(Chapter 15: Zero’s Plan, Part Two)
Zero meditated quietly in his room. He floated above the ground, legs crossed, and hands on his kneecaps. His cape floated behind him as he sat in total silence with his eyes closed. Gliscor floated into the room, disturbing him.
“Gliscor, your timing is impecible,” Zero hissed.
“I’m sorry to disturb you, master, but there is something you must see,” the vampire-like Pokemon replied.
Zero took heed to his Pokemon’s words and set him self on the ground. He turned and faced Gliscor. The Pokemon still had that ever-insane look in its eyes. The two left the room and headed to the supercomputer, where they met Ganondorf, Falco, Mewtwo, and Marx.
“This had better be important,” Zero bitterly snapped.
“It’s good, don’t worry,” Marx said.
Falco wheeled around in his chair and faced the grey hedgehog. “We’ve discovered something extraordinary. Remember that alternate-dimension machine?”
“Yes,” Zero replied with a hint of curiosity in his voice.
“Well...” Falco continued, hitting keys on the supercomputer’s keyboard. “What we discovered was that there is already something living in that alternate dimension.”
“Run that by me again?” Zero ordered.
“There- there is already something in that alternate dimension.”
Zero was silent for a few seconds, then asked, “Is it at least vicious? Like, a Gyarados?”
Falco hit a few more buttons. “It’s better than that, sir...it’s something nobody has ever seen before...”
BISSSHYAAAN...!
That got Zero’s attention.
“What was that?” He asked.
“That was the cry of the creature living in the dimension...the Distortion World’s ruler.”
“Siphon out the other sounds, but leave the cry,” Zero ordered.
Falco did so, and the cry could be heard more clearly.
BISSSHYAAAAAN!!
A smile crept its way across Zero’s face. He liked what he heard. Suddenly, something dashed across the screen.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa. Go back and get a shot of that.”
Falco did as he was ordered and managed to get a shot of the creature that blazed across the screen.
“...What is that?”
It was a large, centipede like creature. It had thin black strips coming out of its back and spikes poking out of the side of its body. Around its neck were yellow rings, and had a similar design on the top of its head. Black and red stripes wrapped themselves around its snake-like body. It had beady, red eyes.
“What is that creature?” Zero wondered in awe.
”Its name is Giratina,” Mewtwo replied. “It lives in the Distortion World...a world parallel of ours.”
Zero went silent for a few moments, eyeing the screenshot of the monster.
“And this...Giratina...can it be controlled?”
“It can,” Ganondorf said. “But you need the Griseous Orb to control it.”
“Griseous Orb? Where exactly am I supposed to find that?”
Marx spoke up. “You can find it in the Distortion World, but it’s extremely hard to find. I’d say either Mewtwo or Gliscor should go to get it.”
“I have one question,” Zero stated. “How does this whole “summoning” thing work? I mean, if it can be found in the same area as Giratina, can’t anyone just summon it?”
“Not exactly,” Gliscor said. “Only certain people can summon Giratina...those who are unable to yet try anyway are killed.”
“This sounds like one hell of a Pokemon,” Zero complimented.
Ding!
“What the hell was that?” Zero questioned.
“Heheheh; my voice should sound familiar.”
Zero’s left eye twitched. He recognized the voice. Out from the shadows emerged Sonic Two-Face, fallen hero turned villain. Sonic still had a completely burned left side, but was wearing a black jacket which was perfectly fine on the right, but torn up on the left.
“Falco, kill him!” Zero ordered. But before the blue falcon could even move, Sonic had already pointed his gun to the bird’s head.
“Now, here’s what’s going to go down,” Sonic growled. “That Griseous Orb? We can use that to control Giratina. With it, we can kill The Smashers. I can get the orb and summon Giratina for you. Do you want to cooperate, or should we let a coin flip decide the outcome of Falco’s life?”
Tension filled the air. Zero and his comrades all exchanged looks of confusion and disbelief. Sonic grinned.
“All right then,” the blue hedgehog said, and pulled out a coin. “Heads, he lives. Tails, he dies.”
Sonic flicked the coin upwards with his thumb, and the coin spun in the air. It landed on the ground and rolled around, before finally landing on tails. Sonic pulled the trigger on his gun, and blasted a small hole through Falco’s head. Zero watched as the bird’s body fell to the ground.
“Hm,” was all Zero responded with.
“Heheh,” Sonic chuckled. He twirled the gun and placed it in his jacket and picked up the coin. Sonic paced around the room, Zero watching him and never taking his eye off him. Zero’s left eye twitched again.
“I remember you, Sonic,” Zero growled. “You killed Giga Bowser back in Saffron.”
Sonic grinned. “Yeah, that would be me. What a fun little struggle that was. Quite pathetic, I must admit; went down without any real effort.”
Sonic wrapped his left arm around Zero’s neck and aimed the gun at his head.
“Now, listen to me. From now on, I’M running the show. Tell your little friends over there that they work for me now...or you won’t like what happens next.”
“Hmph,” Zero scoffed and snapped his fingers, vanishing in a puff of blue smoke. He reappeared from behind Sonic and attacked the blue hedgehog, sending him hurdling into a wall and hitting the floor. Sonic got up and leered at his foe.
“Please, Sonic; if you had THAT much bravado, you would have killed Doctor Eggman years ago.” He held out his right hand. “I, on the other hand...” and smacked Sonic aside. Sonic rolled on the floor and picked himself up, and stumbled into a wall. “However, I will let you get the Griseous Orb... BUT, you must report back to me the instant you find it. Kapeesh?”
Sonic gave a weak nod, and Zero snapped his fingers. The blue hedgehog vanished in a puff of smoke, and found himself in the Distortion World. The entire dimension was just one giant confusing puzzle. There was a waterfall connecting to pieces of land together, yet the way it was flowing made it look like you could ride down it, despite the fact that the waves were moving upwards. There were rocks phasing in and out of view randomly, and the same went for trees.
The atmosphere had absolutely no feel whatsoever. There was no air. No distinct scent. The clouds just spun around in a giant loop, closing in on each other as they went deeper into the dimension like a tornado.
“What the hell...?” Sonic wondered. He approached the edge of the platform and saw several smaller ones faze into view in front of him. He leapt across them and found himself on another platform with the Griseous Orb directly in front of him. It fit in the palm of his hand. He then vanished and reappeared in the room where he first left.
“That was quick,” Zero sneered, and held out his hand, to which Sonic merely slapped.
“What, you really think I’m going to give you the Orb? Ha!” Sonic scoffed. “Unfortunately for you, the Orb is mine and mine alone. Now if you’ll excuse me…” and dashed off before Zero could even react.
“Shouldn’t we do something?” Marx asked, slightly panicked.
“No. Let him have his fun.”
Zero meditated quietly in his room. He floated above the ground, legs crossed, and hands on his kneecaps. His cape floated behind him as he sat in total silence with his eyes closed. Gliscor floated into the room, disturbing him.
