For this week's NES Presents...Kune's favorite normal tunes in video games.
By normal tunes I mean those separate from canon songs, like main themes, boss fight ballads, and the like. It's sort of a mix of town tunes, character tunes, and other medleys.
My Top 10 in no particular order:
1. Gerudo Valley - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
I hum this one all the time, and I refuse to learn it on the piano because it sounds much better on the guitar.
2. Dr. Wily Stage 1 - Rockman 2
Just try and tell me this tune isn't awesome. I whistle it, hum it, sing the Okkusenman version, and have remixes of it on my iPod.
3. The Opened Way - Shadow of the Colossus
Ok so this is a boss battle theme, but the whole game is a series of boss fights so frankly I don't care. When this piece plays on your first fight you can't help but get chills.
4. Kaepola Gaebola's Theme - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
If you've played this game, then you know what this song is. The owl may be annoying to you, but the tune is very cute.
5. Rufus' Welcoming Ceremony - Final Fantasy VII
This may be a piano rendition of it, but you get the basic idea. Again, the tune is just delightful and really lifts my spirit when I'm down.
6. Kefka - Final Fantasy VI
I love how this fits him so well in the game. Kefka is the perfect blend of insanity and cruelty, and this theme reflects that very well. It's my favorite of the FFVI soundtrack along with The Decisive Battle.
7. The Promise - Final Fantasy XIII
Sure it may be early to judge this as one of my favorite medleys from XIII, but I really like how calming it sounds.
8. Emerald Hill Zone - Sonic the Hedgehog 2
It's a classic, need I say more?
9. Opposition Resignation - Eternal Sonata
Really, this is only one of the many beautiful songs in the game.
10. Music A - Tetris (Gameboy)
What? It's the CENSOREDing Korobeiniki.
Ok before you bitch and moan about not having your favorite tune up here, it's really hard to decide only 10 of my favorite songs. If I could, I'd post them all, but this thread would blow up.
