Hopefully more people will read this, last chapter only Angel did. As to the the comment on the duckling description, it was on purpose. You'll see why I'm sort of breaking the 4th wall later.
The star child was reclined against a dead tree, and apparently sleeping. If he was human, his chest would have been breathing heavily, taking breaths in sleep. If he was human, he would have needed this sleep. But, always the light sleeper, he didn’t mind taking a pleasure nap once in a while.
He (though he was technically not male, he assumed a form that looked male, and figured he was already masculine) pushed up the blue cap, and looked toward the stars which barely lit up this pie crust of a land. He was so far from home…but he knew he would not go back again, his calling had to be here…wherever he was.
It took less than a second for him to jump us and arm himself (pun intended) as he looked at the intruder approaching his land. Granter, his land consisted of only a small radius around where he was at the time, but still was his space. The figure looked slightly awkward coming up to him, with the cloak being too small for an obviously large man. In no way did the figure seemed to be fat, just a full grown man. The sleeves revealed the figure’s tight muscles around his upper arms, and the short cloak length let him see glimpses of running sneakers. In the end, the star child decided that the intruder would not hurt him, so he relaxed, but wary that there was actually someone in this land.
“Geno,” said the cloaked man.
“How do you know my name?”
“Everyone does. You were everyone’s favorite in Super Mario RPG, Legend of the Seven Stars. And people still talk about you a lot.”
“So who are you? Why are you here? Where is here?”
“Who I am is not important,” the figure said, looking away. At least, Geno saw his hood turn. “And I’ll explain where we are once we get more people,” the figure turned and walked, correctly assuming that Geno would follow.
“Why are you here?” Geno repeated, catching up to the figure’s fast stride.
“I’m in this place for the same reason as you,” the figure said in a grave tone. “And the same reason as everyone else who is here. But I came to you, because you’re one of the few with a decent shot of getting out of this forsaken land, and so I’ve come to help you. Now. To find others.”
