i do not/will not discriminate consoles, but yeah....it doesn't seem to take much for a 360 to break down...i should know since i am PRETTY sure the reason mine stopped working was.....dog related.....not ring of death... Now 360 is the LAST system on my list of new consoles, but yeah, i feel for ya completely TL, I just want a Wii before i buy any other system, because there are more games i want for the Wii, and besides my neighbor will be getting a 360 here soon, and setting it up in my livingroom

If you don't buy the extened warranity, for anything, you're begging for something to break down. If you want to waste your time instead of just walking in and picking up a new one in ten minutes; you sir don't have a good grip on logic.
Very little of my friends have ever gotten red rings, and even so they've only gotten it once. How in the world is Microsoft suppose to make sure that your dog does whatever (whatever Jukan was talking about) and doesn't break. If console companies spent their entire time making sure that annomilies don't occur to their consoles, they'd be out of buisness. The only times my friend's 360's have broken down is when theirs overheated, which was self inflicted.
And to be frank: I've had more problems with my PS2 and it playing games/controllers than my 360, and my Wii never seems to ever turn off (there's a blue light that flickers on and on). My 360 is the only thing that's actually normal and is reliable of the three (I know, shocking).

My 360 is the only thing that's actually normal and is reliable of the three (I know, shocking). Thanks for indirectly calling me an idiot again. Thanks Seriously, what's your problem??? Besides, I had me N64 since it came out, move from NJ to FL with it, it went through lightning storms, and it still never gave me problems and I had it for a long time (and I cannot tell how long I had it because I cannot remember). The PS2 I had partial problems with because I left the control attached to the machine and my dog dropped the console which in turn caused the disk tray to act weird but other than that it was fine (this is case where the system acting up is my fault). I gotten my Wii a couple months after I got the 360, so around February I got the console. Since then it still does not give me any problems (hopefully saying this do not jinx it). So why my 360 got the Red Rings of Death is still a surprise to me, like I already told you I take very good care of anything I own. So please can quit with the hostility? It sooooo does not look good on you @ Angel: Thank you! I know I'm going to miss Tales of Vesperia T_T

Extended warranties are, in my opinion, only necessary when you have a mentally disabled individual living in your home. Otherwise, if you aren't reckless with your system then nothing major will happen.
But since this thing is an internal problem, it was not something you could have predicted. Sure, there were some PS2 difficulties with the original model (the model I still own), but those were repairable by the user for no charge whatsoever. Looking at the history of the consoles you have owned TL, not buying the extended warranty was your logical choice.
Besides, I've spoken with the Microsoft people and they extended the default warranty for everyone by 3 years once the Red Ring problem arose, so TL you are most likely getting the repair free of charge because of this (purchased in 2007, warranty good through 2010 or late 2009). In this case, purchasing extended warranty would be pointless unless you have 360-smashing Goblins living nearby.
And as for the games, well I heard a rumor that one of Vesperia's voice actors for the English version is going in for another recording session, which may be for the extra stuff in the PS3 version of Vesperia. I'm not entirely sure though, but keep your fingers crossed!

They are going to send the package that I have to ship my 360 in and that's about it from my end. Though, I'm going to have to wait about a month for the repairs to be completed . But, as long as it gets fixed I do not care how long it takes. Thanks for the info about Mircosoft's warranty policies. :3 As for the Vesperia thing, I heard about that as well. I hope its true because quite frankly, Namco would be a fool not to localize the ToV PS3 edition. I really want all those costumes and new moving mystic arts
