Faction Name:
The Ophite Clan
(More commonly known as the Hunters)
Alighment:
Neutral/Good
Goals:
The snake is capable of defeating much larger foes by striking quickly at key points on the foe's body. By destroying the powerful center of a creature, the rest will collapse underneath it. The snake moves through the shadows, and is not seen until the moment before it strikes; when it is too late.
Kill few; save many. The Ophite Clan believes that by picking off major figures of power, that wars can be prevented, lives can be spared, and conflicts ultimately resolved. The try to forsee problems, and fix them before they airise through quick, desicive action. The Hunters believe that problems cannot be solved through negotiation or persuation. They understand that the majority of mankind is selfish and vain, and do not trust that they can sort out their own disputes. The Hunters lurk in the shadows, and do not accept bounties for their assasinations. They create their own agenda and seek no rewards other than preventing the death of many as caused by few.
The Hunters are extremely secretive, and one can only be admitted to the orginization if invited by an existing member known as a Secret Keeper. Once told of the faction's existance, its base of operation's become's visible, and its member's revealed. It is not uncommon for a hunter to be a double agent in another faction so as to gain information on its leader.
Creation and History:
After the fall of Crehavos, Dobs Dortiem began to wonder how one man could ever posess such power. He began to think that if Crehavos had been stopped sooner, that many lives could have been spared. He thought back to all of his past adventures and realized, that every conflict, no matter how small, tended to sprawl out into the lives of others. Others who were initially uninvolved. He thought of Blank, the Ancient Minister, Mother Brain, Malik, Xzaana, Nemeck, and Crehavos: Each had started organizations or groups, manipulating the weak of mind to bend to their own will. If any of these individuals had been killed beforehand, many lives could have been spared.
Dobs proposed to his companions, bounty hunter Samus Aran, and Skytown mech Toran, that they create an organization to stop such people before they rise to power. They others agreed, and soon, The Ophite Clan was born.
Structure/Organization:
Secret Keepers: The founding members of the Ophite Clan are known as the Secret Keepers. (Ripped off from Harry Potter. I like the idea. I'm using it.) The result of a telekinetic bind created by Dobs, those entrusted with the Secret of the Clan's existance cannot communicate it to anyone without the expressed consent of the Secret Keeper. The Keepers are in charge of recruiting new hunters to join the Clan.
Agents: Headed by Toran, this group is in charge of acquiring targets for assassination, as will as gathering as much information on each target as possible and selecting the best equipped Hunter for each job.
Hunters: Almost everyone falls under this category, these are the members who do the dirty work. They get assignments from the AGENTS, and eliminate targets as inconspicuously as possible. They leave the Assassin's mark near the bodies of the victims with a list of reason's for death. HUNTERS do not negotiate, nor do they surrender. If they fail to eliminate a target, they may not return to Apophis until they have done so.
Location:
A station that cannot be found; except for by those who already know where it is. Apophis is a space station which is cloaked to all of those ignorant to its existance. It is fully mobile, and can drift through space so as to get closer to potential targets. Toran's body is integrated with the station's infrastructure; as it was created from salvaged fragments of Skytown.
Apophis is invisible who have not been informed of its location by a Secret Keeper. Dobs used his telkinetic abilities to make this so, and it has been an extremely useful attribute in maintaining the Clan's secrecy and security.
Special Techniques, Clothing, and Equippment:
All Hunters specialize in stealth, and are trained in it once they arrive at Apophis. Each Hunter is equipped by their own accord, and each individual wears their own armor. However, each member is brandished with the Opthite symbol. It is traditional that after an assasination, the Ophite symbol is left at the scene.
Symbol:
The three snakes are representative of the Faction's philosphy and the way of the Ophites. The symbol is left at the scene of an assassination as a warning to future power hungry fools.
