Chapter One
Roy stood at the door inside Links room, watching his best friend and sparring partner pace in annoyance. He stopped trying to calm Link down after Link got too annoyed and shot an arrow at him. Marth had stepped out to get food for the three of them and by the sound of it he was just making his was up the stairs. Roy, Marth and Link were staying in Zelda's Summer home, which strangely looked like a smaller version of Hyrule castle, on Lake Hylia.
"I'm back, has he stopped pacing yet?" Roy looked out into the hallway at Marth and shook his head. He looked back at Link, shrugged and let Marth into the room. Marth was carrying a crude leather bag with what smelled like sub-par food in it. Marth pulled out a small box and handed it to Roy, took out a medium sized box and put it on the table for Link, then pulled out another small box for himself.
"Ah, so you did find a steak house for me." Roy had opened his box to find a juicy steaming steak inside. He grabbed his sword, cut it up into bites, cleaned his sword off on his shirt, re-sheathed it and began eating his lunch. Marth laughed at his childhood friend, then opened his box to reveal four drumsticks, and went to town on one of them. "Hey Link, your greyfang steak sub is getting cold over here."
Link stopped pacing, sighed and opened the box to see a large sub, cut in half, stuffed into it. He grabbed one half of it and began eating, but still seemed to have a daydream haze about him. Roy and Marth looked at each other then began laughing at Link's seriousness. Link finished with the half he had picked up and started eating the second half, but stopped multiple times with an almost depressed look stamped on his face.
"LINK!" Link jumped, dropping the sub, causing it to break open on the ground and send the contents spilling across the floor. Zelda burst into the room, tears streaming down her face and a look of sadness that broke your heart. She ran into Link's arms and cried harder than he ever wanted to see.
"Zelda, what's the matter?" Zelda pulled back and stared him in the eyes. He could almost see what she was crying about playing in her eyes. Zelda haded him a letter that she had received a bit earlier and he read it over. "WHAT?!?!" He looked at Roy and Marth and signaled them to give him a minute. They stepped out and Link continued to read the letter.
"Link *sobs* some strange woman killed the sword bearer and then used the sword to kill my father." Link looked from the letter to Zelda then pulled Zelda back into a hug.
"I will avenge your father's death, Zelda. I will not rest until this sword thief is taken care of." Zelda still cried hard against Link's chest, but seemed to calm down a bit. Roy and Marth came back into the room and said that they would help him, even if it cost them their lives. Link nodded and looked out the window opposote the door. 'Whoever did this is going to be hard to deal with, I'm going to need the old gang.'
After Zelda stopped crying, Link, Roy and Marth took their leave for the closest place they could find a friend, Mushroom Kingdom.
