Time to whip out my Star List...
Star opinions on a good forum
1. A site where members actively post and discuss a wide variety of topics.
2. A site that has many different activities for everyone to do such as online gaming, RP, neat little thread games or trivia.
3. Constructive debates > Arguments or flame wars
4. Staff members are always active and would be willing to help if they have free time. Also staff members that go by the rules and don't let personal grudges or vendettas get in the way.
5. A friendly, mature chat system or any kind whether is be c-box or something else. A nice friendly play for people to talk.
6. More women

Depends on what you mean. Like the theme of the forum? If so, I'd like a general Video Game forum that just happens to have a focus on Tales and Smash Bros.

The Staff showcase thing like you all have
A layout similar to what you all have
The Postys, and our RPG staying
Boards and Categories of interest to each site so that each are equally represented
A spot for our brawl hacking
a c-box with set hours for "kid firendly" and "mature"

More women Adding to this, I would expect to see RP sections for each side of our fanbase: one for Smash-related RPs and another for Tales. Maybe have another for a merging of the two, and then another for RPs that fall in no category previously stated. Also, for me the theme and layout of the site will have to be sleek, clean, and professional-looking. We really need to make sure that the new forum will be appealing to anyone who steps foot inside.

I agree with both Star and Kune. If we happen to leave the shop, I think we need to add more options, and I wouldn't mind seeing a SOTM (Sig of the month). I believe that's all I have for now.

I think another addition we need is an IRC client that will work for the entire site and not just the staff (as it is now here).
We all know that IRC is only text and that we can't have any spiffy avatars or funny smilies, but I think this lack of customizability could have a positive effect on how forum users use the actual forum part of the site. They may pay more attention to their signatures and avatars and might also post more. This way I think more people could participate in the SOTM idea that Mama suggests.

I'm honestly opened to sacrificing the chat-box for the IRC. Sometimes the chat-box gets more activity then the actually forum, which is freaking depressing.

Uhh..
Seriously?
I don't see the plus over getting rid of what get's us activity and putting in something which seems like your saying it's only plus will be being less fun in order to force people to post on the forum more. Yes, we want more posts but both sites are used to posting on a c-box and I personally think we shouldn't try and change what makes both sites active.
One thing we could do though is move the c-box off the main page and giving it's own page.. that way it's not so.. right there all the time.

The reason no one is posting on the forum is because nothing is being discussed. The c-box is used for quick conversions. The forum is used for topics with length responses. There is no need to get rid of it. Also I disagree with Angel suggestion as well. The c-box being at the bottom of every page is very convenient and easy to access. I'm against putting it on another page where people would have to backtrack and navigate to just to talk. I can write my RP posts and chat at the same time. That's love miss..

I agree that the only thing that keeps people from posting is that other people don't post giving no one anything to talk about and that this forum doesn't make a bigger deal about posting and other things. I think that if there was a core bunch of people that just sat around posting and giving other people something to talk about.. then things would naturally just get more active around there.
I recently joined a forum where a couple of people including me posted 100 times in one day just because there was just so much to talk about.

People will post if discussions are made. There is no need to mess with the c-box at all. Leave it be and lets focus our attention on giving people something post about. Also Angel If a site has no kind of chat service of course they're going to post more. Thats their only form of communication.
