Chapter 29: The Final Encounter Part 1
The sea air was calmly blowing in Mossdeep City. The volcano in Hoenn was issuing black smoke high in the air, but that remained the only sign of Ridley in the small town. Suddenly from behind the Space Shuttle building, two Medicham materialized in a fighting stance, quickly followed by the teleportation of Alakazam, Meowth, Blaziken, Absol, and Haunter.
Meowth: “I think I’m going to puke!”
Blaziken: “Teleportation can be rough the first few times.”
Alakazam: “Ok, behind you is the rocket. What I need you all to do is go gather as many pokeballs as you can. I’m going to inform the Network to start teleporting pokemon here.”
As Alakazam was speaking to the group, a shuttle worker walked around the corner, no doubt heading towards the back entryway. His eyes widened and his jaw dropped as spotted the peculiar group of pokemon. Realizing his luck in locating such a gambit of types, he crept slowly towards them, trying not to make a sound. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a single pokeball which housed his very own Magneton. The other hand grasped for a spare pokeball in his bag.
Man: “Oh, score! Magneton I choose…”
Meowth: “Get outta here! We don’t have time for you!”
Man: “WHAT? A talking Meowth?”
Meowth: “That’s right sucker now beat it.”
As the man fell upon upon his posterior, Meowth jumped and clawed the man across the face. Holding his cuts, the worker scrambled to his feet, and pelted around the corner of the building and out of sight.
Blaziken: “Well this could be a problem. There are workers all over that building and if they see us all out here, they may decide to have some bright ideas like that one.”
Haunter: “Leave them to me. I have a few tricks I can perform.”
Alakazam: “Sounds good, Haunter. Now, you three need to head down the hill to the store and grab as many pokeballs as you can. I shall return shortly. Hurry, for we do not know the length of time we have left.”
Alakazam inclined his head towards them and vanished on the spot with both Medicham following closely behind. Haunter chuckled as he began to float through the wall of the building. Quickly, Meowth, Blaziken and Absol ran to the opposite end of the building and towards the edge of the area. At the bottom of the hill, they could see the shop. Absol jumped from ledge to ledge as he made his way down the slopes. Blaziken, on the other hand, simply ran down the side of the hill as fast as he could. In an attempt to hurry down the slope as well, Meowth took two leaps but landed on a soft spot of dirt. The ground gave way as his foot met the earth, causing Meowth to slip and tumble head over heels down the slope ultimately slaming into the side of the shop below. Absol landed a few feet away from the splattered cat, while Blaziken slid in the dirt to a halt beside him. Meowth peeled himself from the brick wall, shook his head vigorously and began to rub his nose. The three made their way to the front of the store and peered into the window. The location housed an unusually large number of people for such a small store. They began to watch from behind the pane of glass as people browsed through the aisles. Neither could see any sign of a pokeball, till an elderly man walked up to the counter. He and the clerk were conversion for several minutes before the clerk presented a handful of pokeballs in exchange for cash. Meowth pointed towards the clerk then made his way around to the side of the building once more.
Meowth: “Well it looks like the owner has all the goods, but how are we going to get those pokeballs?”
Blaziken: “Well whatever we do, we gotta do it fast. Alakazam has more than likely already informed the Network, and will soon be appearing near the rocket.”
Meowth: “Maybe there’s a way to sneak in without him knowing. Hold on “
Absol: “Why don’t we just…”
Absol’s sentence was too late, for the flustered Meowth ran acround the back corner for a look around the building. Absol rolled his eyes as they stood waiting on the cat to return. He ran back around the corner jumping up and down.
Meowth: “There’s a bunch of crates around here and there’s a small window in the back. I’ll see if I can’t get it open, sneak behind him and toss the pokeballs out the window and into one of the boxes.”
Absol: “If you’d just listen, I could simply…”
But once again, before Absol could speak, Meowth disappeared around the corner. Absol let out a sigh of irritation as Blaziken shook his head. Both pokemon crept back to the front window for a better look at Meowth’s plan. They stood looking around and within seconds located the said window. They continued to stare until they saw Meowth’s face appear behind the glass near the roof of the building. Meowth began to pull the window up with all his strength, but it would not budge. He continued this several more times before he became angry with its stubbornness. Abandoning all common sense, Meowth began to beat the glass with his hands, shouting obscenities at it.
Absol: “Idiot. I know he’s trying, but he needs to use his brain every once in awhile. I have an idea! Lean down here and follow my instructions exactly.”
Blaziken leaned town towards Absol. After listening to his every word, Blaziken nodded his head and ran around to the back of the store. Absol however ran to the corner to wait. Shortly after, the opportunity he seeked was provided. A woman holding the hand of a small child made their way towards the store. As they approached the door, it slid open automatically. Absol made a dash for the door as the pair walked through it. Barely making it through before the electric door closed, Absol sneaked around the aisles of goods until he came to the clerk’s counter. He hunched down and waited till another customer approached. It was at that very moment that Absol jumped up on top of the counter and began to stare the two humans down. Both jumped from the fright and immediately began to rub their hands and look around nervously. Meowth who was still banging at the window caught a glimpse of Absol, stopped what he was doing and began shouting while giving obvious “what are you doing” and “just grab the pokeballs” hand motions.
Woman: “Isn’t that a…a…a…”
Clerk: “An Absol in my shop? How could this be?”
Woman: “They say Absol only appear before danger! Something bad must be about to happen.”
Clerk: “Per…Perhaps it’s just lost. Shoo now little pokemon. No need to stay here.”
Absol turned to the Clerk and began to stare him straight in the face. Then as to confirm the people’s fear, Absol lay down on the counter and curled into a ball. The message was clear. Every shopper began to walk cautiously towards the door as the beringer of devastation had chosen to stay at that location. The clerk’s knees began to shake when suddenly the sound of shattering glass filled the air. Blaziken had executed his task by kicking Meowth through the window pane. Meowth screamed as he flew through the air and landed on a nearby display sending items soaring into the air. Screams of the costumers soon followed. Bags and boxes flew into the air as everyone evacuated the shop in a panic. Meowth stood up amongst the pile of goods and looked up at the window where Blaziken’s head was poking through.
Meowth: “Just what the hell was that?”
Absol: “That would be a plan well executed unlike your pathetic attempt.”
Meowth: “Ah shut up. Hey Blaziken, grab some of those crates and come inside will ya?”
Blaziken: “Getting them now.”
Meowth made his way behind the counter and looked at the container directly behind where the clerk usually stood. Absol jumped off the counter as Meowth read down the list of items and opened up the bin labeled Pokeballs. Inside were hundreds of various types of pokeball including regular balls, great balls, ultra balls and all other custom types. A shuffling noise was heard as Blaziken slid four crates into the small building.
Meowth: “We’ve hit the mother load! Look at all these pokeballs. Let’s load em up quick!”
Pokeballs were loaded into the crates by the handful and mouthful. Slowly each box was filled to its capacity. Blaziken attempted to lift all the boxes but his strength was not adequate enough for the weight. Thinking quickly Absol searched the store for something helpful and quickly found sections of rope behind the counter. They tied the rope around two of the boxes. Absol and Meowth took one each and began dragging them out the front door. Blaziken lifted the other two boxes and followed on towards the rocket. The trio stopped at the bottom of the hill and dreaded the task ahead. Even more slowly than before, the crates were dragged and carried up the steep hill. The weight of the boxes seemed to increase as they climbed. Blaziken slipped only once but caught his balance before dropping his load. Breathing heavily, all three collapsed upon reaching the top of the hill. They laid there for only seconds to regain some strength, when the boxes around them were lifted and began to float away. Looking ahead, the trio could see Alakazam using his psychic ablility to move the boxes for them standing around him were Haunter, and close to thirty various pokemon. Each one slowly rose up and made their way to the group.
Alakazam: “Exellent work you three. Haunter has cast hypnosis on all the emplyees of this building so we are in no danger of interference. Now we need to get all of these pokemon in their pokeballs and on into that ship. You all toss the balls and I shall levitate them inside the rocket.”
For several minutes, pokemon continued to be teleported and were quickly sealed away inside their portable container. One by one they were psychicly levitated into the ship. Suddenly Alakazam appeared above the crowd of pokemon and held up his hands.
Alakazam: “Hold on one moment. I need to see a few of you privately. Machamp, Steelix, Weezing, and the group of four Electrode, please come over here. I am glad my underlings have given me such a great group at the same exact time. I have a job for you. Meowth, Blaziken, please continue.”
Highly confused by this, the pokemon walked over to the side to speak with Alakazam. Meowth scratched his head before picking up another pokeball and tossing it. Alakazam continued to address the seven pokemon until Machamp cracked his knuckles, nodded his head and headed down the hill followed closely by Steelix and Weezing. The four Electrode however stayed where they were as Alakazam floated back to his post and began levitating pokeballs once again.
Absol: “What was all that about?”
Alakazam: “Well, we will have multitudes of pokeballs. And if everyone goes as planned, we may need a way to heal some of them, and we need a device that can instantly heal pokemon from inside pokeballs. The walls are thick and it is always occupied by humans, so I sent that team to go fetch it.”
Blaziken: “Woah, so you’re really sending them to get that thing?”
Alakazam: “One of my more brilliant ideas I must confess.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ridley and Rayquaza were spiraling through the air, claws locked with the other above a stretch of land very close to the ocean. Each dragon was breathing a flame towards the other which resulted in small fragements of fire flying through the air as the two flames met. Latios and Latias were flying around the pair in an attempt to aid. Both were being very cautious to attack as the pair’s abnormal spiral behaviour was difficult to predict. Dust flew into the air as the dragons slammed into the earth. Both stopped their flame from the impact, but Ridley, who had found himself on top of Rayquaza held his grip and began clawing Rayquaza’s torso with his feet. Rayquaza roared in pain as deep gashes appeard along his underside. Reacting quickly, Latios and Latios flew towards Ridley and simultaneously headbutted him in the stomach. All three pokemon were breathing heavily as they observed Ridley regain his position in the air.
Ridley laughed menacingly as he made a nosedive for the trio. Latios shot a Luster Purge quickly before flying out of the way. Latias did the same with a Mist Ball. Both attacks met Ridley square in the face, but did not stop him. As he closed in, Rayquaza lifted his tail and whipped Ridley across the neck which sent him flying into a nearby tree. Rayquaza was now extremely weak from his long battle. His last attack had taken most of his remaining strength. Enraged by his position, Ridley roared loudly as the tree he was in burst into flame. Ridley rose into the air and opened his mouth wide. Fire began to form into a large ball from within the dragon’s oral cavity. Latios and Latias flew towards him to stop the attack, but it was too late. Ridley shot the fireball directly towards the exhausted Rayquaza. Too weak to defend against the attack, Rayquaza stared at the fireball ready to take its full force with courage, but suddenly another loud noise was heard as a blue wave of air appeared and knocked the fireball off its course. Ridley, Rayquaza, Latios, and Latias turned their head to see the source of this intrusion. A few yards away, Lugia could be seen. He had used his aeroblast attack to stop Ridley.
Rayquaza: “Lu…Lugia.”
Lugia: “We are here to help, my friend. Lie there and rest while we take care of this dragon. Latios and Latias, stay with Rayquaza and try to deflect any stray shots that appear his way.”
Latios and Latias nodded as they made their way to Rayquaza. Suddenly, remaining legends who had the ability to fly or float appeared in the sky behind Lugia. Ridley stared at each of the creatures before him, studying each one closely. Shorly after their arrival a small rumble could be heard in the distance. From the nearby trees sprung the three legendary dogs, Raikou, Entei, and Suicune. The trio was closely followed by the land-bound pokemon with Regigigas slowly walking in the back. Before Ridley had time to take these new ones in, the ground began to shake below him. Looking around, he could see both the sea bubbling violently as well as the earth crack nearby. Simultaneously, lava fire and jets of water sprung into the air as Kyogre, Manaphy, Groudon, and Heatran appeared. Ridley circled in they sky as he made eye contact with each one. Lugia floated forward slightly to address the intruder.
Lugia: “We are only going to give you one warning. Leave our planet or be forced into battle. You are obviously strong as you have held off Rayquaza for this long time, but can you stand up to the combined power of every pokemon standing before you?”
Ridley floated before Lugia with an evil stare. He had no intention of backing down. He gave a deep roar before blasting a shot of dark energy toward the psychic bird. Several feet before it could reach it’s target, Articuno shot an ice beam as moltres breathed a flame thrower at the attack stopping it dead it it’s tracks.
Lugia: “So be it. Attack!”
Instantly the swarm of flying pokemon swooped down upon the purple dragon wings and limbs were everywhere as each pecked or clawed at the dragon. Ridley shot multiple fireballs and blasts of energy at the overwhelimg swarm surrounding him, but was so overwhelmed that he did not know if any struck a target or were blocked in some manner. The barrage of small attacks continued as Ridley’s anger rose. Suddenly, Ridley used his power over fire to superheat the air arounding him causing the oxygen in it to burst into a quick flame. The pokemon scattered at this sudden display of power. For a few seconds, Ridley thought he had obtained the upper hand once more, but was met with the full force of Kyogre’s water spout attack. His fire completely gone, Ridley regained his bearings as he dripped water below him.
Cresselia sped behind Ridley and shot two psycho cut attack towards him. Both attacks struck directly in between the dragon’s shoulder blades. Screaming in pain, Ridley turned around and swiped Cresselia across the face, followed immediatetly by his tail whipping across its side. As Cresselia spiraled towards the ground below, Regigias, who had only just gotten to the battle, reached up his massive hand and grasped ahold of the falling pokemon. Darkrai swooped down close to Ridley and held his arms close to his body. Dark waves of energy issued from his body as he used his dark pulse attack. Wave after wave hit the dragon disorienting it. Shaymin took this opportunity to shoot several magical leaves, an attack that cannot be evaded, at Ridley. Ridley’s body was buffeted with the razor sharp leaves. Realizing that evasion was a better plan than confrontation, he dove towards the land at the nearby trees. As he approached the forest, all three legendary dogs jumped in front of him each sending their own blast of water, fire and electricity at the dragon. Ridley was able to avoid Entei and Suicune, but Raikou’s thunder was spot on. Ridley attempted to shake off the attack, but was met with the full force of Regigigas’ mega punch. Ridley’s body flew through the air and fell into the ocean.
Manaphy swam over to the sea-bound dragon and began to swirl around. Faster and faster it creates a waterfall which sucked Ridley into the center. Spiraling around in the water, Ridley once again attempted to attack, but to no avail. Suddenly, Kyogre began to charge through the water and slammed into Ridley sending him flying out of the ocean and onto the shore. Heatran began to spew fire as Groundon stomped on the ground causing an earthquake. Ridley’s body shook from the earthquakes as fire licked his wing. Jumping to his feet, Ridley once again rose into the air. The three Regis gathered together and simultaneously shot hyper beams toward the dragon. Closer the beams came until suddenly a large blast of energy met with the hyper beams causing a massive explosion. Every pokemon stopped. They knew the attack couldn’t have come from Ridley. They waited till the smoke had settled before laying eye on a white skinned creature they had never seen before. Giygas was floating in front of Ridley.
Giygas: “Making friends I see, Ridley.”
Lugia: “And just who are you?”
Giygas: “The name is Giygas. I and Ridley, here, have been charged to aid in the destruction of this galaxy. Your world is next.”
Rayquaza: “Over my dead body!”
Giygas: “I’m sure that can be arranged if you so desire. I assume you are the other power I sensed earlier. We each went our separate ways upon arriving at this pitiful planet in hopes of finding an aid to our cause. I found mine, but it looks like you are not so persuadable. Come forth my slave.”
Ridley and all the pokemon turned as Giratina materialized beside Giygas. Giratina did not look upon his fellow pokemon but instead stared blankly before him, almost sedate. Ridley smiled menacingly as he looked at his new partner.
Groudon: “Giratina, don’t you know what you are doing? Answer me!”
Giygas: “He will not respond. I have taken his will captive and have possessed him. He will only do as I allow.”
Lugia: “We are only going to tell you once. Free Giratina and leave or be destroyed.”
Giygas: “And I shall only tell you once. Join me or be destroyed.”
Entei: “There is no way that only three of you can match the power of all of us combined. We are legendary pokemon, not some bunch of weedle.”
Giygas: “So defiant and confident in your own pathetic abilities. So be it. I shall make an example out of you before I destroy you.”
Suddenly Gigyas disappeared from the location he was leaving the sedate Giratina and Ridley floating in the air. Every pokemon began to look around for any sign of Giygas, when suddenly he reappeared in the exact place he was floating before, only now he was holding manaphy in his tentacular arm. Struggling to free itself manaphy cried for help but the others were frozen in fear. Manaphy used a bubble beam attack at Giygas’ face but its attempt was futile. The bubbles simple bounced off Giygas’ stone cold visage. With his other hand, Giygas gathered a large ball of dark energy. Manaphy now struggling more than ever with tears in its eyes cried out once more for help. All the others were still frozen from the extreme fear and disbelief at what they were about to see. Harmless manaphy was about to be destroyed before their very eyes. Regice regained his awareness and chose to act upon it before being mesmerized by the terror once again. He shot a hyper beam towards the attacking monster, but Giygas simply floated to once side and shot the ball of energy not at manaphy, but at his attacker. At light speed the energy ball struck the Ice pokemon and his body shattered into hundreds of pieces. Giygas and Ridley both laughed as the pokemon watched their commerade’s destruction.
Giygas: “Now where were we? Oh yes. Time for you to die as well.”
Giygas threw Manaphy higher into the air, quickly gathered energy in both hands and shot both towards the crying blue pokemon. Lugia rushed forward to save him but was too late. Both discs struck Manaphy and exploded, leaving behind a single antenna which fell to the ground and beside of Rayquaza. Regirock, Registeel, and Regigigas stood around Regice remains as each of the circles on their faces turned bright red. Rayquaza reached over and picked up Manaphy’s antenna. Holding it in his hand, he felt anger as none other surge through his body. He laid the pokemon’s remains beside him before clenching both fists and roaring into the air.
Rayquaza: “You’ll pay for this. You arrive here on our planet, corrupt one of our own then kill two others for absolutely no reason. Creatures such as you sicken me. It will be a great pleasure to sink my teeth into your skull as you die.”
With a new found energy, Rayquaza burst into the air and faced Giygas, Giratina and Ridley face on. Quickly all the other pokemon gathered behind him each one ready for a battle to the death. Ridley screeched at the pokemon as Giygas gave a blank cold stare.
Giygas: “It’s time to prove your worth, Giratina. Your mission is to destroy these you see before you. Make your master proud.”
Giratina: “Yes master.”
Giratina’s eyes glowed a deep red as his sedate manner melted away. He screamed loudly as he felt energy flow through him as he had never experienced. Mindlessly staring down those before him, he spread his wings and charged toward his friends in full fury, ready to kill.
The sea air was calmly blowing in Mossdeep City. The volcano in Hoenn was issuing black smoke high in the air, but that remained the only sign of Ridley in the small town.
