CHAPTER 14: THE FINAL MATCH

NMS’ cape was blowing in the wind behind him.
“Well, Mario? I’m ready when you are.”
Mario was more than ready. He was determined. He wouldn’t let a robot rule the world, let alone one that resembled Sonic.
“You and your little band of friends have had their last stand,” the robot said. “Now we will take over this world.”
“I don’t think so!” Mario said, and ran for the robot.
NMS dashed towards Mario and uppercutted him, and then kicked him into the ground.
THUD!!
The impact was so hard, the ground cracked beneath Mario when he landed. The plumber weakly got up, that attack had cause decent damage to him.
“Ugh.... that’s smarts...”
Mario stared at his opponent, now even more determined. He now knew his opponent was strong. NMS simply stood there.
“Hm,” NMS said. “Did you really think you could defeat me?”
“This fight’s-a just getting started!” Mario exclaimed, and shot a fire ball at Neo Metal, who dodged the attack. He ran for his robotic foe, and punched him in the stomach.
“Oof!” NMS moaned. Mario proceeded to do a backflip away from the enemy.
“You pack a punch, Mario,” the robot said. “We could use you for our takeover.”
“I’ll never join you!”
“Then you leave me no choice but to dispose of you.”
NMS charged up a blast of electricity and shot it at Mario, who dodged. Mario then shot another fireball, NMS dodged this one as well.
“Chaos... Control!”
With a single swipe of his arm, Neo Metal Sonic disappeared.
“Huh? Where’d he go?”
He reappeared behind Mario, and kicked him all the way across the arena.
“WHOOA!”
Mario slammed into the bleachers and got up, and NMS charged another energy blast at him. Mario quickly dodged and jumped into the air, and shot another fireball, directly at Neo. The attack hit, and the robot flew up into the air. Mario proceed to meteor smash the robot into the ground.
“DUGHA!” The robot screamed.
“Oh yeah! How you like-a that?!”
The robot quickly got up and slammed Mario. The plumber slid across the arena.
“What about that, hm?”
Mario ran for the robot, ready to punch, but Neo Metal Sonic dodged at the last second and tripped Mario. The plumber fell to the ground.
“Face it, Mario. I cannot be defeated. My strength is unmatched.”
“Tell that to Chuck Norris,” Mario quietly said.
“Well? Are you going to give up? Or do I have to continue to pulverize you?”
“I’m-a not giving up,” Mario said.
“Very well then,” NMS said, and dashed towards Mario, and punched him in the gut.
“GUOF!!”
Neo Metal Sonic flew upwards, turning his attack into an uppercut. When they were high enough, he kicked Mario into the ground.
“If you’re trying to defeat me, you are doing a very terrible job,” Neo said. “The keyword there is ‘trying’.”
He picked Mario up, and threw him across the arena.
“It doesn’t matter that you got two hits in on me. They won’t be enough to stop me. Planet Nintendo is mine, and there is nothing you can do about it. You were better off not entering this tournament at all, and letting me simply take over the world and kill all your friends.”
(He’s right...) Mario thought to himself. (I don’t stand a chance against him... I may as well just... no, I can’t do that. I have to win this. Neo Metal Sonic cannot win this fight! He cannot take over the world!)
“Well, Mario? Ready to give up?”
“No!”
Metal Sonic began charging electricity between his fingers. “Then you leave me no choice.”
He went to grab Mario, but was interrupted by Luigi.
“Mario! Catch!”
Out of nowhere, a star came flying out, and Mario managed to catch it.
“What is that?!” NMS blared.
“This just might be my ticket to your defeat!” Mario said confidently, and crushed the star.
Glowing sparks flew out of the star, all different colors; red, blue, green, yellow, orange, and purple. There were possibly two dozen of them. They all circled Mario, and the plumber began to glow, the sparks still circling him.
“Ugh! What is this?!”
“Your defeat!” Mario said, and uppercutted Metal Sonic high into the air. Mario then jumped after his opponent and double-fisted him into the ground.
“GAHG!”
Sparks surrounded NMS’ body, making a “ZZT” sound. The robot was not moving.
The tournament was over.
Mario had won.
