Welcome all to the Call of Duty, World at War thread!I am your host, Souryaku and I will be giving you a guide to achieve your position of commander! I also have with me, my co-host and partner in Crime, IOY or ICY! he is experienced with probably the guns opposite to me so this is perfect!
Well, for starters, this is a guide for online players only! I assume all who read this will start at level 1 first prestige so I will begin there. You are a new player, you probably only know the guns through story mode but not how to use them effectively. Well get ready to never see half of those guns again for the next week. You acquire more guns the more you level up and you level up by getting points whether healing someone or completing an objective but mostly through kills. As you level up, your goal is to reach level 65, commander. This is where you have the choice to go prestige. Once you go prestige, you go back to level one but with a new emblem and maybe even a character class slot opened up for you. This is the list of prestige symbols:
Now, I'll stop here in case there are any additional comments from IOY.
IOY's tips and tricks:
Sniper: If you are a sniper, I suggest you get into a high up building and have bouncing betties. In the map Castle for example, if you're sniping, the most used sniper spots are the upstairs to the main building where all the shooting usually goes on in the beginning of the game or going up the stairs to get to the actual castle area. If you're in the actual castle area, placing betties on the near stairs and far stairs are your best bets. In the battle zone area, placing betties by the ladder and the stairs is definately your best bet.
SMG's: When using a sub-machine gun: Just go RAMBO. Run right into enemy lines and go crazy. Unless you like to ambush, then hide in a place no one would expect. Going RAMBO can cause you to die many times but also get many kills. Ambushing requires patience and accuracy. I go RAMBO most of the time though. A satchel charge is probably a good perk to go with this weapon.
Shotty: When using a shotgun: If you're using the double-barreled shotgun, the suggested way is to not rush in considering you have two shots before reloading. Mixing waiting and running would help with the double-barreled shotgun. Using the trenchgun, you can definately run and gun. It has more than two shots you just have a second delay between each one. Do NOT use steady aim with this weapon.
When using machine guns: These weapons are heavy, but have medium-long range. So sprinting with this weapon isn't a good idea. You can shoot enemies from a distance and kill them with 3-5 shots. Do not spray and pray with this weapon. The recoil is too high.
When using a normal rifle: 1-2 shots usually kills an enemy, I haven't had much experience with this kind of weapon, so sour can cover this one.
Well IOY, I may as well cover rifles considering the first character class once unlocked(you unlock create-a-class mode at level 4) is the SVT-40.
Heres the synopsis:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
main gun: SVT-40
side arm: Colt M1911
primary grenade: frag
special grenade: signal flare
Perk 1: satchel charge x2
Perk 2: stopping power
perk 3: extreme conditioning
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well this character class isn't horrible but it definitely ain't no M16. Satchel charge provides anti tank support. I suggest throwing these bombs at the back of a tank(which is the weakspot), changing back to your gun and double tapping square to make it go boom boom. Stopping power increases bullet damage allowing SVT-40 to kill within 2-3 shots to the body and one to the head. Stopping power is probably the best perk for faster and easier kills. Extreme conditioning only allows you to run further before slowing down. This character class is definitely for large-scale maps with tanks and such. This character class is also effective on levels like castle and asylum but are not meant for small areas like dome.
