Chapter 2: Search for Protection

Snicket sighed regretfully, shaking his head. "I'm tired of trying to reason with you. I'm beginning to see what you and Mariella have in common: both extremely stubborn and arrogant, and both like to assume things which you do not know. Since you did try to reach me in Subspace, however, I suppose you deserve some type of reward. I will tell you that there is another delicate balance in the Nintendo World; however, this type of balance cannot be broken by you or I alone; if it were, though, it would mean chaos resulting in the ultimate destruction of the Nintendo World, and possibly Earth as well. Professor, you may activate your invention anytime..."

And Professor E. Gadd complied as he pushed the button on his remote control.

From inside the lab the gushing sound of rushing water could be heard, getting louder as it flowed through the building.

"Um, Professor," Snicket asked, "what about all of your equipment?"

E. Gadd chuckled. "Don't worry about that; when I activate the Hydrogush, the lab automatically goes into secure lockdown mode; no damage or loss will be done."

"So," Snicket said as the basement was already filled with water. "Now we wait." He folded his arms and smiled.

The Blue Kismet landed in front of the SSS.

DONIN:i wonder what Geo and Ekin are doing. . .

Staunch walked on the Blue Kismet's deck way high up (remember this space ship is huuuge).
Staunch: So this is the SSS... too bad MM isn't here...
*Staunch takes out the two shard pieces from his pocket that Smashbro. needed for the SSS.
Amy walks next to Staunch.
Amy: It's nice to smell some fresh air *looks at Staunch* are you okay?
Staunch: Huh? Oh... it's just...
Amy: MM? He is probably okay.
Amy starts heading down the Blue Kismet to the SSS.
Amy: Come on, Staunch. We have to bring those shards to that Smashbro. guy.
Staunch: Yeah... I'll be down there in a sec.
Amy: Suit yourself *leaps down*
Staunch: *looks at sky* MM...
Falco and Fox run pasts Staunch jumping of the Kismet to the SSS.
Wolf walks past him.
Wolf: Get over it, runt.
Thump comes over to Staunch.
Thump: Articuvouch is going to stay here while we go in the SSS... hey, buddy. Your not acting like yourself.
Staunch: Come on, let's go give these shards.
Thump and Staunch follow Amy, Wolf, Fox, and Falco into the SSS.
Meanwhile at the other side of the Blue Kismet...
Mario: Why dont you stop sitting up there and come on with us.
Sonic: Dont push it bud. I dont wanna'.
Mario: You sure are stubborn. Well whatever. I'm off to find some pasta in the SSS.
Sonic runs in front of Mario.
Sonic: You know. I geuss I'll come to look for a chilli dog.
Come on. Let's go find that kitchen!
Mario: OK! Soundsa good to me!

[Dobs]

Dobs: Crap he actually did it... anyone got a plan?
Kin: Dont look at me....Doom?
Doom: I got nothin...

Mariella was sitting, trying to think of what to do next when she noticed that her feet had began to get wet. Within moments the water had reached her knees.

Mariella: I suggest that you think a wee bit faster.

Just then a shelf in the lab began to sway back and forth as it floated. A large toolbox fell and hit Dobs on the head. Dobs immedietly blacked out and began floating on the surface of the rising water. The group shortly discovered that waluigi had suffered a similar fate. Mariella looked out the window to see Snicket and the creators, watching and waiting for them to back down.

we can't let them win.

Mariella: Popo, Nana! Do you guys think you could freeze the water so that it doesnt rise anymore? The ice will cause Gadd's machine to back up, and we'll have an opportunity to escape and get these guys out of here safe.

Popo and Nana looked at each other and nodded.

Popo: Everyone get above the water level so that you don't get frozen.

Mariella and Doom lifted Dobs safely out of the water to the second floor, Kin and yoshi did the same for waluigi. The ice climbers first began by hitting ice blocks into the water in a rapid succession. Then, once the water was cool enough they began to continuosly use their blizzard attack. However, the water continued to rise. Finally, after having reached the top step, the water, and Gadd's lab, was frozen solid.

Mariella: There. This should buy us some time. Anyone know how to fly an Aberithan Battle cruiser? it appears that our second pilot is currently incapacitated. Nobody? alright, we'll just have to squeeze eight people in a ship that seats two....magical.

Mariella pushed some buttons on her wrist and her ship landed on the roof. The group slowly loaded onto the overpacked cruiser and took off from the frozen lab. Smoke began rising out of the small basement windows, telling the group that the Hydrogush had finnally overloaded.

Mariella: Whatever they are looking for, it'll take them a while to get to now... but they will still get it... S**tbiscuits!
Kin: We did the best we could...
Mariella: Yea but in the end, it still wasn't good enough

[Doomflame]

Doom takes out the Dorito's and eats them.
Doom: hmm...Dorito's.....*chewing* so what should we do now? go and stop him? decide and wake me up when you'r done.
Dark: I tell ya, he has no brain....*kicks him*.....i think he's dead....

[Mariomasher]

OOC:Just so u know, DMM looks exactlylike MM (Excluding Moves which have shadow in em) and MM is DMM until i pst DMM

MM appeared
MM:Hey guys!Im alive!

Staunch: MM! Glad your back.
Falco: So where is Smashbro?
Thump: I'll find out...

HEY SMASHBRO!! WE HAVE THE THINGS YOU WERE LOOKING FOR!!

Finally, those persistent aspirers had left...

Snicket sighed in relief. "Wow, I thought they would have tried blowing up the lab or something...things turned out well...and as for the frozen water...that's where Flame Hand comes in!"

Snicket turned to Flame Hand, who for some reason never spoke. "Flame Hand, could you thaw out the lab and melt all the ice?"

Instead of answering, the red burning hand floated over to the door and pressed himself to it; within seconds, the door was thawed out, and he could open it to find solid ice. Flame Hand proceeded to burn his way through the ice, melting all of it; he was careful not to scorch any inventions or walls.

After about ten minutes, he returned with his task completed; all the water above the basement had poured out of the doors and windows, but the basement itself was still filled with water.

"Now I just need to open the drain and...Presto!" Gadd said as he flipped a switch on the remote control. They went inside (the door was large enough for the Hands) and found everything mostly dry due to Flame Hand's heat. They went into the basement to watch the last of the water drain into a large drain which had opened up in the bottom; the drained water was absorbed into the ground.

"Alright," Master Hand said rather impatiently. "Let's see this device of yours, Professor..."

Gadd nodded. "Follow me."

He led them across the basement to a giant vault door. Gadd twisted the dial this way and that for a moment, then with a grunt of effort pulled the vault open.

Inside was a small square room with a large complicated machine in the center. This machine had an array of buttons, keyboards, and switches, flashing lights, and on top was a large glass dome within which blue lightning-like energy crackled restlessly.

"This ," said E. Gadd, "is the Power Reactomegamplifrejuvinabsorbiflyinator. I had just been putting the finishing touches on it when you arrived in Subspace, but it has never been tested. This beauty has the ability to expell or extract any type of energy from any source, and these controls allows you to specify exactly what you wish to do. All I have to do is set up the correct instructions, and it will extract all magical, supernatural, unordinary, and godly abilities from any person or group of people we desire."

"This is...amazing, Professor, to say the least," Snicket said as he gazed transfixed at the complexity of this machine. "How long did it take you to construct such a wonder?"

"Oh, a couple weeks," Gadd said casually. "I just added a bit here and there in my spare time...but what do you think, lad?"

"I think that this is exactly what we need." Snicket's dark blue eyes flashed, and he smiled grimly.

He sensed that they left. " Oh well", he obliterated the maze. " Hehehee... Everyone was gone right?" he laughed at the ruins of the obstacle course. " Too bad", he walked off after freezing up the cracks in the ground. " Oh this is better than expected", he looked down and saw a sword glowing with deadly energy. He pulled his giant legend sword out. " Saki de remo!" the two swords shined then fused. Now his giant sword had dark green energy swirling around it. He was just walking in the forest until a bear tryed to kill him. He stabbed the bear and focused making the bear explode from the energy of the sword. He kept on walking and dragging the sword. " I need a good fight already!" he saw he was near civilization. " Finally!" he smiled. " Another city comes tumbling down!"

Amy: Appearantly your screaming for Smashbro didn't work, Thump.
Thump: Strange. He must be far down.
Staunch: Well, you guys go back to the SSS. I'm going take a look around with Fox, Falco, MM, and Wolf.
Wolf: What about Sonic and Mario?
Staunch: Beats me.
MM: Let's go find Smashbro!

Meanwhile Sonic flashed pass them to a room with Mario.
Mario: How do you know where the kitchen is?
Sonic: I've done and seen everything. Come on!

[Mariomasher]

MM:'Once they lead me to this SSS group I'll be able to destroy them!'

OOC:Remember that MM is currently DMM (Dark/evil Mariomasher)

Staunch, MM, Fox, Falco, and Wolf continue looking through rooms in the SSS.

OOC: What room are you in Smashbro?

"Hi, guys!" said smashbro, approaching the group. "I would have came to you earlier, but i was researching...something...really important. Now, we've got to find the last Niluck piece."
"Thats what you were looking up?" asked Fox.
"...yeah...yeah and i found out its on shadow moses island." said smashbro. "I think Artistik also wanted to go with us, so once we find him we can head out."

Falco: Are we going to travel in the Blue Kismet?
