Everyone has their roots.

This.. little bit of information is the only thing left on the internet to signify many years of my life. Friends I had long gone, so many childhood years and happiness sitting in front of my computer. My life not had been one many would find ideal.. but I was happy.
The Nintendo Nsider Forums was actually run by Nintendo.com and official Nintendo of America staff. It was a place you could not only meet tons of fellow Nintendo fans, but a place you could talk with the employee's of Nintendo and you found out that yes, they were human. And just like you.
This might have been a big reason for the level of activity on Nsider, but this isn't what kept me.

Look at that. I look down this list and almost get a tear in my eye. So many forgotten friends, so many people who my only remaining memory of is their screenname on this list. Maybe you would take in the level of post count. With that many posts I was still number 660 on the list. This was the most active community I had ever seen. If you wanted to talk to a large amount of people no matter the time of day, this was the place.
With so many different people, the place never seemed quiet. It was always fun, always something new to expect, always something new to talk about. The games the official staff thought up were wonderful, everything always felt like it mattered, and despite having some rankist tendencies, they truly knew how to run a forum. I will admit that every forum I join I try to bring some of the magic that this place had to it. Because they did it right. They had one of the most amazing communities ever.
September 7th, 2007 many members woke up to sign back into their home to find it. Gone. No warning, no notice. It was suddenly gone. In replace was a notice telling everyone that Nintendo had decided to close it down indefinitely. Whether this was because of the change in how Nintendo Power, it's official magazine was being handled.. or the many other speculated reasons.. no one really knows. But this was huge.
Imagine if you will for a moment, signing on here to find it suddenly gone. Many friends who you never really thought you would need to memorize their e-mail, or their screen name on other places, now unreachable. Almost no trace of the place you called home for so long. Your PM's gone. Your posts gone. Your memories vanished. I am not alone in finding this one of the saddest days in a long time.
When I first signed into and created my account, I had the name TEA_GARDENER9, to which my mother found out after a month and forced me to actually whine to the Nintendo Staff to get to change. People would instantly look at me and think I was a girl! I don't think my mother realized this was the point. After spending 2 days working on my new screen name (as you were never allowed to change it) I decided on ADEPT_OF_HYRULE. I wanted to make a name that would stand out. I was obsessed with Golden Sun at the time, plus I loved the definition of Adept. Then Hyrule was mostly just thrown in for Nintendo fun, but I loved Wind Waker when it came out too.
(As a side note, I only expect SLE to actually know who Te'a Gardener is. ;D )
Well all in all, I posted this because I was thinking about it again. Everyone has their roots.. you know? I know for some of you.. this is it. But I want you to know that you'll miss it while it's gone.. so never let go unless you feel like you can do so without regrets. I'm glad if I somehow help make it better for you in the process.
And I hope when your older, you can think of this place.. and maybe you remember me along with it? That would make me very happy..
But I hope we are friends for a long time to come.
