First off, when you read part of this chapter i know you are going to say it sounds like something from The Trophies. I only realized this AFTER i had written it. But there are a few things different from mine than Bob's I shall explain after the chapter

Chapter 20: The Golden Turnips
Geno was flying towards the Mushroom Kingdom at top speed. It was not his first trip back to the planet. Shortly after the destruction of Pop Star, he had made a brief appearance to a single individual. He had negotiated his now minion into securing several golden turnips. The vegetables that not only gave him strength, but also gained him favor with his master. He wished to have more of them. Surely Boshi could have rid Yoshi Island of their turnips.
His flight came to a halt as his ears began to ring. The sound was mind-shattering and painful. As quickly as the sound had begun, it ceased, and a voice could be heard from inside Geno’s head.
Voice: “Geno….Geno take heed to this.”
Geno: “What the…who are you? Show yourself!”
Voice: “I am not near you, my friend. Have you forgotten who you are? Your actions were noble, but the darkness has corrupted your mind.”
Geno: “Apparently, because I’m hearing voices now….and I’m talking to them. Go away or be destroyed.”
Voice: “And now you’re acting paranoid. Please…I beg of you, open your heart once more. Don’t let the darkness corrupt your mind any further. Remember who you are. Remember Star Road!”
Suddenly, a surge of light shot through Geno. His mind racing as visions of his past were presented once more. A smile stretched across the face of the wooden puppet. He could once again remember his home, his friends, his purpose. As quickly as his mood became jovial, a dark surge of aura overtook him once more. It was stronger and more painful than any other he had seen. The evil powers of Zankor took his body over once again, and erased his mind of those pleasant things. The voice left Geno, as he flew on into the atmosphere of the Mushroom Kingdom.
Once he had entered the sunny skies over Yoshi’s Island, he noticed the smoke from a campfire on the far northern end. He approached the fire at top speed to find that it was in fact the campgrounds of Boshi.
Geno: “So, you have secured what I desire?”
Boshi: “Sure thing boss….it wasn’t hard either. A little help from some stupid heroes who were too desperate to think twice about me wanting all the turnips.
Geno: “Excellent”
Boshi: “So, do I get some sort of reward?”
Geno smiled as he rushed at Boshi and grabbed him by the neck.
Geno: “Your reward is your life. Were you so stupid as to think I, who can destroy an entire planet, would willingly give out rewards for mediocrity. Yes you did as I told you and for that you are allowed to live.”
Boshi: “Yes sir, I shall go get the bag now.”
As Geno released him, Boshi rushed off to a hollow tree. He had never seen such vile in his whole life. Why had he allowed himself to be talked into this situation? If there was any way out, he vowed he would take it, and perhaps take these Golden Turnips with him.

After the long journey across Koopa Territory, Wario’s Bike, which was pulling the cart of Metal Boxes and all his fellow travelers, came to a halt at the front gate to Bowser’s Castle. Mario, Luigi, Peach, Waluigi, Kirby, Metaknight, Slippy, Yoshi, and King Dedede jumped out of the back of the cart and made their way over to the gate. Wario followed after lowering the kickstand on his bike. Bowser took the cart off the bike and pulled it over to the front of the gate where he proceeded to pound upon it. A small hammer bro and a paratroppa ran to the gate.
Hammer Bro: “Halt, who goes there!”
Bowser: “Open this d**ned gate you fool! I’ve had it up to my horns with stupidity today”
Bowser glared over in Wario and Waluigi’s direction then turned to face his minions, who bowed in apology after realizing who was knocking at the gate. The hammer bro and the paratroops grasped hold of the crank and began to raise the iron gate. This gate was, however not attached to Bowser’s Castle, but to a great wall surrounding it. The atmosphere inside the gate was much warmer than the air outside. This was partially due to the lava moat surrounding the castle. All around them, Goombas, Koopa Troopas, Koopa Paratroopas, and Hammer Bros were patrolling and training. Several Magikoopa were flying overhead circling around the parameter.
Bowser continued along the pathway to the bridge. The entire company followed him across the lava moat and on into the foyer of the castle. Kamek nodded his head at a group of koopas who were at the door to the castle. They began to push the doors closed until the last bit of sunshine was driven away. The foyer was not dark despite the lack of windows. It was illuminated by many lanterns and torches lining the wall. Random fireplaces littered the walls. Observing their surroundings, they all continued to follow Bowser on into his throne room. The room was massive. Large torches and lanterns lined the wall as they did in the foyer. Large chandeliers with candles for lights hung overhead. Centered on the back wall was a large painting of Bowser and Bowser Jr. Directly below it was Bowser’s Throne. Dedede lowered his head for a minute at the thought of his destroyed palace. Bowser made his way to the throne with his company still following. Kamek cast a spell on the metal boxes making them shrink. He picked them all up and placed them within his cloak. Bowser dropped the cart and turned around to face his companions.
Bowser: “What I’m going to show you is the result of a few months of research and trial. I planned on using this stuff against you Mario.”
Kamek “Um…sir? Are you sure you should be telling him all this stuff?”
Bowser: “Since we have a hooded maniac running around, I don’t think the plan can be carried out anyway, so I might as well show him everything…maybe what all we’ve done will come in handy.”
Bowser Jr.: “Oh great, Dad! That’s just exactly what I wanted to do today…since the Clown Car isn’t here anymore we’ll have to go the long way.”
Kamek: “and don’t forget, your orders for my Magikoopas….Your minions will now attack anyone in their path.”
Bowser: “Ah CRAP!”
Kirby: “So…umm…what? Care to explain all that?”
Bowser: “Well given the nature of these things, we couldn’t have exactly been experimenting with them out in the open. We needed a secret secure place.”
Bowser Jr. “Luckily, we had a cool place that would take someone really skilled to get through. So we had the whole place moved here from its old location, and added some additional security.”
Bowser: “That would have really been practical to go through that whole thing just to get to the lab, so we added a green pipe out in the middle of the lava lake, positioned three bullet bill canons, and several of my minions to patrol around that area. There’s no way anyone could infiltrate that pipe without us knowing about it. Unfortunately as I said, we used the Clown car because the pipe was placed in the middle of the lava lake, and since the Clown Car isn’t here anymore after our little assault on your castle, well…I guess we’ll have to go the long way.”
Waluigi: “And you called us imbeciles? What kind of idiot would only have one mode of transportation to get to that pipe?”
Bowser: “You sorry little…”
MK: “ENOUGH! What’s done is done, and instead of standing here griping about it why don’t we go ahead and start heading to where those are, you tools.”
Luigi: “Well put”
Bowser sighed and began to push aside his throne. The group walked closer to him as he did, and on the wall immediately behind them was a sealed door. Bowser then slid aside a brick in the wall to reveal a hiding area. He pulled out a key and unlocked the door and opened it. There was a small glow from the darkened portal as they all began to peer into it.
Bowser: “Why don’t you two go first, Mario and Peach. I’m sure you’ll remember it as soon as you walk in. Don’t worry, it’s actually not a trick.”
Mario looked around at his company. The denizens of Popstar, Luigi, Slippy, Waluigi, and Peach seemed nervous, whereas Bowser, Bowser Jr., and Kamek all had grins on their faces. Wario however was making motions for Mario to hurry up down the stairs. Reluctant to follow Bowser’s notion Mario stepped into the doorway and down the steps. Upon reaching the bottom, his mouth flew open. Peach who had followed him gasped. They stood frozen till the rest of the group had filed in behind them. Bowser was right. The grey stone floor and ceiling, the very dim lighting, the lava and grey pipes; this was the remnant of Bowser’s first castle. It was the castle where Mario had defeated Bowser all those years ago. Bowser let out a small chuckle at Mario’s face.
Bowser: “I thought you would like it…ah old memories.”
Mario: “Lets just get through this thing. Everyone be on your guard. It was hard enough the first time, but now that he’s added additional security and everything, it’s bound to be even more difficult”
The troop began to move towards the other side. One by one they jumped over the lava pit immediately before them. Wario almost fell short, but grasped Bowser’s Tail to pull himself back up. This did not go over to well as Bowser punched him in his stomach and moved on. They moved on till they approached a gray pipe. Luigi began to take the lead and jump over, but as he did a large piranha plant shot out of it, with teeth gnashing. Kamek blasted a shot of fire at it as Kirby jumped into the air to pull Luigi out of the way. Each made their way over this Pipe and noticed a small area with no enemies. They walked forwards slightly then heard a rumbling sound. Only inches in front of Mario, a twomp crashed down in front of him. Mario jumped backwards and smacked into several behind him, as Bowser twirled around and bashed the twomp with his tail. One more piranha plant lay before them which was sliced by Metaknight. Peach held up her hand as she stood over the pipe. A ledge lie ahead of them, but it was too far for one who could not fly. Below them lie a spike-shelled koopa, several goombas, and a dry bones. Kirby, Metaknight, and Dedede flew over the gap effortlessly and Peach jumped into the air and floated to the other side using her parasol. The others however looked down upon the enemies below. But before they could comprise a plan, Waluigi lit a bobomb and tossed it below. In an explosion, the goomas, the koopa, and the dry bone’s body parts were sent flying. The remaining group made their way up the ledge and across two small lava pools. Luigi shot a fireball at the next gray pipe as a plant shot out of it.
Kirby: “You call that difficult? This has been pretty easy!”
Mario: “This is only one section. There are three more left to go before we reach the final area.”
Mario jumped into the pipe before him and dropped into the next section. One by one everyone followed. The scene before him was more densely populated than he had seen in the years before. Enemies of all type were swarming across the tiny area. Kirby’s jaw dropped at the sheer number of them. The enemies turned their attention towards the newcomers and began to run in their direction jumping over the gray pipes and lava pools
Mario: “Well, here we go!”
The whole group ran head-on into the crowd. Luigi and Mario were jumping around and shooting fireballs. Dedede was swinging his hammer madly bashing the enemies left and right. Kirby flew over top of the crowd and occasionally transforming himself into a rock and slamming down. Slippy was shooting any target he could find. Kamek sent spells speeding past the heroes’ heads striking the enemies ahead. Metaknight began spinning rapidly creating a small tornado. This was particularly effective against the dry bones. Bowser Jr., however, transformed into Shadow Mario once again, and began weaving between the enemies smacking several with his paint brush. Waluigi and Wario were at the rear of the party taking out straglers. They made their way across the area till they came to a pipe floating in the air. Mario jumped into the hole, with everyone following. When they landed, the area seemed fairly quiet. A piranha plant poked its head out of a nearby pipe which was immediately struck by Shadow Mario’s paint brush. It was quiet; entirely too quiet. Luigi’s knees began to shake from fear of the unknown that awaited them. They made their way over two pipes before the lava pool in front of them began to shake. Suddenly, large flying fish issued from the lava. They were everywhere, tackling the heroes to the ground. Peach opened her parasol to block them as Mario and Luigi shot fireballs from behind it. Bowser was breathing fire into the air at passers by while Metaknight was filleting any that came near. They were coming in waves of about 30.
Slippy: “You all see what I’m seeing?”
Kamek “They seem to be coming in waves….be on the defensive until one stops…perhaps we can make it to the next pipe”
Slowly they inched their way along the stone, stopping waves of flying fish as they came. When they finally reached the pipe at the end of this area, Mario jumped down the pipe. He had forgotten the fourth area was completely underwater. They emerged up through a pipe into an underwater dungeon. Thinking quickly, Peach began to swim straight upwards. It was the only area where air could be attained. The others followed and took deep breaths when they reached the surface. They were all fed up with the entire situation and did not speak to each other. Instead they took a large gulp of air and dove back down into the watery abyss. They each swam at a brisk pace avoiding underwater fire, and attacking bloopers as they appeared. They had to wait what seemed an eternity near the ending pipe for the fire to allow them to pass. Once they were through the pipe, they landed on the cold stone floor of the last area. Each gasping for air as they shook the water off them, they began to look around again. No enemies were to be seen except for a lone hammer bro near a bridge. He was lazily walking back and forth at his boring post. As Mario made his way towards the bridge, the hammer bro spotted him and tossed a hammer in his direction. Bowser stepped in front of Mario and grabbed the hammer mid air.
Bowser: “That won’t be necessary.”
Realizing his master was standing before him, the Hammer bro stepped aside and let the company pass across the bridge and over into the next area. It was only now that Bowser Jr. transformed back into himself. This are was once the holding cell of Princess Peach. It had now been turned into a full laboratory. Dry Bones, Koopa Troopas, and Magikoopas roamed everywhere. Vials were being poured, beakers being tested, and a very large container of golden liquid lie in the background. To the left, there was a storage box with multitudes of golden turnips.
Bowser: “Well, here we are, the Golden Turnip laboratory.”
DDD: “Well it’s about time, I’m tired of all this fighting. Was this entirely necessary?”
Mario: “This has better be good after all the crap we just went though. If not I’m gonna shove these golden turnips right up your…”
Bowser: “There’ll be no need for that. Well, this whole thing started when I send my troops out to patrol the outskirts of our territory. After wandering around, they must have gotten hungry and decided to steal some turnips and eat them. Well as they were filling their stomachs, one of the koopas pulled out a strange golden colored one. Having felt lucky for his find, he sunk his teeth into it. According to the story, the other koopas became greedy of the golden turnip and attempted to take it from him as he was not a particularly strong one. Try as they might, this koopa could not be taken down. His strength was increased 10 fold, his shell as impenetrable as these stone walls. The sight of him was amazing. The effect lasted for several hours before it finally began to fade.
They decided to search around the area for more golden turnips and brought them to me. I tried one myself and the power it gave me was incredible. I had my more brilliant minions begin to examine them while I sent the more brute forces out in search of more. We located them all across the Mushroom Kingdom. We found them in the cave near the lake, out in the Chain Chomp field, in our own backyard, and other placed. The only location we had not searched was Yoshi’s Island, which according to you, Yoshi, have been located and taken by Boshi. My scientists began to extract the properties of the golden turnips and extracted the raw essence of the power into this golden liquid you see behind me. Due to the concentration of power, the effect of this lasts much longer than the effect of the raw turnip. They began to test on items, and living creatures. We were all highly impressed by the results. Here, let me show you.”
Kamek unloaded the metal boxes from his cloak and restored them to their original size. He handed one to a nearby koopa who placed it in a boiler. Quickly the metal box melted into a very large quantity of liquid. A magikoopa flew by and dropped a small amount of the turnip potion into the molten metal. Quickly another group of koopas brought a set of molds over to the boiler. As the metal was poured into the molds, it was clear that they were making koopa armor. Bowser motioned the others near the golden liquid.
Bowser: “While we wait for that to cool off, let me show you some other things.”
He made his way over to a nearby dry bones, picked him up, and tossed him into the vat of turnip potion. A few moments passed before an abnormally large skeletal hand emerged from the liquid. As he pulled himself out of the container and back onto the floor, Peach let out a gasp at the drastic change that had become of this dry bones. The creature before them took the shape of a dry bones no more, for he had transformed into the terrifying form of Dry Bowser. Dry Bowser roared into the air and breathing fire to exhibit his change of powers. After standing in awe of himself, he bowed to Bowser in thanks for the gift he had received. The crowd was speechless to the extreme power that this liquid had.
Bowser: “It doesn’t stop there. Items can be enhances as well. Metaknight, come here and dip your sword into the liquid?”
Metaknight pulled out his blade and stepped over to the liquid. He paused for a moment, looking at his trusty weapon, before plunging it into the golden liquid. He waited for a few seconds before lifting his arm, but when the sword was removed, it emerged unchanged in appearance.
Wario: “Nothing happened.”
Bowser: “Oh really? Hey, Metaknight, why not try your sword on that thick stone pillar over there.”
Metaknight made his way over to the stone pillar and with only the slightest effort sliced completely through it. The cut was so clean and fast that the pillar did not collapse, it lay exactly where it was with a noticeable seam. After expressing a whistle of amazement, he placed the sword back in his sheath and turned around to face Bowser again.
Bowser: “Well, there’s one last demonstration for you. The koopa armor cooled quickly and I have a few subjects willing to test it out. Bring in the bullet bill!”
Over against a distant wall lined up five koopas. They were wearing large helmets, shell protection, as well as leg, foot, and arm protection. The most noticeable change was that of their hands. They not only held protection, but each of the koopas now has large metallic claws at the end of their hands. A large canon was wheeled in and pointed at the group of armor clad warriors. On the count of three, the bullet bill was fired. It streamed its way across the room and hit the koopas with full force. After the dust cleared, all three koopas stood perfectly unharmed, their armor not even scratched. Another bullet bill was fired, but the koopas took the offensive. Iron claws held high, they ran at the bullet streaming their way. They jumped into the air slightly and began to slash at the bullet bill reducing it small chunks of black metal.
Bowser: “As you can see, these things are powerful. I just wish we knew where thy came from, and why they suddenly appeared only a few weeks before this stranger appeared.”
Koopa: “Sir, I’m sorry to interrupt, but I have excellent news to report! We tested the liquid as a fuel for this hover pad. It worked exceptionally well. We made three trips around the planet and barely used any of the fuel.”
Slippy: “OH YEAH that reminds me, the Great Fox needs fuel. And there’s definitely enough liquid to spare here, if you wouldn’t mind, Bowser. This way we can go hunt down this Destroyer and stop him from destroying anymore worlds.”
Bowser Jr. “HEY, no one said anything about leaving the Mushroom Kingdom!”
Bowser: “Son, I don’t think we really have many other options. It’s either help them, or sit here and eventually be destroyed like Pop Star.”
Mario: “You’re being abnormally intelligent today, what gives?”
Bowser: “I guess hard times pull out the best in me? I don’t know, so can we drop the subject or do you want to sit here like a bunch of pansies discussing my thoughts and feelings? OK, frog, you can have my turnip potion. Where is your ship?”
MK: “It’s on the outskirts of Yoshi’s Island”
Luigi: “We could load the liquid on that big hover pad that koopa was talking about and get there in no time!”
Bowser agreed and had his minions move the large vat of liquid onto the hover pad. Everyone took their place on it as it rose up through the large green pipe and emerged in the middle of the lava lake. As they made their course towards Yoshi’s Island, Mario couldn’t shake the feeling that something was still dangerously wrong, and whatever it was would happen soon.

Boshi dragged the sack of golden turnips over to Geno and laid it at his feet. Geno opened the bag and began to examine its contents. He pulled out one of the turnips and began to eat. After he had eaten an entire turnip he could feel it’s power surging through him. He reached in the bag for another when the same deafening screech was heard. Geno fell to the ground in agony. Again, a voice reached out to him.
Voice: “Geno, Geno my friend. Please listen to my voice and return to us.”
Geno: “Why do you torment me so?”
Voice: “I bring a warning to the darkness within you. Be gone from Geno’s body or we, the powers of Star Road, shall force you out.”
Geno: “NEVER!!!”
With his last scream, pain worse than he had ever felt consumed his body glowed with black aura. His eyes were as red as blood as the evil within him struggled rid him of the voice of light. The voice left him once more as he shot a blast of aura around him. He opened his eyes to see his turnip bag was missing, as well as his minion, Boshi. Geno gritted his teeth in anger and rose up into the air to see if he could locate them. Several yards away, he could see Boshi desperately running away with the bag of Golden turnips. Geno was now filled with fury at his betrayal. He rose into the air and conjured large amounts of dark energy. Slowly the ball of energy grew larger and larger till he released it upon the entire northern region of Yoshi’s Island, completely obliterating the area and the traitorous Boshi. This did not pacify his rage. He descended upon Yoshi’s island in search of a fight.

Bowser’s hover pad was flying at top speed due to the golden turnip fuel. They could slowly see Yoshi’s Island on the horizon, but to their horror, large quantities of smoke could be seen rising into the air. Bowser increased their speed towards the Island. Mario’s knew in his gut that this had something to do with the ominous feeling he had. When they had arrived at the ruin, Bowser lowered the hovercraft to look.
Yoshi: “Wha…What happened here?”
Waluigi: “Looks like a giant explosion or something.”
Bowser Jr.: “Brilliant deduction there.”
Yoshi: “This part of the island was home to many Pak E Derms. Yoshi’s didn’t live here, so that’s something good.”
Bowser: “There doesn’t appear to be any danger around right now, so let’s just head on to that ship. We’ll deal with this later.”
The hover pad rose back into the air and made its way to the Great Fox. Slippy shouted into the air at the sight of it, but began laughing as he saw Peppy standing outside poking a Shy Guy with a stick.
Peppy: “What in tarnation are you?”
Shy Guy: “Hey, stop it, that hurts!”
Peppy: “Oh, sorry I didn’t mean to…….Slippy?”
Peppy looked up to see Bowser’s hover pad landing in front of him, Slippy was waving his hands. Slippy jumped to the ground and began introducing everyone to Peppy. They discussed the golden turnip potion and how it would be a more than adequate power supply. Bowser ordered his koopas who had boarded with the container to follow Slippy and Peppy and pour most of the liquid into the fuel tanks. King Dedede was welcomed warmly by his own minions. The koopas returned with a large quantity of the potion left and placed it into the Great Fox’s hanger. All seemed well, until a strange noise from the nearby trees distracted them. They all turned to see what could have been the cause of the noise. Suddenly, a path was being created through the trees as they were toppled over or uprooted and tossed into the air. Bowser and Dedede ordered their minions to follow Peppy back into the Great Fox for protection. Just as the last waddle dee entered the grey fox, a blast of dark energy barely missed the ship, followed by a shout from an enraged, familiar voice. Geno burst from the woods in full fury. He shot energy into the sky and performed another pulse of his black aura. He looked over at Mario and his company and began to laugh.
Geno: “Well well, I search this island for a fight, and look at the bounty that has presented itself.”
Mario: “Geno….what has happened to you?”
Geno: “Nothing but glory, plumber.”
Luigi: “We heard of your visit with The Destoryer.”
Geno: “Yes, my master is very powerful, I am proud to serve him. I was going to have pity on you Mario brothers for your kindness to me in the past, but since you have teamed up with those who have attempted to attack not only me, but my master as well, I have no choice but to destroy you!”
Mario: “Geno, you don’t want to do this. We are your friends!”
Geno: “Wrong again, Mario. You are no longer my friends, and your deaths will bring me great joy!”
Geno closed his eyes and hovered in the air for a moment. Energy began to surge through his body as he floated. Mario and the rest were preparing for the battle ahead of them. Geno opened his eyes once more with a psychotic murderous intent.

Geno: “What the…who are you? Show yourself!”
Voice: “I am not near you, my friend. Have you forgotten who you are? Your actions were noble, but the darkness has corrupted your mind.”
Geno: “Apparently, because I’m hearing voices now….and I’m talking to them. Go away or be destroyed.”
Voice: “And now you’re acting paranoid. Please…I beg of you, open your heart once more. Don’t let the darkness corrupt your mind any further. Remember who you are. Remember Star Road!”
Suddenly, a surge of light shot through Geno. His mind racing as visions of his past were presented once more. A smile stretched across the face of the wooden puppet. He could once again remember his home, his friends, his purpose. As quickly as his mood became jovial, a dark surge of aura overtook him once more. It was stronger and more painful than any other he had seen. The evil powers of Zankor took his body over once again, and erased his mind of those pleasant things. The voice left Geno, as he flew on into the atmosphere of the Mushroom Kingdom.
Once he had entered the sunny skies over Yoshi’s Island, he noticed the smoke from a campfire on the far northern end. He approached the fire at top speed to find that it was in fact the campgrounds of Boshi.
Geno: “So, you have secured what I desire?”
Boshi: “Sure thing boss….it wasn’t hard either. A little help from some stupid heroes who were too desperate to think twice about me wanting all the turnips.
Geno: “Excellent”
Boshi: “So, do I get some sort of reward?”
Geno smiled as he rushed at Boshi and grabbed him by the neck.
Geno: “Your reward is your life. Were you so stupid as to think I, who can destroy an entire planet, would willingly give out rewards for mediocrity. Yes you did as I told you and for that you are allowed to live.”
Boshi: “Yes sir, I shall go get the bag now.”
As Geno released him, Boshi rushed off to a hollow tree. He had never seen such vile in his whole life. Why had he allowed himself to be talked into this situation? If there was any way out, he vowed he would take it, and perhaps take these Golden Turnips with him.

After the long journey across Koopa Territory, Wario’s Bike, which was pulling the cart of Metal Boxes and all his fellow travelers, came to a halt at the front gate to Bowser’s Castle. Mario, Luigi, Peach, Waluigi, Kirby, Metaknight, Slippy, Yoshi, and King Dedede jumped out of the back of the cart and made their way over to the gate. Wario followed after lowering the kickstand on his bike. Bowser took the cart off the bike and pulled it over to the front of the gate where he proceeded to pound upon it. A small hammer bro and a paratroppa ran to the gate.
Hammer Bro: “Halt, who goes there!”
Bowser: “Open this d**ned gate you fool! I’ve had it up to my horns with stupidity today”
Bowser glared over in Wario and Waluigi’s direction then turned to face his minions, who bowed in apology after realizing who was knocking at the gate. The hammer bro and the paratroops grasped hold of the crank and began to raise the iron gate. This gate was, however not attached to Bowser’s Castle, but to a great wall surrounding it. The atmosphere inside the gate was much warmer than the air outside. This was partially due to the lava moat surrounding the castle. All around them, Goombas, Koopa Troopas, Koopa Paratroopas, and Hammer Bros were patrolling and training. Several Magikoopa were flying overhead circling around the parameter.
Bowser continued along the pathway to the bridge. The entire company followed him across the lava moat and on into the foyer of the castle. Kamek nodded his head at a group of koopas who were at the door to the castle. They began to push the doors closed until the last bit of sunshine was driven away. The foyer was not dark despite the lack of windows. It was illuminated by many lanterns and torches lining the wall. Random fireplaces littered the walls. Observing their surroundings, they all continued to follow Bowser on into his throne room. The room was massive. Large torches and lanterns lined the wall as they did in the foyer. Large chandeliers with candles for lights hung overhead. Centered on the back wall was a large painting of Bowser and Bowser Jr. Directly below it was Bowser’s Throne. Dedede lowered his head for a minute at the thought of his destroyed palace. Bowser made his way to the throne with his company still following. Kamek cast a spell on the metal boxes making them shrink. He picked them all up and placed them within his cloak. Bowser dropped the cart and turned around to face his companions.
Bowser: “What I’m going to show you is the result of a few months of research and trial. I planned on using this stuff against you Mario.”
Kamek “Um…sir? Are you sure you should be telling him all this stuff?”
Bowser: “Since we have a hooded maniac running around, I don’t think the plan can be carried out anyway, so I might as well show him everything…maybe what all we’ve done will come in handy.”
Bowser Jr.: “Oh great, Dad! That’s just exactly what I wanted to do today…since the Clown Car isn’t here anymore we’ll have to go the long way.”
Kamek: “and don’t forget, your orders for my Magikoopas….Your minions will now attack anyone in their path.”
Bowser: “Ah CRAP!”
Kirby: “So…umm…what? Care to explain all that?”
Bowser: “Well given the nature of these things, we couldn’t have exactly been experimenting with them out in the open. We needed a secret secure place.”
Bowser Jr. “Luckily, we had a cool place that would take someone really skilled to get through. So we had the whole place moved here from its old location, and added some additional security.”
Bowser: “That would have really been practical to go through that whole thing just to get to the lab, so we added a green pipe out in the middle of the lava lake, positioned three bullet bill canons, and several of my minions to patrol around that area. There’s no way anyone could infiltrate that pipe without us knowing about it. Unfortunately as I said, we used the Clown car because the pipe was placed in the middle of the lava lake, and since the Clown Car isn’t here anymore after our little assault on your castle, well…I guess we’ll have to go the long way.”
Waluigi: “And you called us imbeciles? What kind of idiot would only have one mode of transportation to get to that pipe?”
Bowser: “You sorry little…”
MK: “ENOUGH! What’s done is done, and instead of standing here griping about it why don’t we go ahead and start heading to where those are, you tools.”
Luigi: “Well put”
Bowser sighed and began to push aside his throne. The group walked closer to him as he did, and on the wall immediately behind them was a sealed door. Bowser then slid aside a brick in the wall to reveal a hiding area. He pulled out a key and unlocked the door and opened it. There was a small glow from the darkened portal as they all began to peer into it.
Bowser: “Why don’t you two go first, Mario and Peach. I’m sure you’ll remember it as soon as you walk in. Don’t worry, it’s actually not a trick.”
Mario looked around at his company. The denizens of Popstar, Luigi, Slippy, Waluigi, and Peach seemed nervous, whereas Bowser, Bowser Jr., and Kamek all had grins on their faces. Wario however was making motions for Mario to hurry up down the stairs. Reluctant to follow Bowser’s notion Mario stepped into the doorway and down the steps. Upon reaching the bottom, his mouth flew open. Peach who had followed him gasped. They stood frozen till the rest of the group had filed in behind them. Bowser was right. The grey stone floor and ceiling, the very dim lighting, the lava and grey pipes; this was the remnant of Bowser’s first castle. It was the castle where Mario had defeated Bowser all those years ago. Bowser let out a small chuckle at Mario’s face.
Bowser: “I thought you would like it…ah old memories.”
Mario: “Lets just get through this thing. Everyone be on your guard. It was hard enough the first time, but now that he’s added additional security and everything, it’s bound to be even more difficult”
The troop began to move towards the other side. One by one they jumped over the lava pit immediately before them. Wario almost fell short, but grasped Bowser’s Tail to pull himself back up. This did not go over to well as Bowser punched him in his stomach and moved on. They moved on till they approached a gray pipe. Luigi began to take the lead and jump over, but as he did a large piranha plant shot out of it, with teeth gnashing. Kamek blasted a shot of fire at it as Kirby jumped into the air to pull Luigi out of the way. Each made their way over this Pipe and noticed a small area with no enemies. They walked forwards slightly then heard a rumbling sound. Only inches in front of Mario, a twomp crashed down in front of him. Mario jumped backwards and smacked into several behind him, as Bowser twirled around and bashed the twomp with his tail. One more piranha plant lay before them which was sliced by Metaknight. Peach held up her hand as she stood over the pipe. A ledge lie ahead of them, but it was too far for one who could not fly. Below them lie a spike-shelled koopa, several goombas, and a dry bones. Kirby, Metaknight, and Dedede flew over the gap effortlessly and Peach jumped into the air and floated to the other side using her parasol. The others however looked down upon the enemies below. But before they could comprise a plan, Waluigi lit a bobomb and tossed it below. In an explosion, the goomas, the koopa, and the dry bone’s body parts were sent flying. The remaining group made their way up the ledge and across two small lava pools. Luigi shot a fireball at the next gray pipe as a plant shot out of it.
Kirby: “You call that difficult? This has been pretty easy!”
Mario: “This is only one section. There are three more left to go before we reach the final area.”
Mario jumped into the pipe before him and dropped into the next section. One by one everyone followed. The scene before him was more densely populated than he had seen in the years before. Enemies of all type were swarming across the tiny area. Kirby’s jaw dropped at the sheer number of them. The enemies turned their attention towards the newcomers and began to run in their direction jumping over the gray pipes and lava pools
Mario: “Well, here we go!”
The whole group ran head-on into the crowd. Luigi and Mario were jumping around and shooting fireballs. Dedede was swinging his hammer madly bashing the enemies left and right. Kirby flew over top of the crowd and occasionally transforming himself into a rock and slamming down. Slippy was shooting any target he could find. Kamek sent spells speeding past the heroes’ heads striking the enemies ahead. Metaknight began spinning rapidly creating a small tornado. This was particularly effective against the dry bones. Bowser Jr., however, transformed into Shadow Mario once again, and began weaving between the enemies smacking several with his paint brush. Waluigi and Wario were at the rear of the party taking out straglers. They made their way across the area till they came to a pipe floating in the air. Mario jumped into the hole, with everyone following. When they landed, the area seemed fairly quiet. A piranha plant poked its head out of a nearby pipe which was immediately struck by Shadow Mario’s paint brush. It was quiet; entirely too quiet. Luigi’s knees began to shake from fear of the unknown that awaited them. They made their way over two pipes before the lava pool in front of them began to shake. Suddenly, large flying fish issued from the lava. They were everywhere, tackling the heroes to the ground. Peach opened her parasol to block them as Mario and Luigi shot fireballs from behind it. Bowser was breathing fire into the air at passers by while Metaknight was filleting any that came near. They were coming in waves of about 30.
Slippy: “You all see what I’m seeing?”
Kamek “They seem to be coming in waves….be on the defensive until one stops…perhaps we can make it to the next pipe”
Slowly they inched their way along the stone, stopping waves of flying fish as they came. When they finally reached the pipe at the end of this area, Mario jumped down the pipe. He had forgotten the fourth area was completely underwater. They emerged up through a pipe into an underwater dungeon. Thinking quickly, Peach began to swim straight upwards. It was the only area where air could be attained. The others followed and took deep breaths when they reached the surface. They were all fed up with the entire situation and did not speak to each other. Instead they took a large gulp of air and dove back down into the watery abyss. They each swam at a brisk pace avoiding underwater fire, and attacking bloopers as they appeared. They had to wait what seemed an eternity near the ending pipe for the fire to allow them to pass. Once they were through the pipe, they landed on the cold stone floor of the last area. Each gasping for air as they shook the water off them, they began to look around again. No enemies were to be seen except for a lone hammer bro near a bridge. He was lazily walking back and forth at his boring post. As Mario made his way towards the bridge, the hammer bro spotted him and tossed a hammer in his direction. Bowser stepped in front of Mario and grabbed the hammer mid air.
Bowser: “That won’t be necessary.”
Realizing his master was standing before him, the Hammer bro stepped aside and let the company pass across the bridge and over into the next area. It was only now that Bowser Jr. transformed back into himself. This are was once the holding cell of Princess Peach. It had now been turned into a full laboratory. Dry Bones, Koopa Troopas, and Magikoopas roamed everywhere. Vials were being poured, beakers being tested, and a very large container of golden liquid lie in the background. To the left, there was a storage box with multitudes of golden turnips.
Bowser: “Well, here we are, the Golden Turnip laboratory.”
DDD: “Well it’s about time, I’m tired of all this fighting. Was this entirely necessary?”
Mario: “This has better be good after all the crap we just went though. If not I’m gonna shove these golden turnips right up your…”
Bowser: “There’ll be no need for that. Well, this whole thing started when I send my troops out to patrol the outskirts of our territory. After wandering around, they must have gotten hungry and decided to steal some turnips and eat them. Well as they were filling their stomachs, one of the koopas pulled out a strange golden colored one. Having felt lucky for his find, he sunk his teeth into it. According to the story, the other koopas became greedy of the golden turnip and attempted to take it from him as he was not a particularly strong one. Try as they might, this koopa could not be taken down. His strength was increased 10 fold, his shell as impenetrable as these stone walls. The sight of him was amazing. The effect lasted for several hours before it finally began to fade.
They decided to search around the area for more golden turnips and brought them to me. I tried one myself and the power it gave me was incredible. I had my more brilliant minions begin to examine them while I sent the more brute forces out in search of more. We located them all across the Mushroom Kingdom. We found them in the cave near the lake, out in the Chain Chomp field, in our own backyard, and other placed. The only location we had not searched was Yoshi’s Island, which according to you, Yoshi, have been located and taken by Boshi. My scientists began to extract the properties of the golden turnips and extracted the raw essence of the power into this golden liquid you see behind me. Due to the concentration of power, the effect of this lasts much longer than the effect of the raw turnip. They began to test on items, and living creatures. We were all highly impressed by the results. Here, let me show you.”
Kamek unloaded the metal boxes from his cloak and restored them to their original size. He handed one to a nearby koopa who placed it in a boiler. Quickly the metal box melted into a very large quantity of liquid. A magikoopa flew by and dropped a small amount of the turnip potion into the molten metal. Quickly another group of koopas brought a set of molds over to the boiler. As the metal was poured into the molds, it was clear that they were making koopa armor. Bowser motioned the others near the golden liquid.
Bowser: “While we wait for that to cool off, let me show you some other things.”
He made his way over to a nearby dry bones, picked him up, and tossed him into the vat of turnip potion. A few moments passed before an abnormally large skeletal hand emerged from the liquid. As he pulled himself out of the container and back onto the floor, Peach let out a gasp at the drastic change that had become of this dry bones. The creature before them took the shape of a dry bones no more, for he had transformed into the terrifying form of Dry Bowser. Dry Bowser roared into the air and breathing fire to exhibit his change of powers. After standing in awe of himself, he bowed to Bowser in thanks for the gift he had received. The crowd was speechless to the extreme power that this liquid had.
Bowser: “It doesn’t stop there. Items can be enhances as well. Metaknight, come here and dip your sword into the liquid?”
Metaknight pulled out his blade and stepped over to the liquid. He paused for a moment, looking at his trusty weapon, before plunging it into the golden liquid. He waited for a few seconds before lifting his arm, but when the sword was removed, it emerged unchanged in appearance.
Wario: “Nothing happened.”
Bowser: “Oh really? Hey, Metaknight, why not try your sword on that thick stone pillar over there.”
Metaknight made his way over to the stone pillar and with only the slightest effort sliced completely through it. The cut was so clean and fast that the pillar did not collapse, it lay exactly where it was with a noticeable seam. After expressing a whistle of amazement, he placed the sword back in his sheath and turned around to face Bowser again.
Bowser: “Well, there’s one last demonstration for you. The koopa armor cooled quickly and I have a few subjects willing to test it out. Bring in the bullet bill!”
Over against a distant wall lined up five koopas. They were wearing large helmets, shell protection, as well as leg, foot, and arm protection. The most noticeable change was that of their hands. They not only held protection, but each of the koopas now has large metallic claws at the end of their hands. A large canon was wheeled in and pointed at the group of armor clad warriors. On the count of three, the bullet bill was fired. It streamed its way across the room and hit the koopas with full force. After the dust cleared, all three koopas stood perfectly unharmed, their armor not even scratched. Another bullet bill was fired, but the koopas took the offensive. Iron claws held high, they ran at the bullet streaming their way. They jumped into the air slightly and began to slash at the bullet bill reducing it small chunks of black metal.
Bowser: “As you can see, these things are powerful. I just wish we knew where thy came from, and why they suddenly appeared only a few weeks before this stranger appeared.”
Koopa: “Sir, I’m sorry to interrupt, but I have excellent news to report! We tested the liquid as a fuel for this hover pad. It worked exceptionally well. We made three trips around the planet and barely used any of the fuel.”
Slippy: “OH YEAH that reminds me, the Great Fox needs fuel. And there’s definitely enough liquid to spare here, if you wouldn’t mind, Bowser. This way we can go hunt down this Destroyer and stop him from destroying anymore worlds.”
Bowser Jr. “HEY, no one said anything about leaving the Mushroom Kingdom!”
Bowser: “Son, I don’t think we really have many other options. It’s either help them, or sit here and eventually be destroyed like Pop Star.”
Mario: “You’re being abnormally intelligent today, what gives?”
Bowser: “I guess hard times pull out the best in me? I don’t know, so can we drop the subject or do you want to sit here like a bunch of pansies discussing my thoughts and feelings? OK, frog, you can have my turnip potion. Where is your ship?”
MK: “It’s on the outskirts of Yoshi’s Island”
Luigi: “We could load the liquid on that big hover pad that koopa was talking about and get there in no time!”
Bowser agreed and had his minions move the large vat of liquid onto the hover pad. Everyone took their place on it as it rose up through the large green pipe and emerged in the middle of the lava lake. As they made their course towards Yoshi’s Island, Mario couldn’t shake the feeling that something was still dangerously wrong, and whatever it was would happen soon.

Boshi dragged the sack of golden turnips over to Geno and laid it at his feet. Geno opened the bag and began to examine its contents. He pulled out one of the turnips and began to eat. After he had eaten an entire turnip he could feel it’s power surging through him. He reached in the bag for another when the same deafening screech was heard. Geno fell to the ground in agony. Again, a voice reached out to him.
Voice: “Geno, Geno my friend. Please listen to my voice and return to us.”
Geno: “Why do you torment me so?”
Voice: “I bring a warning to the darkness within you. Be gone from Geno’s body or we, the powers of Star Road, shall force you out.”
Geno: “NEVER!!!”
With his last scream, pain worse than he had ever felt consumed his body glowed with black aura. His eyes were as red as blood as the evil within him struggled rid him of the voice of light. The voice left him once more as he shot a blast of aura around him. He opened his eyes to see his turnip bag was missing, as well as his minion, Boshi. Geno gritted his teeth in anger and rose up into the air to see if he could locate them. Several yards away, he could see Boshi desperately running away with the bag of Golden turnips. Geno was now filled with fury at his betrayal. He rose into the air and conjured large amounts of dark energy. Slowly the ball of energy grew larger and larger till he released it upon the entire northern region of Yoshi’s Island, completely obliterating the area and the traitorous Boshi. This did not pacify his rage. He descended upon Yoshi’s island in search of a fight.

Bowser’s hover pad was flying at top speed due to the golden turnip fuel. They could slowly see Yoshi’s Island on the horizon, but to their horror, large quantities of smoke could be seen rising into the air. Bowser increased their speed towards the Island. Mario’s knew in his gut that this had something to do with the ominous feeling he had. When they had arrived at the ruin, Bowser lowered the hovercraft to look.
Yoshi: “Wha…What happened here?”
Waluigi: “Looks like a giant explosion or something.”
Bowser Jr.: “Brilliant deduction there.”
Yoshi: “This part of the island was home to many Pak E Derms. Yoshi’s didn’t live here, so that’s something good.”
Bowser: “There doesn’t appear to be any danger around right now, so let’s just head on to that ship. We’ll deal with this later.”
The hover pad rose back into the air and made its way to the Great Fox. Slippy shouted into the air at the sight of it, but began laughing as he saw Peppy standing outside poking a Shy Guy with a stick.
Peppy: “What in tarnation are you?”
Shy Guy: “Hey, stop it, that hurts!”
Peppy: “Oh, sorry I didn’t mean to…….Slippy?”
Peppy looked up to see Bowser’s hover pad landing in front of him, Slippy was waving his hands. Slippy jumped to the ground and began introducing everyone to Peppy. They discussed the golden turnip potion and how it would be a more than adequate power supply. Bowser ordered his koopas who had boarded with the container to follow Slippy and Peppy and pour most of the liquid into the fuel tanks. King Dedede was welcomed warmly by his own minions. The koopas returned with a large quantity of the potion left and placed it into the Great Fox’s hanger. All seemed well, until a strange noise from the nearby trees distracted them. They all turned to see what could have been the cause of the noise. Suddenly, a path was being created through the trees as they were toppled over or uprooted and tossed into the air. Bowser and Dedede ordered their minions to follow Peppy back into the Great Fox for protection. Just as the last waddle dee entered the grey fox, a blast of dark energy barely missed the ship, followed by a shout from an enraged, familiar voice. Geno burst from the woods in full fury. He shot energy into the sky and performed another pulse of his black aura. He looked over at Mario and his company and began to laugh.
Geno: “Well well, I search this island for a fight, and look at the bounty that has presented itself.”
Mario: “Geno….what has happened to you?”
Geno: “Nothing but glory, plumber.”
Luigi: “We heard of your visit with The Destoryer.”
Geno: “Yes, my master is very powerful, I am proud to serve him. I was going to have pity on you Mario brothers for your kindness to me in the past, but since you have teamed up with those who have attempted to attack not only me, but my master as well, I have no choice but to destroy you!”
Mario: “Geno, you don’t want to do this. We are your friends!”
Geno: “Wrong again, Mario. You are no longer my friends, and your deaths will bring me great joy!”
Geno closed his eyes and hovered in the air for a moment. Energy began to surge through his body as he floated. Mario and the rest were preparing for the battle ahead of them. Geno opened his eyes once more with a psychotic murderous intent.
