Since ancient times this good kingdom has known evil.
There are tales of it's creation, of when it truly began, but in the end it was always here, always lurking, waiting.
The Kingdom of Hyrule, the kingdom created by the gods for their people, and the kingdom only they knew. The world was always this way- ruled by an upper class they never saw, always fearful of shadows and what night brings, and they did so with good reason- darkness always encroached upon them. As sure as the setting sun, monsters of all kind ravaged the land, the kingdom of Hyrule. It slowly got worse, and while everyone knew, no one could stop it. The monsters got bolder, stronger, and soon no one could stop them. The world plunged into a chaos it never knew- but matters got worse.
The events that took place after were expertly calculated-- the Triforce, shards of the power the Goddesses had given the people of Hyrule and the only thing capable of turning the tide of the sudden uprising was exactly what the world turned to. Just as planned.
The royal family was slaughtered, as was their guard, by a single man- no, he was no man. A monster in the guise of a man, tall and evil in every sense, Ganondorf, the prince of thieves stole the triforce for himself. The monsters bowed to him- the world was his.
The iron grip of the most evil being to walk this good world tightened his iron grip across the kingdom, and soon, the world. Times had never been worse- the world itself seemed to be ending.
But a single boy rose up from the ashes of what had once been the most proud kingdom of the world, garbed in the colors of the forest and wielding the silvery blade called the Master Sword, the one known as Link stole his way into the castle and assassinated Ganondorf single-handedly. Headless, his rule came crashing down and order was restored to the world- The last surviving Royal, the daughter of a Duke from a far-off province, became Princess Zelda of Hyrule at a mere fourteen years of age, appointing the "God-Killer Hero" Link as her personal bodyguard. Times had never been better for the kingdom of Hyrule.
It was seven years ago that an event set into motion the unstoppable cataclysm that will soon occur. These movements were the work of dark forces the likes of which neither Link nor Zelda could have known about, and in their ignorance, fell right into the trap. The village Link had grown up in, a small, quiet town in the forest, was sacked by creatures once int he service of the demon god Ganondorf, and in search of him killed everyone he ever knew before burning it to the ground. With this heavy in his heart, he made a decision: he would leave the kingdom forever.
Despite all the protests for him to stay, he was adamant on leaving- it was the only way to keep those he loved from being harmed by more attacks. And so, he prepared to leave, but Zelda had one final gift for the man who had restored the kingdom. In exchange for the Master Sword, Zelda commanded the greatest smiths and the greatest sages of the kingdom forge a new sword, the Master Sword's equal or better, that Link would take with him. Accepting this gift graciously, the God-Killer hero left the kingdom of Hyrule, and since that time there have been no sightings of any unnatural monsters.
That was seven years ago, and now the fruition of this plot is upon us.
