Hmph.
Arietta felt lost.
Although her face was blank for a few moments after she gave him a smile, but it was a sad gesture. The kind of smile that a person might make, seeing an old friend.. one who has moved on and made a wonderful life for themselves but your part of it ended long. Even if you hadn't been ready, or hadn't wanted that.
Some happiness to be sure but with a deep sense of loss. A smile that hurt to make.
Arietta thought she had promised herself that smiles like this were a thing of the past.
"You're welcome." she said softly, her voice sounding like the soft little princess of old.. and felt herself nearly break. Her face was expressionless again, but inside it hurt. What was she doing? She was no longer that princess, and the kind of girl who might have onced helped a hurt man on the corner.. that girl was gone. She was a demon wearing her skin.
This act that she was playing was disrespectful of the dead.
She was only broken out of her trance by his sudden reintroduction to the ground, and could only stand back in surprised as he started to scream out again. Whatever demons possessed him and taken hold again, and he cried out in pain. She felt her heart weaken again, as she couldn't help but remember moments of her own weakness. Moments that made her feel connected to this person.
It was then that she made the obvious realization that she hadn't been the only one who had noticed his display.
"No! Back off!" Arietta growled. "Mind your own business!" she said these words before he stood back up, standing in front of him.. growling as if she meant to bite them. She felt defensive over this person. Her stance was sure and full of fury, as she got everyone who saw fit to come near him to move away. Although their oggling had not stopped, they maintained their distance.. shocked by Arietta's display.
Her friend shortly picked himself back up, just as suddenly as he fell.. and walked as if nothing had happened. Not any breathing, not a mention of it happening, just moving with purpose again. It reminded Arietta of some sort of possession, as if the painful screams were someone breaking free.. only to be re-controlled. She continued to make note of his behavoir but didn't mention her worries. Her own thoughts and information were her own, and she felt no need to share everything.
She could not see that he noticed the others, but he eventually asked why everyone was staring. "You fell down again for a moment, in pain. Don't concern themselves with them. They do not matter. No one else matters. Focus only on yourself, on dealing with your pain, and ignore their opinions and their rude meddling."
"The place I'm staying isn't too much further."

So, something DID happen. He honestly had no memory of this happening, and he had no intention of keeping that quiet, in fact he didn’t! “I what? I…don’t recall falling, or being in any sort of pain. If I did, I somehow immediately forgot about it.” he says as he places his hand to his head. Suddenly, he recalls hearing the word “don’t” but didn’t understand what it meant. He began to wonder, did this actually happen once before? Thinking back, when they first met, she had a sort of shocked expression at one point, after being perfectly fine a moment before. As something going on with him?
What she said following her explaining what occurred bothered him though. "Don't concern themselves with them. They do not matter. No one else matters. Focus only on yourself, on dealing with your pain, and ignore their opinions and their rude meddling." That didn’t feel like the right advice to follow. For some reason, he felt this opinion, was one NOT to state out loud. For the time being, he would just keep quiet, and dwell on her words as they make their way to the place his little princess Ari was staying.

"Huh." she said, shrugging a bit. "Is that so? That's.. not good.. your memory still seems shaky."
The awkward silence in the air was thick as the continued to walk back to the place that she had been given to stay to. Arietta's head never turned towards her companion, she only looked straight forward. She made sure to stand a bit in front of him, guiding him.. although if his memory was not rocky he probably could have recollected that it was very near where they had originally met.
She unlocked her door, and walked inside.. no lights were on at all and the room was pitch black. If there was any windows to speak of, they were being blocked. "Did anyone try to come in while I was gone?" Arietta spoke in a stern voice to the night. Even if he had bat vision and could see into this pitch blackness, the person she was talking to was hiding from sight.
A soft, scared voice rang out. "No.. no one.. I watched the whole time.. I.. I missed you.."
"I know." she said plainly, snapping her fingers.. and then flicking on the light and motioning for him to come inside.
The room might seem rather interesting to some. Nearly everything Arietta owned seemed to fit in an entirely different world, and it was true, that's where she had come from. If he hadn't believed that she was a princess, it might have more weight to it now. Her things looked like the things a princess of a fantasy world might own. From dusty old-fashioned tomes, to some fancy old-fashioned gowns, to an tea set with an ancient sort of design.. but still looking almost far too new. There was a few pieces of more modern things, and they stuck out look a sore thumb. She was often dressed in modern clothes, and had adopted some modern language habits.. so it was obvious she had spent some time away from her home as well.
The source of the voice that Arietta spoke to was nowhere to be seen.. and before he could even question for it she said. "Don't worry, it's just me and you." and she moved towards her couch. It seemed as if this was a familiar spot in the room for her, books were laying at a nearby table with a plate of half eaten treats, and a glass of something that was nearly empty.
"I don't like the ugly light in here. I miss my old fireplace." she said, sighing as she plopped herself on the couch. She sat on it, sitting on it with her legs curled against her chest, her hands wrapped around them. A moment later, she lifted a delicate finger towards the bathroom. "I have a full length mirror in there. Don't trip over my clothes, thank you."
The bathroom looked very much like a young girl owned it, products and clothes were strewn about each way.. it was obvious Arietta put a large amount of effort into taking care of herself. Which might be seen as odd, the girl who had just gotten through telling him to not even concern himself with others.. but who was she dolling herself up for each day?

Princess Ari’s home. He somehow expected a castle, palace, something huge. He started to think, maybe she wasn’t REALLY a princess? Just acting like one. Honestly, even if she would tell him then and there she was actually just a bratty child, he would not care. He would continue to stay with her if that was what she desired for the simple fact that she willingly helped him out, a total stranmger, when he had just awoken in a strange place. Plus the fact she was adorable was also part of what what keep him staying by her side as well….
They entered, and he was slightly confused by the voice. "No.. no one.. I watched the whole time.. I.. I missed you.." The voice sounded…adorable! She sounded scared, but could not pinpoint where she was. After she snapped her fingers, and turned on the lights, he was immediately going to ask, but was interrupted before he could. "Don't worry, it's just me and you." He sighed and watched Arietta do what she was going to do, plop on the couch and sit in an adorable manor. He would stay by the door, and observe his new surroundings. Her place had some very pretty, and even unusual items. He knew nothing of any of it at first glance, but he figured the time to check the stuff out would come later. Some of those old tomes looked interesting, he could take a little time to learn a thing or two, if he could manage to retain any knowledge he absorbs that is.
"I have a full length mirror in there. Don't trip over my clothes, thank you." A mirror. She said she wanted to see what he looked like, more importantly; he needed to look into a reflective surface to see for himself. So he was invited ho his princesses place to check it out. Kind of an interesting move, considering what he looked like, if someone saw him and a young girl like her entering the same house, the wrong person may think he is some sort of….whatever. That was not important, what was, is seeing what he needed to see. He began walking in the direction pointed to. ”Thank you, I appreciate it” he spoke politely as he walked. He found the bathroom easily, having to watch out for her clothes on the floor. For a princess, she was sure messy! But again, that mattered nothing to him. He had no place to judge, so he wouldn’t.
What he saw frightened him. His eyes grew wide, and he started shuddering. The black robe was nothing like he had ever expected. No matter how much he stared, he was cloaked from top to bottom, sleeves, legs EVERYTHING was covered in black! He only saw his eyes. He backed up slowly, until he would back into the toilet. For the first time, he would see the black aura rise from him ”I said don’t didn’t I?!”He immediately grasps his hood and tries to take it off. He stands up, and finds himself slamming into the shower, breaking the glass. Stuff fell off shelves from the impact, and he could be heard screaming at the top of his lungs. ”GET OUT OF MY HEAD! AND GET THIS DAMN THING OFF ME!” he screamed. He pulled and pulled, and found a strong resistance. He didn’t remember to close the door, so he would ram into the wall right outside the bathroom, possibly knocking other important things over. With that, he falls unconscious. He was unable to move, yet still grasping onto the hood. Somehow, just seeing what he was wearing induced panic, all in all, he succeeded slightly. The hood would at least reveal a child’s face, and blue hair. He was dead asleep, but the hood would not come off completely, but at least his face was visible.

Arietta shrugged a little when he thanked her.. her face looking a little soft, a little bit of red on her cheeks. He kept thanking her.. but she wondered how much of it was just social graces. People saying things because they should, because they knew if they didn't say such things they were 'bad'. She had learned to distrust such things.. to distrust people. His words right know where just words.. even though deep down she hoped they were more.
She still felt stupid for such hope though. She sighed.. for just a moment, before she heard him shout.
Then, quickly, against all sense of reason.. she rushed in. She watched him slam right into the wall, as the things on the shelves quickly started to scattered all over the floor. A delicate dress she had sitting on the floor, usually not something she had to be worried about with her own delicate little feet.. she could hear it cry out in pain as the motion of his feet ripped right though it. Her attention though, beyond the sounds of tearing and the things moving in her peripheral vision were on him though. She was concerned, as unnecessary as such a feeling was.
She let herself sigh again as she stood over him a few seconds later, at least glad that unconsciousness kept him from causing any more damage. To her things, of course. His face was revealed, but it contained no information in it. She.. was perhaps a bit happy to see it, to see a face staring back at her.. to feel like their future interactions would have a face she could analyze tied to it.. but the youthful face was something she could have guessed. The male face too.
She tapped her feet, deciding for a moment about trying to get him to her bed. She would have to do it herself, Knight of Flaming Armor having the sort of grip that this boy would probably not appreciate. She gave him a death glare, angry at him for a moment for putting her in a position where she had to feel like a jerk for not wanting to tier her delicate and beautiful self out.. and decided against it. Nah. He would wake up right there on the floor. She collected what remained of her clothes, and left the room. She might have gone soft, but she wasn't about to exert herself any more then was required.
He hadn't proved he was worth it yet.
