Just a private thread. Thank you.
It was just another early morning for Angel. Leaving her house, all dolled up and cute, like any 10 year old girl should be, especially one with such energy. She looked as if she had been up for an hour getting ready with how nicely she was dressed, which was very true. She wasn't very happy in her house, stuck inside her room. It was so lonely in there, and she wanted to play with her very special friend.
It was a crisp Saturday morning in the middle of spring and the flowers were just starting to really bloom, giving the world a very alive feeling. The weather in the morning was mild and perfect, so much to where Angel was perfectly happy and comfortable even in her knee length pleated skirt. Of course it was the year 1999 and the world was pretty quiet for the most part considering the years to come. Humming a little tune she had picked up from her favorite show, she skipped happily along the sidewalk.
Along the way, she saw the prettiest flowers growing out in the middle of an abandoned bit of land and picked them up carefully out of the ground. She loved giving people presents, especially the people she cared about. And there was someone really special that she wanted to give these too. Moving a little bit faster and with a slightly bigger smile, the young girl ran off towards her destination along with the fragrant bouquet.
Sitting outside on the crib in front of the house, she waited, obviously expecting someone else to be up this morning to give these flowers to. She hoped to make a fun day of it.

Saturdays was one of the dullest days of the week. Just another boring day that would pass away in her miserable life. This was a mourning that Yurei really didn't want to get out of bed for but boredom has a weird way of guiding people's actions. As she rose out of bed she wondered why the sun was shinning so brightly outside. It had been gloomy or the past few days. The skies plagued with thick grey clouds and baseball sized raindrops. It was as if the angels themselves were shedding tears across the land.
As Yurei began getting dressed she stared outside her bedroom window. There was nothing for her to smile over but perhaps it would be healthy for her to start the day with some fresh air. She shut the curtains on her windows before she walked out her bedroom door. She carefully walked down the stairs to avoid waking her overprotective parents who seemed to wake to the slightest sound. Once the close was clear she opened the front door, walked outside and gently closed the door.
The sun was indeed brighter than she expected. She had to cover her eyes until they adjusted to the harsh rays of the sun. Perhaps it wasn't a good day to dress up as a gothic lolita but it was the one style that she kept dear to her heart. Her soft black dress went down to her knees followed by her black stockings and her cute black shoes. The most appealing feature was the hat. Yurei considered it to be the cutest little thing to have on any girl's head and she really enjoyed wearing it. As she walked down the steps she noticed a familiar face waiting in front of the house. It was that girl she just met recently a few days back. It was strange that she would even be up this earlier but then again, she had no right to talk. She began walking toward the girl wondering what kind of conversation she should bring up. She expected this day to be silent but perhaps it was nice to start the day someone.

She was happy that she had come out as early as she did. Something about this weather, something about this day was giving Angel a ton of hope. It was going to be a great day, this was something she was as sure as the most basic of math facts about. (Not that she enjoyed math.) Pushing the yellow flowers against her chest, covered by a soft pink t-shirt.. she stammered a bit before saying hello.. "Umm, hi.. Yurei!" she said, thinking how pretty her name was. Her parents must be the kind of cool parents that name their kids all sorts of neat names that make them popular in school.
"I remember when we were walking home a few days back that you stopped here.. I.. I hope I'm not bothering you.. but.." she said, feeling her heartbeat a little harder. She really was a shy girl and even with this mornings optimism, her natural careful-eggshell personality was still evident. Suddenly thrusting the flowers in front of her, feeling the white skirt, brown hair and even felt like shoelaces on her pink sneakers bounce, she cried, "I picked these for you, do you want to play?!", her cheeks flushed and felt hot.. she was turning a bright red. It was true that they had just met, but she didn't have many friends and the walk home from small town's school district they had was the closest thing she had done to hanging out with anyone since her last friend moved away. She wanted to try her hardest to make this work.

"This girl........" Yurei really didn't know how to respond to this girl. Normally she would walk away from such people because of her cold demeanor. She didn't feel like she was worth this type of attention nor was she worth someone's time. However this girl.... seemed to be quite different than the others. Unlike everyone she seemed reserved yet without scorn or anguish. She didn't feel any negative energy in this girl, instead it was like a tiny glimmer of hope. Honestly she never met anyone like this. Yurei took the flowers from the girl hands and tried to put a smile on her face.
"Umm.. Thank you" Her voice was a little nervous and hesitant, she could admit that. The gift was indeed a kind gesture even i it wasn't needed. It was strange what sort of things life could offer during the strangest days. Oh well she couldn't complain. All she could do was just enjoy it while it last. Yurei looked at the girl and nodded modestly.
"Sure, we can do something if you like."

She squeed a bit and even hopped up and down once before containing herself. It was always great to have something work out like this. She spun around a bit once and then wondered what she was going to do now. I mean.. they were going to play, but where?
She knew that there was a playground nearby, so she hoped that they would have some fun there. Unlike Angel, Yurei was wearing more fancier clothings so she worried that she wouldn't want to swing or anything.. but it was the best thing she could think of super fast.
But suddenly realizing that neither of them probably had breakfast, she decided their first course of action. "Umm.. I still have some allowance saved up, do you wanna go get something to eat?" she could pay enough to buy them both a breakfast at a McDonalds or something.. but that was it. Oh well, it was worth it. She could buy another Strawberry Shortcake doll another time.

Yurei nodded gently in agreement with Angel's request. She grabbed her tiny black purse which settled right on top of her shoulders. After opening her bag, she counted the amount of money she had available. "165 dollars....." She thought to herself. She didn't have much money left at all, mostly because of her little shopping spree last weekend. She wondered if she even had enough. Every place she went to had extremely high prices and it was filled with people with expensive taste. The food was very.. strange you might say. It was always some delicacy from a foreign land or a weird new dish that someone though of. Yurei was very tired of it. All she wanted was to have an ordinary life, eating ordinary food and playing with ordinary friends that weren't spoiled brats.
Yurei let out a deep sigh and looked at the cheerful girl that seemed as thought she was bursting with anxiousity. Yurei tried to perk herself up so she wouldn't be such an emotional burden. The next task was finding something to eat. I mean... she could take her to the places her parents usually go to but she might not have enough to pay for it. It was a little puzzling but she figured that this girl would know some neat spots to go to.
"I have some money saved up as well. Where would you like to go?"

She spinned around, feeling a bit of excitement go in her. Taking it in, she spoke with a little more energy and hype than she had before, "Let's got to McDonalds! I have just enough to get us both an ice cream too and then we can go play at the park maybe or go the poll.. or we can go to my house and play!" she was honest and earnest.. trying her hardest to not be shy, to be happy and make a good friends.
Before she was always the silent type that worried she would never fit in, and because of that she sat in every lunch alone, she didn't have any friends and people thought she was a baby. Though.. she admitted to herself, he habit of wetting herself hadn't helped.. so EMBARRASSING. But she was going to do better with this girl. She nodded and started skipping a bit. "You wanna? Let's go!" and with a smile she started, hoping she wasn't freaking her out at all. She seemed kinda.. nervous about something.
