CHAPTER 3: The Assassination Attempt

It was the last day of school for those who attended Polestar Elementary School, located in Twoson. Ness and Paula, both PSI youths, attended the school. It used to be a preschool, but has since grown into an elementary school.
Solid Snake was just on the outskirts of Twoson, and was being given orders by Colonel.
Colonel: Okay Snake. Your objective is to kill BOTH Paula and Jeff.
Snake: You’re kidding, right? They’re just kids.
Colonel: Snake, are you forgetting that they managed to kill Giygas, the very existence of evil power itself, TWICE?
Snake: I fail to see your point.
Colonel: If they can kill the very existence of evil itself and live to tell about it, there’s no telling what else they could do with their powers. They have to be taken out and fast.
Snake: Colonel, what’s gotten into you?
Colonel: Don’t question my decision Snake, just so it.
Snake didn’t respond. He just loaded his gun and climbed up a tree located just outside of Ness and Paula’s classroom. If he aimed the gun at just the right angle, he could kill them both with only one shot. While it was difficult to land the said angle, he finally managed to find it.
Beep... Beep...
Colonel: Snake, I forgot to mention; try and kill them both at once. If you only kill one then go for the other, it gives the survivor time to escape.
Snake: Got ya.
Snake aligned his left eye with the aimer, and put his left index finger on the trigger, ready to shoot. He was expecting another call from Colonel, and he got one.
Beep.... Beep...
Snake: Kept me waiting, huh?
Colonel: Snake, there’s been a break-in down here. We need you to return immediately, so once you’re done with Ness and Paula, return here at once.
Snake: Roger that.
Colonel: As we speak, we are sending a helicopter to your coordinates. Once you kill them, jump into the helicopter and are sure not to be spotted.
Snake: Got it.
Snake returned to focusing on his mission and aimed at just the right angle. He pulled the trigger and fired the gun right through the window. The bullet shattered the glass, but just barely missed Ness and Paula.
Snake: Damn it!
Paula: What was that?!
Snake: Colonel, mission failed!
Colonel: I thought this might happen; Ness and/or Paula might have seen the bullet coming ahead of time. Just take the helicopter and get back here NOW!
Snake activated CYPHER and flew to the helicopter and landed inside. The helicopter flew away.
Ness: Gah! Come back here!
Paula: Don’t bother chasing him, there’s no real point.
