Alright folks, it’s high time we got another RP tournament underway in a contest for glory and badassery. For the trash talk, the bragging rights, for the increasingly cautious, short, and reactive posts, and the unholy level of asskicking. And because everyone I’ve asked thinks it would be epic, this will be a Doubles Tournament, meaning fights of two on two. (Should enough people sign up, at least eight.)So! The ground rules for now are as follows:
Ground Rules
1. Don’t be a dick. Don’t sign up unless you are both able and willing to contribute the time necessary to post. 2 on 2 fights means that four people will be posting per thread, and it’s very unfair for three of those people to have to wait around waiting for someone to post. It’s even less fair if someone has to drop. So, be cool, and only sign up if you can ensure that you’ll be able to post fairly regularly.
2. Partners will be assigned RANDOMLY. I will write down the names of all participants, put them in a hat (Well, my soup bowl), and draw them out two at a time. This isn’t to be mean, it’s to keep thing fair.
3. Team matchups will be decided the same way. Randomly. Using the same system.
4. Once matchups are assigned, the teams will have a certain number of time to complete their matches. Because more people are involved, the time allotted to do this will be greater than last time.
5. Should there be no clear winner by the end of the allotted timeframe, RP staff will vote on the outcome.
6. You are allowed and encouraged to come up with awesome team names.
7. If none of the participants mind, another RPer can perform commentary on the matches.
8. The winning team may or may not get something crazy awesome from the as of now nonexistent Smash Shop.
9. If your character dies in the tournament, it won't count anywhere else.
Battle Rules
1. All normal rules for RPing apply. See them here. smashbrosfan.proboards.com/index.....ay&thread=19822
2. Battles are won when either both members of the opposing team are killed, forfeit, incapacitated, or some combination of the three.
3. For a team member to forfeit, they must have their partners consent. (This rule applies to more than team RP battles, don’t forget kids!)
4. Participants must follow a certain posting order. Members of Team A will be referred to as A1 and A2, with members of Team B being B1 and B2. The posting order for the battle must be. A1, B1, A2, B2, rinse and repeat. HOWEVER. Say A1 does something and B2 has this super epic move that counters it perfectly. Unfortunately, it’s B1’s turn, not his. But that’s ok! If B1 agrees, he and B2 can switch their posting order, so long as a member of Team B always posts after a member of Team A, and a member of Team A always posts after a member of Team B.
5. The default terrain for battles is a standard gladiator set up, a wide circular arena with no cover, and no way to escape. If all participants agree though, they may choose to fight in any sort of environment they wish. NPCs are not permitted in the battles, however.
6. Again, if all participants agree, they may allow a commentator to, er, commentate.
7. Following the posting order listed above, everyone has 48 hours to post before being skipped. If the skipped participant’s partner is in a position where they are unable to defend their missing teammate’s character, the skipped participant may be autohit, NONLETHALY.
8. If a single participant fails to post within 48 hours twice, they’re character may be administered a LETHAL autohit if their teammate is unable to defend them.
9. You all may begin posting matches tomorrow, February 19, and will have until February 28 at midnight to complete them.
10. Create your threads in the Other RP section, titled RP TOURNAMENT (Name of Team A VS Name of Team B)
OK. Those are the ground rules for now, and are subject to change. Everyone sign up here by posting your name (Because some of you change it weekly. You know who you are), and the character you wish to use. Like so:
Kismet: Matthew Richter
If you have a suggestion for a rule you'd like implemented, post it along with your name and character, and people can vote on it. I will add it to the rules if enough people like it. (And if I think it feasible to actually implement.)
