Boysenberry Syrup was feeling really down. He looked out of his house and gave a rather large sigh. He really wanted to get our of the house. His house was nothing to complain about.. for sure. He had decorated rather lovely inside and it had all the comforts he could need to live peacefully.. but..He loved this Strawberry Land he had moved too, but had made no friends yet. He was very shy, and was worried that the other kids wouldn't like him. He clutched his heart and sat down against the wall under his blue and purple window thinking about things.. a tear came to his eye when he thought about everything he wanted to be and do. He felt so lonely in this small house. He had watched them all play all the other children, and already knew their names by heart. Strawberry Shortcake, Angel Cake, Blueberry Muffin, Orange Blossom, and all the others.
He picked up his bunny "Carrot Juice" and pet him. He was an orange colored rabbit with large eyes and he was very soft. He rubbed his hand through her fur and watched his tears fall on them, slightly dampening the fur every passing through it.
"Maybe you could give me the courage Carrot.. I really wanna go out there.." she said, resisting the urge to clutch Carrot tightly. She was his only friend in the whole world. The only one would listen and understand.
As if Carrot felt this feeling, he suddenly leaped from Boysenberry's arms. Bouncing around the house for a moment creating a small mess, he suddenly leaped threw the window Boysenberry was under and started down beautiful wonderful area of Strawberry Land.
Boysenberry panicked inside. He didn't want to lose his only friend. "CARROT, NO!" he screamed, his tears only getting worse. He rushed out the door, slamming it behind him. He darted quickly down the path after him, though he had already lost sight of her.
Though, he found it easy to follow Carrot, the bunny made large footprints, and wasn't really trying to hide. "Why are you doing this Carrot, you never were this naughty before! Come back!" He kept running throughout the fields of Strawberryland until he came to a house that was shaped itself like a large Strawberry. Feeling a little of his shyness, he approached the house slowly. He guessed this was the was the house of one of the kids he had seen playing outside. He followed the tracks until it led to the window. He took a deep breath, and started shaking. Really hoping that Carrot hadn't ventured inside, he poked his head into the window, slightly. But sure enough, Carrot was there, playing with the dog and cat he recognized as belonging to Strawberry Shortcake.
Suddently a rustle of footsteps came from behind him, and then a sudden voice "Umm.. hello there. Do you need help with something?" said a young, feminine voice. He jumped and turned around.. shaking to find.
Standing behind him was Strawberry Shortcake, holding a basket of freshly picked strawberries from the fields. She had a confused, but friendly look on her face and smiled at him patient for the answer. Faced at suddenly meeting her, he stammered out his reply..
"I.. Um.. I I I was just lu.. looking of my bunny." tears almost coming out from his eyes again.
Strawberry smiled, and pointed at the basket of berries. "These were for him, he showed up just a little while ago, and he acted like he was berry hungry." she laughed, and continued, "If you want, you can come in and have some too. There's plenty for everyone to share!"
Boysenberry was too shy to say it, but he nodded and followed her in. His heart was beating fast as they walked up the steps walking into the house. It was too late to dart away at this point and he really feared what would happen next.. but he would try his best..
He sat down next to his rabbit and it jumped on his lap, suddenly docile. He thought to himself.. "Why are you doing this to me Carrot.. " he wondered, but of course the bunny rabbit wasn't going to reply. He sighed and pet the rabbit twice and looked over at Strawberry.
"So, I've never seen you around here before. Are you new to Strawberry Land? Is it you who lives in that new house by the fields?" Strawberry asked, sweetly.
"Umm.. sorta..uhh.. yeah." he replied.
"Well it's wonderful to meet you! I'm Strawberry Shortcake!" she said, holding out her hand in kindness. She was always enthusiastic about making a berry good new friend and this time was was no different.
He shook it, and began to grew nervous again. He never had imagined a hour ago that he would be sitting here talking with her... he didn't want to be here..
"That's a really pretty skirt your wearing. The pink goes lovely with your purple blue hair. It's berry cute." she said with a giggle, noticing his shyness and trying to make him feel better and more open.
He felt ridiculous and grew upset. He hadn't realized he had walked out in the skirt. He looked down on it.. it's was very feminine and cute. One of his favorites, but he never would have walked out in it. Everyone would laugh at him... he felt like crying again. His long hair was bad enough. Now no one would ever like him.. "Umm.. I'm.. I'm.. sorry." he said shaking.
"Why are you sorry? It's berry cute, like I said. It reminds me of some cute clothes I have. We have similar tastes. I always love to meet a new kid to share clothes with." Strawberry said still smiling. She wasn't phased at all by what he was. True to her mature kindness, she didn't say a word about him being a boy.
He started crying.. this was all too much. He didn't want to be here.. he didn't want to be here. But suddenly.. Strawberry was hugging him. She pet the back of his head comfortingly and said.. "Hey, don't cry.. everything's fine. I can tell your a berry special girl with a berry big heart.. and that's all you need to be my friend." she said stood up and grabbed his hand.
"So that's what we're going to be, friends, okay?" she asked.
He couldn't describe how he was feeling.. she called him.. a girl. She told him that he had a big heart.. was that really all that mattered? Even if he was different? He almost didn't believe her but.. he knew he had to trust someone.
"O...kay. Sure." he said, sniffling, he took her hand.. but little did he know all the adventures this day would bring..
