Prologue:
"<sigh>" said Kinley, reading a book. His father, the King of Asmita, came up to him.
"What are you reading?" asked Dempsey, the King. Following him in was Cecil, his brother.
"The origin of our world," Kinley sighed.
"By now I would think you should have known it by heart," Dempsey said. "Long ago, terrible dark dragons roamed the land we now call our home. They were the only creatures, until the great goddess Adhya chose to attempt at making a creature that could stand up to the dragons and tame those wild beasts. But on her first attempt, something went horrible wrong, and the humans learned the ways of the dark drangons, and lived with them, and adopted their destructive ways. So the goddess made another attempt, and created the original 5 humans that were supposed to banish the dragons and dark humans (dark mages). They were Herz the power-hungry, Jaasir the attention seeker, Tomoko the foolish, Atawhai the greedy, and Asmita the faithful. To help these 5 survive amoung the dragons, the goddess lifted the land around the only land mass of our planet, thereby protecting the 5 humans from the dragons and dark ones who lived within or in the abyss beyond these mountains. The goddess, who had used much of her power to do this, needed to strenthen herself again and told the 5 to wait in the land they were now in. So the godess left and the 5 began to live there in the vast land. But as time went by some of the 5 became restless. Herz the power-hungry was the first. He wanted to be the most powerful of the goddess’ new creations, so soon after he left for the mountains to seek out and learn the dark powers of the previous humans. But he was killed. Then, Jaasir, wanting to have glory for himself, went to supposedly find a new land, outside of the mountains, although the others all knew there weren’t any. He left for the mountains too. Tomoko also wanted to be known in history, so soon after Jaasir left, she embarked on her own journey believing on her own she could slay the dragons. And so she left. Now there were 2 left and the goddess still had not returned. Atawhai the greedy began to believe the others and despite protests from Asmita she also left, hoping to find gold and riches in and past the mountains. So she left. And all alone was Asmita. Asmita stayed there and waited for the others to return. And they did. But as the 4 heroes did return, Asmita realized that they had died, and were all puppets of the dark mages who had killed them. So Asmita defeated his former friends and after he did the goddess came back.
“Asmita,” she said. “You are the only one who was truly faithful to me, and so you shall be rewarded. The goddess then gave new life to the country, which grew bountiful harvests, had good weather, and the goddess made more humans for Asmita to rule. And we,” finished Dempsey, “are his direct decendants.”
"I know it well, father," replied Kinley, "but it is the most interesting story in our history, and there are no other stories to read."
"There are no stories in history, only truth," said Dempsey. "And now I must excuse myself, for I must prepare for tomorrow's hanging."
"Who is it?" Cecil asked.
"a traitor to our country, fo he has destroyed my image and defiled my reptuation for doing such. There was a public spectacle when the doll of me that was given to the boy had it's head ripped off by said boy. After this many laughed and joked, and one of my Imperial guard spotted this. The boy has lost his trial and since the punishment for treason is a hanging, it will happen at noon tomorrow."
"What?!?" asked Kinley. "How can you accuse a boy of doing this? You mean the 5 year old? he surely did not do it on purpose."
"But according to the law...," Cecil started.
"For treasonous actions the penalty is death, no matter what led to it. Now I must be going." Dempsey left the room frowning, followed by Cecil.
"I cannot let this happen," said Kinley. "I need to free the boy, for I saw and know he was innocent. But I will need weapons and most likely help. Hopefully I may find some of each." And having said that Kinley left the room, dropping the book open to a page filled with a drawing of the 5 original humans holding their weapons high towards a gleaming sun.
[and for a little backround, not sure where I could have fit it in, but all men (and women who volunteer) ages 18 and older must go to defend the border of the country. Some men, though, are held back to live within the country so that the population does not go extinct]
Chapter 1: Two Brothers
the scene has changed, and the goal right now is to talk to Cecil about what is going on.
Kinley was going to go find his brother, but he saw his bank and thought it wise to bring some money. So he took some out of his bank, and then left.
[glow=brown,2,300]Got 100 gold![/glow]
Kinley walked into his brother's bedroom, where Cecil was laying down.
"Cecil," Kinley said.
"Yes?" Cecil asked.
"What do you think of the trial?" Kinley asked.
"Well, I suppose he is getting what he deserves," Cecil replied.
"But you don't think its wrong at all?"
"Well, he did commit treason..."
"But dont you think it was an accident?"
"No. Why, do you?"
"...no. of course not. Now, do you know who is supposed to be guarding the armory?"
"I believe only 5 of our men should be gaurding it, the rest of the Imperial Guard must look after both of us and father."
"Ok...thanks. I'll see you around." Kinley left, and Cecil went back to looking up at the ceiling.

Chapter 2: In Town
Kinley walked out of a back exit of his castle, wearing a brown cloak, and began to roam the town to look for anybody willing and able to help him in his quest. He was not sure what he was looking for, but he set off down the main street anyways.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kilik just finish a job of slaying some bandits and went to the main street of some town. He went inside a bar and signaled for a beer. the bar waitress handed him a beer.
Waitress: aren't all men supposed to go to the border of this countr by now?
Kilik:.....(drinks beer)
Waitress: hey, i'm talking to you.
Kilik: never heard about it....Isn't there supposed to be a hanging tommarow?
Waitress: yes, a 5 year old boy
Kilik practically spat out his toung.
Kilik: what the bloody hell did he do? Kill a nation?
Waitress: I heard there was a doll of the king and the boy ripped his head off.
Kilik: wish it was a voodoo doll
Waitress: what?
Kilik: nothing. please go on
Waitress: a guard spotted him. it was counted as treason and now he will be hanged.
Kilik: Couldn't they just give the kid a spanking? Thats redicolous.
a man in a brown cloak walked in.
Kilik ignored him and kept drinking his beer
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kinley, in his cloak, entered a local bar, and posted a sign for the hanging. A crowd of people went up to it, and began mumering amoungst themselves(all women). Kinley heard bits and pieces of the conversations;
"A young boy? For this crime?"
"Goddess, What has this world come to?"
"Shouldn't someone do something about it?"
"Who would go and stand up to the emperor? You would be put to death too."
Kinley walked over to the bar, and sat down next to the man sitting there.
"You. You have weapons there, but show no sign of being in the army. Who are you? A ... mercenary. If so, i have a job for you that will will greatly reward you."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
that got Kilik's attention.
"Whats your name kid?" Kilik asked
"That depends if you will take up the job," the boy said.
"What kind of job?" Kilik asked.
" Its about the hanging coming up. It's just wrong"
"aye."
"So will you help me?"
Kilik thought about this, then sighed. "Alright, i'll take up the job. Oh! And i'll give you no charge for this one. You look like a kid who needs money.
" uh, thanks." the boy said. "My name is Kinley by the way."
"Really?" Kilik said in suprise. "Things have gotten a lot interesting around here."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Let's walk," said Kinnley, and the two walked out of the bar.
"Now. You have weapons, but I don't. And even though you know who I am, don't say my real name, because it would attract attention. Now you have weapons right? But I need some. So I plan on breaking into the armoury." Kilik then looked at him incredulously.
"You want to break into the weaponry of your father's country?" he asked.
"Yes...I've been silent long enough. My father doesn't treat the people right. I've always been against him in his views and such. Oh, and just so you know, I don't expect to be welcomed anywhere around here after this, especially if I'm recognized. So as for the armoury. You have any idea of how to get in?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kilik came up with a bunch of evil thoughts. hehehe
then he spoke up. "Alright, i got some ideas. But first lets head near the armory"
Once they appeared outside the armory, Kilik told the plan. "There are 2 guards inside. I suspect to prevent escaping. Its a small amory so it shouldn't be too hard. You somehow destract the guards and i'll go knock out the dealer. Then we get what weapon you want."
"sounds simple enough," Kinnley said.
"Yeah, just don't get caught. Or you'll be hanging around with that 5 year old if you catch my drift."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before he left, Kinley mentions that he wanted a sword. Then, Kinley nodded, and went behind some bushes, taking off his cloak, so now he was dressed as normal. As he walked to the guards, he thought, why'd i have to ask for help. He seems a bit...I don't know, mercenary like...well, I know what I mean anyways.
"Hello," Kinley said to the guards. "I am here on behalf of my father, who would like an inventory of all items. One of you will need to go and get a parchment, and ink please."
"Of course, sire," said the 1st, who then left.
"also I would like you to give me a report on what has been going on here, any visitors, anything. Let's walk around the armory, I'd like to see the back hallways and any other passages through here."
"But...I need to guard the door here."
"Are you disobeying the kings orders?"
"N..no, of course not," the 2nd guard said, scared.
"Do not worry, I will not say anything about that, you are just focused on your job, now lets walk..." Kinley replied, backing off and they began to walk around the prison. But as he walked around, he could not help but think maybe what I'm doing is wrong.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Devious little child isn't he? Kilik thought.
Kilik walked into the armory.
Dude: welcome! what can i get you?
Kilik: Yes can i get a sword. No cheese please.
Dude: what?
with swift movements Kilik punched the guy in the gut.
I guess nothing comes without cheese nowadays Kilik thought.
Kilik went outside and signaled for the kid to come in. They headed to the back of the building where the swords are.
"Alright now pick what you want and before the guards get back".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Ok, I need to go back and see the other guy soon, so just could you take a couple swords for me? It looks more common for you to have weapons, not the prince. I can see what we have back at the castle for payment for you. And take a couple things for yourself. But don't take too much, we can't be obvious. Now, how about we go over plans tonight at aboubt 9:00 outside the castle garden? I can't be out to late, since my dad always liked to know where I am."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"alright."
Kilik got a few swords and potions and elixers and through a little bit of money on the fainted guy. Then left. It was about 5:00 right now so they had 4 hours to get ready. As the guards were coming, Kilik ran from the armory. Now Kilik went inside the bar place and drank and partied for a little less then 4 hours.
"well it seems like its almost time," Kilik said to himself and he departed to the castle. As he reached the castle gates and jumped over them to the garden. 9:00. just in time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kinley went home, to the castle, apprehensive about what was to happen. He knew it was right, but thought maybe he could convince his father of this too. But no, his father was too strict.
Kinley walked around town for a couple hours, trying to find anyone else to help, but he found no one. And so he headed home at 7:00, and met his father at the door.
"Where were you?" Dempsey asked.
"I was taking my constitutional."
"For 3 hours?"
"Is it wrong to want some air?"
"Well, we're having dinner soon, so get ready."
There was another (ordinary) elegant dinner for him at 7:30. He pretended to read for a while, and as it neared 9:00, he headed to his room.
"Father...I do not feel well, and so I shall go to be now. Please, I beg of you do not disturb me."
"Alright son, rest well," Dempsey replied. Kinley shut his door.
"Sorry I'm late," Kinley said, out of breath. it was 9:11. "So we need to come up with a plan. The scaffold is in the town square, and everyone will probably be watching so we won't have much room to move. Also the closest exit from there is the north exit of the town. That is, unless we want to try to free him tonight."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Yes, we shall free the boy tonight. We should try to finish this before the sun rises though. First: I'll cause a distraction on one side of the jail that the kid is. Then, you will need to find your own way through. Take this dagger for picking the lock on the bars. I will fight my way to your location. Then we shall make an escape plan there. Sound good?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Sounds good," Kinley replied. "But try to do this stealthily, we don't want more guards chasing us then need be. lets go."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
{9:30}
Back at the house, Cecil found Dempsey.
"Father," said Cecil. "Where is Kinley?"
"He said he was sick, and went to bed early."
"But father, he is not in his room."
"What?!?" They went to Kinley's room, and found it empty. "Do you know where he was today?"
"What do you..."
"DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR BROTHER WAS THIS AFTERNOON?"
"No!"
"When was the last time you talked to him?"
"I don't know, around 3:00, he was asking me about my opinion of the hanging..."
"and before he believed it to be too harsh."
"..."
(Dempsey, angry) "My...little...rebel..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
10:00
Epic and Kinley arived at the jail center. Epic told the plan a 2nd time and then went to action.
Epic reached the south side of the jail. There were plenty of guards back there. don't really know why...they should be in the front. But no one would plan doing a break in from the front anyways. Whatever...Epic drank a bottle of Beer, and then went into the spotlight.
Gurad: Sir, this is a jail center, what are you doing here?
Epic: I'm here to party guys! *Takes out Blade*
Guard: Put that weapon away or get on the ground. Or be killed.
Epic: hmm..i choose...PARTY!!!!
Epic went in a skirmish with the guards. The guards called for back up and the the guards in the front came into the back to join the rumble.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kinley, meanwhile, threw up the hood on his cloak, and entered the prison. surprisingly he saw no guards down on the way to where the cell was supposed to be. So he crept through the corridors quietly, but came to an abrupt halt as he saw that a dozen guards were by the cell.
"Crap," Kinley thought. He then went downstairs, unnoticed, and found other, unguarded prisoners who he recognized as being unlawfully (in his mind) imprisoned. He began to unlock their cells, and one asked," Who are you?"
"Nevermind. You shouldn't be in here, and so, now you're free." Kinley replied.
The prisoners began to run, and, realizing there had been a breakout, all the guards around the boy's cell left. Kinley frowned though, as he neared the cell. There was no one in it, but a parchment posted there.
Sorry Kinley,
Your Prisoner
Has Been Moved To Another Building
"I have to go warn him, if he is captured, all's lost," Kinley said, and went to go find Killik
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Although Kinley tried to find Killik, he found no trace of the mercenary. As he reached the doorway through which he entered, he slipped the dagger into his pocket but kept his hand in there, in case he needed to fight. But when he slowly walked out, he saw his father with a bunch or armored guards.
"You're in big trouble."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
{Castle Asmita, 11:12 PM}
“Why? Why would you go against what is right?”
Kinley stayed silent. He was sitting in a chair, in the dining room. He and his father were behind a long dinner table, in front of the fireplace. Kinley sat in his chair on one side, and Dempsey pacing on the other.
“…I asked you a question.”
Kinley remained silent.
“WHY?!?”
Kinley stood up angry. “WHY? WHY? BECAUSE YOU ARE HANGING A CHILD FOR RIPPING A DOLL BY MISTAKE!!!!”
“IT WAS CONTEMPT AGAINST THE CROWN!”
“NO IT WASN’T, CAN’T YOU SEE? EVERYONE KNOWS IT WAS AN ACCIDENT, BUT YOU CAN ONLY THINK OF YOUR POWER!”
“IT IS RIGHTFUL BY THE LAW…”
“WHAT IF THE LAW IS WRONG!”
“I AM KING, I MAKE THE DECISIONS. ACTING LIKE THIS WILL GET YOU DISENHERITED.”
“WHY WOULD I WANT TO BE KING IN YOUR WAKE? THE PEOPLE HATE YOU, IN CASE YOU HAVEN’T NOTICED. AND THIS ISN’T DOING ANYTHING TO HELP YOUR REPUTATION. I’M GOING TO BED.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
{Castle Asmita, 7:59 AM}
"Wake up Kinley," dempsey said, entering his son's room. Guards had guarded the room all night. "We need to make preparations for the hanging."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
{Town Square, 11:10 AM}
“…and is sentenced to hang by the neck, until dead.” A mother was crying in the crowd. She was a widow, who was about to see he son die.
“Father,” Kinley said. “I need to go…”
“What do you mean son,” Dempsey asked, not looking away from the child.
“bathroom,” Kinley whispered.
“Oh. Well, fine then,” dempesy said, and motioned to some guards. They escorted Kinley down the steps of the platform he had been watching the hanging from. Drums were playing, and the noose was being put around the boy’s neck. Kinley walked slightly faster, and fingered something in his pocket. {11:11 AM}As the boy was about to be hung, Kinley broke away from the guards, and threw the dagger. It slashed the rope, and stuck into the piece of wood behind it.
The crowd gasped, and made way for Kinley as he ran towards the scaffold.
“Guards!” yelled Dempsey, angry. He would not let his son follow his foolhardy idea that the hanging was a fraud. Cecil did not move, and only could watch, half in horror, half in astonishment. The royal guards, most of them anyway, rushed towards the scaffold, but somehow, the people would not let them through easily. Kinley reached the scaffold, and took the knife, cut the ropes around the boy’s wrists and feet, and turned away from the child, kneeling down.
“Hop on,” Kinley said to the boy, smiling. The boy jumped on his back, piggy back style, and Kinley ran towards the city gates. The boy was holding Kinley’s neck and Kinley held the boy up with his left hand; in his right he held the knife.
“Move away, he has a weapon!” one of the women said, somewhat feebly. The crowd moved, and gave him a strait path out of the city, while making it harder for the guards. Even the executioner had done nothing to stop Kinley. Kinley even thought he heard words of encouragement.
“My son!” one woman cried, happily though, as she watched Kinley kidnapping her son. Kinley knew that the boy could not stay, so he now had a companion in his new life.
“You are marked now, Kinley!” the king yelled. “You have gone against the crown, against your own flesh and blood. You are no son of mine!”
Kinley gritted his teeth, as he set out for his new life.
Chapter 3: A New Life
{Woods, 3:15 PM}
Tarun was sitting in the woods, alone. What had happened earlier that day was confusing to him, but he thought he understood most of it. The king was mad at him, and wanted him killed. But right before he was going to die, an orange haired boy saved him. The guy must have known the king, cause the king yelled at him. The boy then returned with some scrolls, and he began to read them.
"They made these fast. There was a pile of these parchments. 'Rebel Prince Makes Off With Criminal'...'King Denounces Oldest Son'...hmm...they convieniently forget to mention that you were 5, and only ripped the head off a doll," Kinley said. Tarun then remembered; the boy who saved him told him to stay in the woods, and be quiet. He told him that he wouldn't be able to go home to his mom for a while at least, and for now to call him Uncle Kinley. The boy seemed nice enough.
Kinley then sat down next to Tarun. "I think I already told you my name is Kinley," Kinley said. "But I should try to explain this to you. My father, the king,...he was mad at you for some reason, a stupid reason. So I came to save you. But the thing is, if they find us, the soldiers, they'll lock us up again. Hopefully I can sneak back and find your mom, and get you two back together. But it'll have to be far away, and right now I can't go back, if I do someone will recognize me, and we'd be put in jail. So we need to hide out for a while. Is that ok?"
Tarun nodded, only understanding some of it. Main thing was, he couldn't go home for a while. Kinley went back to reading.
"I'm hungry," said Tarun.
"Here you go," Kinley said, taking out a roll from a bag, filled with about a dozen rolls. "But this is all we have, it'll have to last us till I get more food." Tarun nibbled on the roll, and a little later, Kinley spoke out loud again.
Kinley was holding a small note that had been placed in one of the papers. "Kinley is good. Meet behind the tavern at 11:15 if you agree." Kinley shook his head. "That was stupid. Tarun, right? I have to be somewhere tonight. I'll tell you more later, but make sure you stay where I tell you to. This could be dangerous."
"You. You have weapons there, but show no sign of being in the army. Who are you? A ... mercenary. If so, i have a job for you that will will greatly reward you."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
that got Kilik's attention.
"Whats your name kid?" Kilik asked
"That depends if you will take up the job," the boy said.
"What kind of job?" Kilik asked.
" Its about the hanging coming up. It's just wrong"
"aye."
"So will you help me?"
Kilik thought about this, then sighed. "Alright, i'll take up the job. Oh! And i'll give you no charge for this one. You look like a kid who needs money.
" uh, thanks." the boy said. "My name is Kinley by the way."
"Really?" Kilik said in suprise. "Things have gotten a lot interesting around here."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Let's walk," said Kinnley, and the two walked out of the bar.
"Now. You have weapons, but I don't. And even though you know who I am, don't say my real name, because it would attract attention. Now you have weapons right? But I need some. So I plan on breaking into the armoury." Kilik then looked at him incredulously.
"You want to break into the weaponry of your father's country?" he asked.
"Yes...I've been silent long enough. My father doesn't treat the people right. I've always been against him in his views and such. Oh, and just so you know, I don't expect to be welcomed anywhere around here after this, especially if I'm recognized. So as for the armoury. You have any idea of how to get in?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kilik came up with a bunch of evil thoughts. hehehe
then he spoke up. "Alright, i got some ideas. But first lets head near the armory"
Once they appeared outside the armory, Kilik told the plan. "There are 2 guards inside. I suspect to prevent escaping. Its a small amory so it shouldn't be too hard. You somehow destract the guards and i'll go knock out the dealer. Then we get what weapon you want."
"sounds simple enough," Kinnley said.
"Yeah, just don't get caught. Or you'll be hanging around with that 5 year old if you catch my drift."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before he left, Kinley mentions that he wanted a sword. Then, Kinley nodded, and went behind some bushes, taking off his cloak, so now he was dressed as normal. As he walked to the guards, he thought, why'd i have to ask for help. He seems a bit...I don't know, mercenary like...well, I know what I mean anyways.
"Hello," Kinley said to the guards. "I am here on behalf of my father, who would like an inventory of all items. One of you will need to go and get a parchment, and ink please."
"Of course, sire," said the 1st, who then left.
"also I would like you to give me a report on what has been going on here, any visitors, anything. Let's walk around the armory, I'd like to see the back hallways and any other passages through here."
"But...I need to guard the door here."
"Are you disobeying the kings orders?"
"N..no, of course not," the 2nd guard said, scared.
"Do not worry, I will not say anything about that, you are just focused on your job, now lets walk..." Kinley replied, backing off and they began to walk around the prison. But as he walked around, he could not help but think maybe what I'm doing is wrong.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Devious little child isn't he? Kilik thought.
Kilik walked into the armory.
Dude: welcome! what can i get you?
Kilik: Yes can i get a sword. No cheese please.
Dude: what?
with swift movements Kilik punched the guy in the gut.
I guess nothing comes without cheese nowadays Kilik thought.
Kilik went outside and signaled for the kid to come in. They headed to the back of the building where the swords are.
"Alright now pick what you want and before the guards get back".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Ok, I need to go back and see the other guy soon, so just could you take a couple swords for me? It looks more common for you to have weapons, not the prince. I can see what we have back at the castle for payment for you. And take a couple things for yourself. But don't take too much, we can't be obvious. Now, how about we go over plans tonight at aboubt 9:00 outside the castle garden? I can't be out to late, since my dad always liked to know where I am."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"alright."
Kilik got a few swords and potions and elixers and through a little bit of money on the fainted guy. Then left. It was about 5:00 right now so they had 4 hours to get ready. As the guards were coming, Kilik ran from the armory. Now Kilik went inside the bar place and drank and partied for a little less then 4 hours.
"well it seems like its almost time," Kilik said to himself and he departed to the castle. As he reached the castle gates and jumped over them to the garden. 9:00. just in time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kinley went home, to the castle, apprehensive about what was to happen. He knew it was right, but thought maybe he could convince his father of this too. But no, his father was too strict.
Kinley walked around town for a couple hours, trying to find anyone else to help, but he found no one. And so he headed home at 7:00, and met his father at the door.
"Where were you?" Dempsey asked.
"I was taking my constitutional."
"For 3 hours?"
"Is it wrong to want some air?"
"Well, we're having dinner soon, so get ready."
There was another (ordinary) elegant dinner for him at 7:30. He pretended to read for a while, and as it neared 9:00, he headed to his room.
"Father...I do not feel well, and so I shall go to be now. Please, I beg of you do not disturb me."
"Alright son, rest well," Dempsey replied. Kinley shut his door.
"Sorry I'm late," Kinley said, out of breath. it was 9:11. "So we need to come up with a plan. The scaffold is in the town square, and everyone will probably be watching so we won't have much room to move. Also the closest exit from there is the north exit of the town. That is, unless we want to try to free him tonight."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Yes, we shall free the boy tonight. We should try to finish this before the sun rises though. First: I'll cause a distraction on one side of the jail that the kid is. Then, you will need to find your own way through. Take this dagger for picking the lock on the bars. I will fight my way to your location. Then we shall make an escape plan there. Sound good?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Sounds good," Kinley replied. "But try to do this stealthily, we don't want more guards chasing us then need be. lets go."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
{9:30}
Back at the house, Cecil found Dempsey.
"Father," said Cecil. "Where is Kinley?"
"He said he was sick, and went to bed early."
"But father, he is not in his room."
"What?!?" They went to Kinley's room, and found it empty. "Do you know where he was today?"
"What do you..."
"DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR BROTHER WAS THIS AFTERNOON?"
"No!"
"When was the last time you talked to him?"
"I don't know, around 3:00, he was asking me about my opinion of the hanging..."
"and before he believed it to be too harsh."
"..."
(Dempsey, angry) "My...little...rebel..."

Kinley, meanwhile, threw up the hood on his cloak, and entered the prison. surprisingly he saw no guards down on the way to where the cell was supposed to be. So he crept through the corridors quietly, but came to an abrupt halt as he saw that a dozen guards were by the cell.
"Crap," Kinley thought. He then went downstairs, unnoticed, and found other, unguarded prisoners who he recognized as being unlawfully (in his mind) imprisoned. He began to unlock their cells, and one asked," Who are you?"
"Nevermind. You shouldn't be in here, and so, now you're free." Kinley replied.
The prisoners began to run, and, realizing there had been a breakout, all the guards around the boy's cell left. Kinley frowned though, as he neared the cell. There was no one in it, but a parchment posted there.
Sorry Kinley,
Your Prisoner
Has Been Moved To Another Building
"I have to go warn him, if he is captured, all's lost," Kinley said, and went to go find Killik
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Although Kinley tried to find Killik, he found no trace of the mercenary. As he reached the doorway through which he entered, he slipped the dagger into his pocket but kept his hand in there, in case he needed to fight. But when he slowly walked out, he saw his father with a bunch or armored guards.
"You're in big trouble."
{Castle Asmita, 11:12 PM}
“Why? Why would you go against what is right?”
Kinley stayed silent. He was sitting in a chair, in the dining room. He and his father were behind a long dinner table, in front of the fireplace. Kinley sat in his chair on one side, and Dempsey pacing on the other.
“…I asked you a question.”
Kinley remained silent.
“WHY?!?”
Kinley stood up angry. “WHY? WHY? BECAUSE YOU ARE HANGING A CHILD FOR RIPPING A DOLL BY MISTAKE!!!!”
“IT WAS CONTEMPT AGAINST THE CROWN!”
“NO IT WASN’T, CAN’T YOU SEE? EVERYONE KNOWS IT WAS AN ACCIDENT, BUT YOU CAN ONLY THINK OF YOUR POWER!”
“IT IS RIGHTFUL BY THE LAW…”
“WHAT IF THE LAW IS WRONG!”
“I AM KING, I MAKE THE DECISIONS. ACTING LIKE THIS WILL GET YOU DISENHERITED.”
“WHY WOULD I WANT TO BE KING IN YOUR WAKE? THE PEOPLE HATE YOU, IN CASE YOU HAVEN’T NOTICED. AND THIS ISN’T DOING ANYTHING TO HELP YOUR REPUTATION. I’M GOING TO BED.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
{Castle Asmita, 7:59 AM}
"Wake up Kinley," dempsey said, entering his son's room. Guards had guarded the room all night. "We need to make preparations for the hanging."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
{Town Square, 11:10 AM}
“…and is sentenced to hang by the neck, until dead.” A mother was crying in the crowd. She was a widow, who was about to see he son die.
“Father,” Kinley said. “I need to go…”
“What do you mean son,” Dempsey asked, not looking away from the child.
“bathroom,” Kinley whispered.
“Oh. Well, fine then,” dempesy said, and motioned to some guards. They escorted Kinley down the steps of the platform he had been watching the hanging from. Drums were playing, and the noose was being put around the boy’s neck. Kinley walked slightly faster, and fingered something in his pocket. {11:11 AM}As the boy was about to be hung, Kinley broke away from the guards, and threw the dagger. It slashed the rope, and stuck into the piece of wood behind it.
The crowd gasped, and made way for Kinley as he ran towards the scaffold.
“Guards!” yelled Dempsey, angry. He would not let his son follow his foolhardy idea that the hanging was a fraud. Cecil did not move, and only could watch, half in horror, half in astonishment. The royal guards, most of them anyway, rushed towards the scaffold, but somehow, the people would not let them through easily. Kinley reached the scaffold, and took the knife, cut the ropes around the boy’s wrists and feet, and turned away from the child, kneeling down.
“Hop on,” Kinley said to the boy, smiling. The boy jumped on his back, piggy back style, and Kinley ran towards the city gates. The boy was holding Kinley’s neck and Kinley held the boy up with his left hand; in his right he held the knife.
“Move away, he has a weapon!” one of the women said, somewhat feebly. The crowd moved, and gave him a strait path out of the city, while making it harder for the guards. Even the executioner had done nothing to stop Kinley. Kinley even thought he heard words of encouragement.
“My son!” one woman cried, happily though, as she watched Kinley kidnapping her son. Kinley knew that the boy could not stay, so he now had a companion in his new life.
“You are marked now, Kinley!” the king yelled. “You have gone against the crown, against your own flesh and blood. You are no son of mine!”
Kinley gritted his teeth, as he set out for his new life.
Chapter 3: A New Life
{Woods, 3:15 PM}
Tarun was sitting in the woods, alone. What had happened earlier that day was confusing to him, but he thought he understood most of it. The king was mad at him, and wanted him killed. But right before he was going to die, an orange haired boy saved him. The guy must have known the king, cause the king yelled at him. The boy then returned with some scrolls, and he began to read them.
"They made these fast. There was a pile of these parchments. 'Rebel Prince Makes Off With Criminal'...'King Denounces Oldest Son'...hmm...they convieniently forget to mention that you were 5, and only ripped the head off a doll," Kinley said. Tarun then remembered; the boy who saved him told him to stay in the woods, and be quiet. He told him that he wouldn't be able to go home to his mom for a while at least, and for now to call him Uncle Kinley. The boy seemed nice enough.
Kinley then sat down next to Tarun. "I think I already told you my name is Kinley," Kinley said. "But I should try to explain this to you. My father, the king,...he was mad at you for some reason, a stupid reason. So I came to save you. But the thing is, if they find us, the soldiers, they'll lock us up again. Hopefully I can sneak back and find your mom, and get you two back together. But it'll have to be far away, and right now I can't go back, if I do someone will recognize me, and we'd be put in jail. So we need to hide out for a while. Is that ok?"
Tarun nodded, only understanding some of it. Main thing was, he couldn't go home for a while. Kinley went back to reading.
"I'm hungry," said Tarun.
"Here you go," Kinley said, taking out a roll from a bag, filled with about a dozen rolls. "But this is all we have, it'll have to last us till I get more food." Tarun nibbled on the roll, and a little later, Kinley spoke out loud again.
Kinley was holding a small note that had been placed in one of the papers. "Kinley is good. Meet behind the tavern at 11:15 if you agree." Kinley shook his head. "That was stupid. Tarun, right? I have to be somewhere tonight. I'll tell you more later, but make sure you stay where I tell you to. This could be dangerous."
