I'll be posting these every Monday and Friday. Thanks to any readers.
Green Feathers
The final touches were being put on the arrow, and soon it would fill in the almost full quiver, which now lay against a rock. Fingers caressed the smooth shaft, hand crafted, and moved down to the six empty holes near the bottom of the shaft. Feathers were inserted into these holes, which had been hunted not only to be used for this, but for food also. Nothing had gone to waste.
The fingers brushed both sides of every feather, ensuring that every inch of the pale green feathers were known. But, at the snap of a twig every sense was on alert, and soon the arrow was strung, its hard metal tip searching for what made that noise. It soon found them, two figures walking toward her. They seemed like a puppeteer and his marionette. The small, puppet like one seemed to follow the hooded figure as if he had no idea where they were going. She decided she liked the puppet, but was worried about who the hooded figure was. He seemed to be staring at her, purposefully walking towards her.
She let the arrow fly, aiming only centimeters from his head. But the scare tactic failed, as he didn't flinch, but kept walking.
"Geno," he adressed the puppet, "Could you get that arrow back? Christine will want it."
The doll looked from the hooded man to her. "Do you two know each other?"
"...Not exactly." After hesitation, Geno went to get the arrow, which had lodged itself in a tree.
She had been ready to shoot again, this time to injure, when she heard her name. It seemed to stun her, and soon he was standing next to her.
"How do you know my name?" she asked, strength coming back to her, but still without a ready weapon.
"Christine the elf of Arkista," he continued, still standing in the same place.
"How do you know...?"
"From the game Arkista's Ring."
She paused, even more confused. "Who are you?"
"I'm here to return you home, hopefully, to Arkista. I'll explain more later, once we find more characters. Are you going to come?"
The doll, Geno, caught up now, and handed the arrow over to Christine, saying only, "Hi." When they turned to the hooded man, he was already walking. The two looked at each other, and followed.
"Do you know who he is?" Christine asked.
"No idea," replied Geno.

For reference, this is what she looks like:
