C+P from Staff Lounge.
Read this whole post before posting okay? <This you.
I'm interesting in reviving the Clan sub-board and introducing yes, Clan Wars to the forums.
I've seen how much these things can really bring a forum together, give everyone a whole lot of laughs, and just make everything active. But things have to be done the right way. The only reason they failed in the past is because things weren't done in a correct way.
There are steps I want to show you on how this could work for our boards, the first being a set of rules being applied to Clans board section itself.
Clan Sub-board Rules
1. This is the only section where both flaming and spamming can be allowed, on certain guidelines.
Uncensored cursing is still not allowed. Racial, status, or anywise hurtful slurs are still not allowed. Please remember that this is for fun and any flaming that is deemed a personal attack on a person can still be reviewed for a possible ban.
2. A Clan must be led by a Staff Member unless otherwise leader is a approved leader for a clan. To be approved you have to generally be a member that has never caused trouble in the past.
3. A Clan cannot have more than 5 members. (Keeps things fair, and means that multiple Clans will be formed instead of just one or two big ones.
4. You can only belong to one clan. Easy enough.
5. Upon creation of your clean and the minimum of 3 members joined, you will receive your own sub-board. You must name your clan, (preferably upon a Nintendo series unless given permission, again) and lock the sub-board with a password. However, this must have something to do with the name of your clan.
The password will then be PMed to me, to promote fairness. I will leave password hints on the board, adding another every week until the password is cracked.
You may suggest password hints to your password if you wish.
6. Upon cracking of said code, the clan that was broken into must keep their password unchanged for 24 hours, and is free range for all sorts of bashing, modifying and general spamming and havoc being caused. This is why you want a Staff member on board anyway, so they can modify the main page and generally just cause all sorts of fun.
7. Everytime you break into a enemy clan, you receive a point on the leader-board. The highest clan on the leader board get's some sort of prize.. (I could use help with this.., we need something worth playing for.)
8. You can kick a member out of your clan with a majority vote spread. If you believe that another member would be a better password solver or just a better over-all member, conduct a vote to get rid of one of the members holding the current spot.
More rules to be added.
What do you all think? I think this would be a fun game, and I think I've presented a solid foundation of rules to keep it from getting out of hand.
