Squirtle. IMO, it is the best choice for all the gym battles. All in all, water beats most of the gyms in Kanto.

Hmm, this one is a hard one to be honest.. Bulbasaur get's the edge somewhat for being a grass Pokemon.. but in the end, I prefer a Charizard over a Blastoise and a Venasaur so I guess I'm going to have to go with the Charmander.
