CHAPTER 16: SHOWDOWN OF FINAL DESTINY
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This is where it began. The storm grew even more intense. Lightning flashed even brighter. The thunder roared even louder. A lightning bolt struck the roof, and caused it to snap in half and fall. Rain fell from the sky and pounded the arena.
Metal Sonic began to transform again. Not physically, however. A black mist seeped out of his metallic body. It was almost see-through. The mist made a “ssssss” sound.f
The mist circled around in the air for a few moments before finally taking on the form of a dark creature.
It had a small black head, with a giant white tuft coming out of the top. Its eyes were icy and blue.
Around its neck was a red, jagged collar, which resembled the lower half of the jaw. From the back of the collar was a black misty cape.
On its shoulders were two wavy spikes. They weren’t exactly spikes, though.
Its lower body looked like a torn dress of some sort.
This, of course was the very image of fear itself: Darkrai.
The door to the arena began to close, and Pikachu, Link, Samus, Meta Knight, and Red dashed through it and were teleported to the arena.
“Hmhmhmhm...” Darkrai quietly laughed. “Very impressive, Mario... but I’m afraid your life ends now.” His words were dark and cold.
FSING! Red and the others reappeared on the stadium. Darkrai’s misty cape was blowing in the nonexistent wind.
“And that goes for your pathetic little band, as well. Because you have caused me enough trouble, I will personally see to the destruction of your useless lives.”
With a single swipe of his hand, Mario and the others all fell asleep, and Darkrai vanished.
Mario awoke, but did not find himself in the stadium. He was in outer space now.
“Whoa! Where am I?” Mario asked.
“You are in my domain.”
”What?” Mario said. “What do you mean? And what do you want?!”
“I am the one who has caused all the past events. The kidnapping of Pit, the assault on the temple, everything. I took over Metal Sonic’s body because I needed a figure with enough power to get me where I am. I started this war and I intend to end it. And I can start by getting rid of YOU!”
Darkrai shot a black ball from his hand at Mario who flew out of the way.
“Do not attempt to avoid my attacks. You WILL die!”
He continued to hurl black balls at Mario, who managed to dodge each and every one.
“Hmm. Perhaps it was a bad idea to go for you first. Perhaps your little friends would like to challenge me?
“WASAAAR!”
FWOOOOOSH!
A massive blast of fire came out of nowhere and enveloped Darkrai. After holding the attack, Red’s Charizard stopped. Darkrai looked over at the young trainer.
“Your Charizard is poorly trained.”
“Take that back!” Red demanded.
Everybody else who had fallen victim to Darkrai’s sleep spell appeared.
“Now that you’re all here, it will be much easier for me to bring about your demise.”
Darkrai slightly lowered his head, and made several copies of himself. There were now 7 Darkrai.
“Do not think that I would attempt to go after you all by my self,” the real Darkrai said. “That would be rather boring.”
Mario and the others all scattered away, but Darkrai’s copies chased after them. Darkrai himself chased Mario.
“What’s the matter? Afraid of the DARK?”
Mario turned and Darkrai uppercutted the plumber. Darkrai turned into a mist and wrapped himself around Mario and the only really recognizable part of Darkrai was part of his upper body. Mario was squirming to get away, but Darkrai’s grip was too strong.
“Don’t try to escape. It is no use. It is futile to try and escape my power.”
“What are we supposed to do? Darkrai and his copies are to fast!” Meta Knight said.
“We fight!” Samus replied, and fired an Energy Shot at a Darkrai clone, and it vanished.
“CHUUUUU!” Pikachu shot a powerful thunderbolt attack at the Darkrai clone that had attacked him and it too vanished.
“HOYAYAYAYA!” Meta Knight hacked his clone to death. After laying various markings on it, the clone vanished.
Link shot a boomerang at his clone, and sliced it in half, and it vanished.
Everyone gathered into a group, and Darkrai appeared in front of them.
“Very good,” he said. “I am very impressed you managed to take down the clones. But now.... now is where it all ends.... Once I defeat you all... the world will be mine! Planet Nintendo will be under my control! I will reign as its grandmaster! And NONE of you will be able to stop me! AHAHAHAHA!”
A chill shot up their spines. They knew what they were in for now. They had to face Darkrai himself.
“This is it,” Mario said. “The final battle.”
Darkrai laughed. “Do not think you will claim victory over me. Did you forget this is MY domain? I can do whatever I want here! You stand no chance against me!”
Darkrai lifted his hands into the air, and all around him, meteorites appeared.
“Prepare to die!”
The meteorites, surrounded in fire, flew at the Smashers, who managed to dodge them.
“GAAGH!”
One of the meteorites had flown into Meta Knight, shattering his mask. It burst into pieces, and his true face was revealed.
He looked just like Kirby, only with bright yellow eyes and a small, black mouth.
“Hahaha!” Darkrai laughed, who had gone power-mad, much like Metal Sonic. “Now you see what I can do!”
Meta Knight groaned and shook his head and flew at Darkrai with his sword.
Darkrai placed his right arm beside him and it shape shifted into a sword. They attacked each other, Meta Knight hoping he could overpower Darkrai.
But it was no use. Darkrai shifted his left hand into a sword as well, and slammed Meta Knight towards Samus, who moved out of the way.
“Pika....CHUUUU!!” Pikachu shot a powerful bolt of electricity at Darkrai, who simply absorbed it with his hand, and shot it back at the little yellow mouse. After looking around for a brief second, Darkrai shot the remaining electricity at everyone else, stunning them.
“Ugh... he’s way too strong... we’ll never win this...” Link said.
“We can’t give up hope yet....” Samus replied.
“But what’s the point of fighting something we can’t defeat...?” Pikachu said back to Samus. “He knows our every weakness....our every fear... Darkrai is the very embodiment of fear and evil itself. We can’t defeat him.”
“We-a can at least try!” Mario replied. He hadn’t given up hope yet.
“Your little mouse friend is right! You cannot defeat me! I am invincible! You fools do not stand a chance against my supreme power!!”
Pikachu began to feel a small tingle in its stomach. That small tingle eventually took over his whole body, and he became surrounded in a multicolored aura. Pikachu’s eyes flashed and grinned at Darkrai.
“W...what!?” Darkrai said, alarmed.
“Pika...CHUUUUUUUU!!!!!!” Pikachu became engulfed in electricity and zoomed towards Darkrai. He slammed into the evil deity several times, making several sparks occur, and finally electrocuted Darkrai.
“GRAAGH!” He screamed in pain from the attack.
“What was... could that have been the secret power we were given from Miyamoto...?” Pikachu wondered.
“It... would make sense....” Link replied. He began to feel the tingle next. He took out his bow, grabbed an arrow, and shot it at Darkrai which pierced through his chest. Two Triforce trapped him in between them, and Link flew in and slashed at Darkrai numerous times, the ended his assault with one final swipe of his sword.
“GUAAHGH!” Darkrai screamed. “This can’t be possible! How can you have this power!!?!”
Meta Knight felt it after Link attacked. Meta Knight grabbed his cape and swung it around, causing pitch blackness to occur. With a single swipe of Galaxia, a massive horizontal light could be seen, and Darkrai screamed again.
“AAAARHG!! This is impossible!!”
Red felt it next, and called out all three of his Pokemon; Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard, all three were raring to go.
“Take this! TRIPLE FINISH!”
Charizard shot a Fire Blast, Ivysaur shot a Solar Beam, and Squirtle shot a Hydro Pump. Darkrai moved out of the way, but they angled their attack back at him, impaling the evil creature.
“RRRRRRHGAAAH! PLEASE, STOP! I BEG OF YOU, STOP!!” Darkrai begged.
“You had your chance, and you blew it!” Samus said, who felt the sensation next. She charged up an energy shot for as long as she could and fired it, only for it to come out as a massive, powerful beam. It slowly headed for Darkrai but quickly picked up speed. It slammed into him and took over his entire body.
“RAHGHGHGAAG! WHY CAN’T I MOVE?! THIS ISN’T RIGHT! THIS IS MY WORLD!”
“This is OUR dream-a now, Darkrai. and since it’s a dream, we-a can do whatever we want, including making you-a unable to move,” Mario replied, and felt the energy flowing through him. “And now... this... this is where it ends.”
Mario moved his hands in front of him, with small embers between them. He clapped his hands together, and a massive, powerful blast of fire seeped out of his hands in a set of two, moving in a zigzag pattern.
The blast headed directly for Darkrai, who still could not move at all.
“WAIT! NO! THIS CAN’T BE HAPPENING!!”
FYOOOOSH!
The attack came in contact with Darkrai’s body and burrowed through it, putting him in even more considerable pain.
“GLAAAGGHARGH!!!!!!!!”
Darkrai yelled as loud as he could, and after Mario’s attack ended, multiple beams of light shot out of Darkrai’s body, and the dream ended.
“Uh... wha...” Mario said after waking up. Everyone else woke up and saw Darkrai floating where he was, electricity surrounding him. He was shaking, almost as if he was cold.
“I guess since Darkrai was the embodiment of evil and dreams, he could only beat him in one!” Red said.
“We-a did it, guys! We managed to defeat the most-a powerful villain in history!”
“GRUAAAGH!”
Mario looked behind him, and Darkrai’s body was vanishing from the bottom up.
“AAAGH! GRUAHGH! NAARGAAARrrrgh....”
His screams became quieted as the upper-half of his body vanished into thin air. The black mist that had come out of Metal Sonic’s body floated into the air and vanished.
The sky cleared up and the clouds moved, and the storm stopped. The sun shone over the stadium.
Neo Metal Sonic’s body was still in the same spot it was when defeated, only his colors had gone back to normal.
“Is... Is it really over?” Yoshi asked.
“Yes..... It is,” Mario replied, smiling.
