Chapter 1: The Wind of New Beginnings
New Bark Town
Gold walked out his house, looked to his left and then to his right, inhaled and then exhaled, and then looked at his PokeGear. This day is special to Gold since Prof. Elm asked him to do a task for him. He is hoping that the task will be so epic and awesome that only he qualifies for the job. So, he began running off the Professor’s lab but is quickly interrupted by his friend Soul.
“Hey, Gold! Why are you running? Are practicing for something? It’s not like you have something to do.”
“Ha ha, very funny. Actually, Prof. Elm wants me to do a task for him. Yes that’s right me. I feel very special.” As Gold said that, he pointed his thumb at himself to further show that he is indeed important.
“Well, I hope you have fun then,” said Soul, as she walked away giggling. Soul, a young petite girl who wears blue knee-high overalls over a red long-sleeved shirt and a white puffy hat with a nice thin red ribbon wrapped around it.
Gold looked at his PokeGear for the time and worried that he might not make it time, so he rushed to the Professor’s Lab. After a few minutes of running, he finally reached the Lab. Gold read the sign a few times to make sure that he was at the right address.
“Woo, I made it. I hope I’m not… What the? Who is that?” Gold realized there was a red-haired boy starring into Prof. Elm’s window. Gold’s initial thought was that maybe the boy was lost so he decided to go up to him and ask if he was.
“Hey excuse, are you lost by any chance?” said Gold softly. The Red-haired boy glared at Gold and then shoved him out of them way. “What the heck! Hey come back here! What was that for?” The Red-Haired Boy looked at Gold and began to walk away. Gold screamed at the mysterious boy, “Wait, answer me damn it!” The Red-Haired Boy turned around and said, “Your face, it disgusts me. I don’t why people like you walk this earth. Meh, leave me be.” With that being said the Red-Haired Boy walked off and the only thing Gold could do is get off his feet and finally go inside Prof. Elm’s Lab.
Gold entered the Lab and greeted Prof. Elm, “Hi, sorry if I’m little late. I had a few run-ins today.” Prof. Elm just smiled and said, “Well, at least you made it. That’s the important part.” Prof. Elm is a tall, slender young man that wears a thin pair of glasses, a white lab coat over a blue collar t-shirt with gold, vertical strips, and lime green slacks. Prof. Elm definitely had no fashion sense but where he lacked in fashion he more than made up in intelligence.
Prof. Elm is mainly in charged of tending and taking care of three starters for trainers starting their journey here in Johto. He also specializes in Pokemon Breeding.
“Gold, as you know I called you down here for a task. Since me and my associates are extremely busy as of late, I needed someone I can trust to run this errand for me. Long story short, I need you to pick up something from Cherrygrove City for me.” Gold’s mouth drop. “You want me to become your errand boy! I thought I would get a more important job then this, but if you want me to I’ll do it…” Prof. Elm smiled and replied, “Joy! But first, you will need a Pokemon since you will have to past through Route 29 to get through Cherrygrove City. So come to the machine and pick out which Pokemon you want to take with you for your errand.”
Gold walked up to the machine that contained Three Pokeballs. He then put his thumb on his lips well he was deciding which Pokemon to choose. “Um, can you show the Pokemon?” Gold said in an unsure kind of matter. “Certainly!” said Prof. Elm. He picked up the Pokeballs and released each Pokemon. He then put his hand over the Pokemon he was introducing to Gold.
“This one is Chikorita, she’s a Grass Type Pokemon,” Chikorita was a cute little pale green Pokemon that had a leaf sprouted from her head; also she has green buds that form a necklace around her neck. “Now this guy over here is a Cyndaquil, he’s a Fire Type Pokemon,” Cyndaquil is a small slanted eye Pokemon that has bluish fur and a milky colored underside, has long snout, and sprouts fire from his back when he is excited. “And last but not least is Totodile, he is a Water Type Pokemon,” Totodile was last of the starter Pokemon, he is small blue bipedal crocodile that has cute wide eyes and protruding red spikes that start from his head and end at his tail.
“So who would it be?” said Prof. Elm eagerly waiting Gold’s decision. “Uhhhhhhhh, this is really hard, but my gut saying Chikorita. So that’s my choice: Chikorita!” said Gold proud and a little unsure. “Really? Hmm, I thought you were going to choose Totodile. Well, no matter, Chikorita it is.” Prof. Elm went on to put the other two Pokemon back in their respective Pokeballs, but when it was Chikorita’s turn, she refused.
“Ah, what do we have here? It appears that she doesn’t want to go back in her Pokeball. Well I guess you will just have to travel with Chikorita at your side. Is that Ok with you Gold?” Gold thrust his arm in the arm and said proudly, “No, I’m fine with it. Chikorita and I will make a great dynamic duo. Nothing will stand in our way.”
Prof. Elm handed over Chikorita’s Pokeball and gave him a potion. “Take good care of Chikorita, Gold. Oh yeah, I almost forgot the person you have to meet up with in Cherrygrove City is Mr. Pokemon. Tell him I sent you and he will give you the package. So, that’s all. Good luck Gold.” said Prof. Elm before Gold embarked on his journey to Cherrygrove City.
Little does Gold knows is that this small task will be the beginning of his tale…
