, trapped in a dream world with what she thought was a bumbling fan, but at least there was someone else to talk to. Having a person walk around and do things for me wouldn’t be so bad, she thought.
“Because I’ve listened to your music and I really like your voice,” Kune reasoned.
“Oh, thanks,” Sohee responded. “By the way, do you know where we are?”
Kune then took the time to study her surroundings with a little more attention than she had previously given. The giant city, the river surrounding it, the grass, sun, and the signposts.
The signposts!
One was in close range so Kune dashed over to read it with Sohee lagging behind, shouting, “Wait! I need your help!” She was fixated on the sign, reading and comprehending the names of the towns on the post.
The Imperial City, Cheydinhal.
Cheydinhal.
To entertain the thought that she was inside of one of her favorite game worlds gave Kune shivers, but to actually be in it! This was something entirely different, sensations she could feel with her hands! Her friends wouldn’t believe her even if they were here. It couldn’t be a dream, it had to be real!
Sohee had started to notice the revelation unfold on Kune’s face and asked, “So…where are we?”
Kune replied with a growing grin, “We’re in Cyrodiil, land of Oblivion.”
“Cyrodiil? Oblivion? What does that all mean?”
With a quick snatch Kune grabbed a hold of Sohee’s hand and began running in the opposite direction of the Imperial City, screaming along the way, “Never mind that, just come with me!”
She knew exactly where she was, knew exactly where to look. For once, Kune felt as though she could cheat the system, and instead of doing it alone she had a beautiful companion to enjoy all the spoils with.
This was going to be fun.
