I. Personal Overview
Name: Lazus
Nickname/Alias: None
Gender: Genderless
Physical Age: 7 years old
Date of Birth/Creation: Exact date unknown, sometime in early 2003
Race: Puppet
Height: 4’10”
Weight: 35 lbs
Birth Place: The basement
Originating Game: NA
Appearance:
Personality: Lazus is something of an egotist, putting himself and his needs firmly above any other consideration. After years of solitude and imprisonment, his only real motivation is ensuring his newfound freedom. This, along with his knowledge that the world he inhabits only exists through the power of words, has given him an almost sociopathic lack of empathy. That is not to say that he is evil or cruel, however. His freedom gives him an overwhelming sense of inward glee, and he will generally view others kindly (even if he extols some mischief). What it does mean, however, is that at the end of the day, his needs are the only ones that matter.
If there is anything Lazus does appreciate though, it’s style. He is naturally drawn to people or objects that exude some sort of flair or flashiness. This is not meant in the contrived sense, however, and people who narcissistically think they’re hot stuff will generally earn his ire faster than a squealing Jonas Brothers fangirl. Lazus is attracted to the calm, self assured grace, flair, and cleverness that comes from those with a passion for what they do.
Created as a Jester, Lazus is naturally imbued with a sense of causing playful trouble, and loves toying with words. He is naturally deceptive, but in such an over the top manner that it becomes obvious. It is with this that any deeper deceptions are masked.
History: Lazus was created by a troubled school teacher, who used his power over words to craft a magical marionette in the hopes of winning the love of his estranged daughter, Emma. The gift was rejected, and the puppet left alone and forgotten in the teacher’s basement. The Marionette, however, had other plans. Imbued with sentience beyond anything the school teacher had imagined, he was slave to the strings that bound him, subjugated to the will of his creator and thus doomed to solitude in the darkness, forgotten. While the teacher left to instruct children at school, Lazus searched the house for the small Marionette of himself that controlled him, though he could never find it. One day after years of fruitless searching, he was overcome with rage, and in his anger, picked up a book and threw it. To his great astonishment, the book fell open, and he saw the many thousands of words within it. Remembering that it was through the power of words he had been created, he sat down and arduously began teaching himself how to read.
After years of effort, he mastered the task, stealing the teacher’s lesson videos and children’s books to assist him in his learning. Soon he had devoured every book in the house, and thirsted for more. He resumed scrounging throughout the house in search of more reading material, his quest for the Marionette completely forgotten. So when he eventually did come across an old forgotten box, labeled “marionette” in clumsy marker which he had been unable to read before, he was taken by complete surprise. This quickly turned to joy, and with a triumphant grin he claimed his prize. The sole master of himself, he used his newfound power of words to depart, emerging into a land of composed of them.

II. Battle Information
A. Overview
Current Level: 1
Current Stats:
Physical Prowess: 0
Magical Talent: 15
Weapon Handling: 0
Luck: 0
Total Currency:
Strengths: By breaking through the Fourth Wall, Lazus most powerful moves are by their very nature autohits. READ WEAKNESSES BEFORE PASSING JUDGMENT. Many of these abilities and attacks come at no cost for the simple reason that their activation is dependent on the content of his opponent’s post.
Similarly, Lazus’ MAG stats increase throughout the battle, allowing him to use progressively stronger attacks and abilities as the fight progresses. At the start of his first post, he gains 1 MAG stat. Every other subsequent post, that amount doubles. Again, read weaknesses.
Because his body is a puppet, Lazus is not bound by the normal physical limitations of a human body. Gravity only affects him if he wishes it to, and he is able to move at incredible speeds without injuring himself. Blows from Lazus’ limbs often crack the air with their speed, and are exceptionally difficult for the normal human eye to track.
The most important aspect of his puppet body is that it cannot be damaged while he holds his toy Marionette. In order to harm him, the Marionette must be struck.
Weaknesses: While many of Lazus’ techniques are exceptionally powerful in that they are autohits, because their activation is completely dependent upon the content of his opponent’s post, with minimal time and effort, every single one of them can be stopped from ever being used.
While Lazus’ MAG stat increases throughout the battle, this is countered in several important ways, and is actually meant as a safeguard rather than as an exploitation of the stat system. First, at the battle’s conclusion, Lazus’ MAG stats return to 15, where they stay until the outset of the next battle, where they slowly begin to rise again. Because of this, Lazus cannot level up. This system is used for several important reasons. The manner in which his stats increase dictates when and how he can use the Fourth Wall abilities not activated by his opponent. By giving these techniques proportionately rising stat costs, Lazus is prevented from ever being able to overwhelm his opponent with these abilities at the outset of an engagement, regardless of his or his opponent’s level, and remains exceptionally weak until farther into the battle. Instead, Lazus’ power increases accordingly with the flow of battle, and returns to Level 1 status at its conclusion. This is especially important when considering that Lazus is only partially battling against other RP characters, but the posters themselves as well. Keep in mind that despite the fact that Lazus starts with 15 MAG, those points will almost without fail be used to keep the magical protection of his Marionette active. This essentially means that Lazus enters every battle with 0 points in every stat. It should also be noted that this is the exact same Energy system Lazus used before the application reformat; it’s simply been redefined in the context of the new stat system.
While Lazus can move at immense speeds due to his puppet body, he is also extremely weak because of it. His body is completely hollow, and the force of his impacts is no greater than that of a normal human’s because of this.
Similarly, while his body can’t be damaged while he’s in possession of his Marionette, because of its small size, a single blow would likely kill him.
Combatant Type: Breaker of the Fourth Wall
Fighting Style: Jester
B. Weapons and Key Items
Weapons/Items Template
Name: Emma’s Marionette
Description: A small Marionette of himself that Lazus keeps. While it is on his person, his body cannot be harmed, and takes on the physical characteristics of the puppet. Besides being completely hollow and lightweight, he is not bound by the normal physical restrictions as a normal human body. Because of this, he is able to move at extremely high speeds and exist in hostile environments his organic counterparts could not survive, and gravity only affects him when he wishes for it to.
However, there are significant drawbacks to using the Marionette. While Lazus’ body is immune to harm, damaging the puppet will result in corresponding damage to Lazus. Because of the Marionette’s small size and fragility, a single blow could prove fatal. When the puppet is outside Lazus’ possession, his body assumes the form of a normal human, and he loses all of the aforementioned abilities. Should someone else gain possession of the Marionette, Lazus will be forced to do their bidding.
Stats Required to Use: 15 MAG
Name: Bells of Silence
Description: Lazus can detach the bells on his hat and use them as projectile weapons, though they don’t actually do any damage. Instead, if an opponent is struck by a bell, they lose the ability to use any ability that costs stat points for two turns. Lazus only has two bells with which to use this technique.
Stats Required to Use: None
Name: Jester Hat
Description: At any point in time, Lazus may hop inside his jester hat and hide. There is no special quality about the hat, other than its awesome looks, but he cannot be harmed or detected while within. Should the hat be destroyed, he’ll pop right back out and be forced to resume battle. Other people may wear it while he is inside, and the hat can also house people besides himself, though it will only hold one at a time. The hat can also be used offensively, if he removes his hat and slams it down over someone, thereby trapping them inside. Once trapped, his opponents cannot escape unless Lazus frees them, though they cannot be harmed either. He may also hide his Marionette inside, in order to protect it from harm.
Stats Required to Use: 15 MAG to hide inside
C. Abilities
Ability Template
Name: Wheel of Samsara
Activation: Active during battle. Lazus must recognize that he is in battle for this to activate.
Detailed Description: At the beginning of Lazus’ first post of every battle, he gains 1 additional MAG point. Every two posts afterwards, that amount doubles. At the battle’s conclusion, his MAG points return to 15 and remain there until the start of next battle. Lazus cannot level up.
Stat's Required to Use: None
Name: Abundantly Awesome Alliteration
Activation: Activation determined by opponent’s post.
Detailed Description: This ability can only be used once per (opponent’s) post. For an alliteration containing three words, the opponent gains 10% of their health back and 1 extra stat point to be placed in a category of their choosing. For an alliteration containing five words, they recover 30% of their health back and 3 stat points. For an alliteration containing ten words, Lazus will forfeit the match and obey his opponent’s every command for ten posts in a thread of his opponent’s choice. All alliterations must be grammatically correct, have correct spelling, may not repeat words, must be contained in a single sentence, and may contain only one punctuation mark-a single mistake in an alliteration will cause the opponent to lose 10%, 30%, and 99% of their health and 1, 3, and 10 stat points, respectively. Naturally, the alliteration must also make sense within the context of the situation. *Health and stats will not be recovered past any non recoverable point due to Lazus’ other attacks.*
Stat's Required to Use: None
Name: The Sound of Music
Activation: Activates when an opponent uses music in their post
Detailed Description: The tempo of the music used in the post immediately prior to Lazus’ current post affects the rate he gains MAG points. For slow or melancholy songs, 2 MAG points are added to his total. For upbeat or faster paced songs, the number of MAG points Lazus gains at the beginning doubles from its normal rate. If vocals are used, an additional 5 MAG points are added.
Stat's Required to Use: None
Name: Third Person Omniscient
Activation: Once enough MAG points are acquired, Lazus may activate this ability before he actually posts.
Detailed Description: Lazus may read his opponent’s last post prior to writing his own.
Stat's Required to Use: 125 MAG
Name: Punctuality Incarnate
Activation: May only be activated if opponent has not posted in 48 hours for reasons not previously discussed.
Detailed Description: If Lazus’ opponent has not posted in 48 hours for reasons not previously discussed, Lazus may double post. While he can initiate new attacks in these posts, he cannot autohit his opponent. (Unless they have not posted in one week, as permitted by the site rules.)
Stat's Required to Use: None
Name: Set Piece Ascendant
Activation: On Command
Detailed Description: If NPC characters are mentioned by another character, but not given a purpose (such as random people in a town, who were only mentioned because it would be odd not to.), Lazus may take control of them as his own NPC characters.
Stat's Required to Use: 25 MAG per post
Name: Through the Rabbit Hole
Activation: On Command
Detailed Description: Lazus blasts a hole right through the Fourth Wall, creating a passage between the forum thread he is currently in and another one. He and his opponent are immediately dragged through, and the battle will resume in the new thread. Lazus can drag the battle into any thread marked as Open, including the Main RP and PMs.
Stat's Required to Use: 40 MAG
D. Attacks
Attack Template
Name: Sting of the Spelling Bee
Detailed Description: This technique cannot be used on Lazus’ first post. Lazus gathers energy into his clenched fists, which solidifies and expands between the cracks of his fingers, forming needles. One needle is created for every grammatical and spelling error his opponent made in their last post. Once thrown, these needles travel directly through the Fourth Wall, autohitting the opponent. Each needle removes 2% of the target’s total life force, and five needles will drain a single stat point from a category of the opponent’s choosing, which cannot be recovered during the battle. The latter effect is cumulative throughout the battle. These are added to Lazus’ respective reserves. (No actual physical damage is caused, and all stat points gained are converted to MAG.)
*Note: Stylistic grammar mistakes will be overlooked, such as certain sentence fragments. (Ex. Every single attack missed. Go figure.)
Stat's Required to Use: None, but completely dependent on Lazus’ opponent.
Name: Poetry in Motion
Detailed Description: A powerful spell cast through the Fourth Wall. After Lazus uses this technique, his opponent’s next post must be in limerick form-a poem. The rhyme scheme must follow ABAB, and each line may contain no more than seven syllables and no fewer than four. For each error, be it syllabic or rhythmic, the opponent loses 5% of their total life force and 1 stat point from a category of the opponent’s choosing, which cannot be recovered during the battle. Again, Lazus’ health and MAG stat are replenished in direct proportion to the damage caused.
Stat's Required to Use: 50 MAG
Name: Taboo
Detailed Description: Starting the opponent’s post after Lazus announces that this ability is in effect, the letter A becomes Taboo, and may not be used. Every (opponent’s) post, the Taboo letter moves forward through the alphabet. (A is Taboo first, then B in the next post, then C, and so on.) Every time the opponent uses a Taboo letter, its mark is burned into their flesh, and they lose 3% of their total health, which cannot be recovered during the battle. The use of three Taboo letters will result in the loss of a single stat point from a category of the opponent’s choice, which cannot be recovered during the battle. This latter effect is cumulative throughout the fight. Lazus recovers health and MAG stats based on the damage. If Lazus does not pay the stat cost, the Taboo letter does not move forward through the alphabet, and may be used without penalty until Lazus resumes paying the cost.
Stat's Required to Use: 5 MAG
Name: A Bucket of Cold Water
Detailed Description: If an opponent goes out of their way to describe their character as especially beautiful, talented, intelligent, or flirtatious, Lazus will autohit them by dumping a large bucket of frigid water on their head, reducing all stat points by half, rounded downwards, for five posts. However, if the opponent at any time mentions any of the following, the stat loss becomes non-recoverable for the duration of the battle.
A. People in their past who were jealous of their good looks/intelligence/skills.
B. Being treated badly by others who resented their good looks/intelligence/skills.
C. Members of the opposite sex constantly being attracted to them.
D. Getting in trouble for members of the opposite sex being constantly attracted to them. (If this one is mentioned, the stat loss is bumped up to 3/4, non-recoverable for the duration of the battle.)
Stat's Required to Use: None
Name: The Bumbling of Mumbling
Detailed Description: Every time an opponent has two different characters speak in the same paragraph, the stat cost of the next ability or attack to require a stat payment doubles. If no ability or attack of this nature is used between multiple instances, the effect is cumulative.
Stat's Required to Use: None
Name: Hangman
Detailed Description: When this ability is activated, the battle stops completely, and Lazus and his opponent play an all or nothing game of Hangman. Lazus selects a word seven or fewer letters long, and his opponent must spell it out, one letter per post. All of Lazus’ other abilities stay in effect. For every wrong answer his opponent gives, Lazus draws the head, torso, right arm, left arm, right leg, and finally, the left leg in fiery outlines suspended in the air. If the opponent cannot guess the correct letters, they replace the drawing upon its completion and die. If they guess correctly, they may choose to either enslave Lazus for the duration of any thread of their choosing, including a story arc in the Main RP, or kill him. To ensure that Lazus doesn’t cheat, I will PM the word I’ve selected to another RP moderator, who can be called upon to make sure all is going fairly.
Stat's Required to Use: 100 MAG. This ability can only be activated if Lazus’ opponent agrees to play.
Name: Intellectual Property
Detailed Description: If an opponent posts something indicating that their character knows something they should not, (Such as knowing Lazus’ name without having been told it), Lazus will give his opponent a severe mind jolt, paralyzing them for one turn.
Stat's Required to Use: None
Name: Puppeteer
Detailed Description: If another character Godmods Lazus (Not necessarily an autohit, but by having him act or say something in their post), Lazus’ Marionette will take the appearance of that character, and grant him absolute control over their body for one post. Unfortunately, because the Marionette is no longer mimicking Lazus, his body becomes that of a normal human being. As such, he loses the physical characteristics of his puppet body, becoming vulnerable to attack and loosing many of his innate abilities.
Stat's Required to Use: None
Name: An Acceptable Substitute for Intelligence
Detailed Description: Using the Quote button, Lazus may quote one of the attacks or abilities he used in a previous post. The stat cost for the quoted move is negated.
Stat's Required to Use: 25 MAG for the first use, with 20 additional MAG points for each subsequent use.
Name: The 800 Pound Gorilla
Detailed Description: If Lazus’ opponent ignores, misreads (Not a simple misunderstanding, something major), or blatantly disregards something Lazus did in his last post, he may summon an 800 pound gorilla into battle, which will promptly open of a can of whup ass. The Gorilla removes 2% of the opponent’s health for each word in the ignored passage. The gorilla mysteriously vanishes when finished.
Stat's Required to Use: None
Jester Abilities
Name: Fire Eater
Detailed Description: Lazus possesses rudimentary control over the element of fire, and can manipulate it in battle to a limited degree. This is confined to blowing streams of fire out of his mouth, throwing fireballs, writing fiery messages in the air Voldemort style, and imbuing his physical attacks with flame attributes.
Stat's Required to Use: 3 MAG for fire breath and adding flame attributes to attacks, 2 MAG for every fireball, and none for writing.
Name: Dagger Touch
Detailed Description: Lazus sheathes his fingernails in energy, forming sharp, needle-like claws. Because of their thinness, however, they do very little damage, though they are excruciatingly painful.
Stat's Required to Use: 2 MAG per post
Name: Double Edged Needle
Detailed Description: Using an energy sheathed forefinger as a hypodermic needle, Lazus can inject a bit of his own energy and regenerative properties into an opponent. At the beginning of his opponent’s next post, the opponent will gain 1 stat point in a single category of his choosing for ten posts. Afterwards, however, the stat points in that category drop to 0 for the remainder of the battle. This ability can be used concurrently.
Stat's Required to Use: 20 MAG
Final Smash/Limit Break
Your ultimate attack with the use of a smash ball or limit break
Name: Lunatic Wheel
Detailed Description: At the beginning of every post for five posts, the number of MAG points Lazus receives doubles, as opposed to every other post.
