[SSS HQ: Yoshi, other smashers, whoever decided to go in the portal]
Yoshi and the rest came out in the Portal Room on the 2nd floor of the HQ. Yoshi, still holding the glowing yellow orb, led the rest to the place where the red and blue orbs were in the wall, and dramatically placed the yellow orb in the next empty spot.
Not too surprisingly, another staircase appeared in the portal room, leading even higher. Yoshi and the rest went up the stairs to find a whole new floor; they were currently in another lobby-like area with hallways leading off in four directions and doors in those hallways leading to other rooms.
Everyone began to scatter, exploring new rooms such as the library and the Pokemon Care Center. But Yoshi felt a strange presence coming from a door at the far end...he walked slowly over there, and found a rusty ancient-looking door made of battered metal. Yoshi cautiously opened the door, causing it to squeak loudly, and found a very strange room inside, but one that he remembered Luigi describing...
It was very dark, and rather small; in the corners were dead plants and old drawers. And in the middle was a foreboding circular table with a mysterious purple cloth covering a sphere-like object underneath. Above the table was a lacy canopy not unlike an umbrella; colorful beads decorated the edges.
But most importantly, on a chair pulled up to the table was a ghostly figure who looked just like this:
It was Madame Clairvoya, the mysterious fortune teller whom Luigi had encountered and eventually turned into a painting some time ago...
Yoshi was very surprised. "Hey, everyone! Over here!" Most of the people who were exploring the 3rd floor followed Yoshi's voice and entered the strange room, looking just as surprised as Yoshi was.
Madame Clairvoya appeared not to notice them for some time, but then slowly looked over at them. She spoke in a soft, calm, misty, and echoing voice:
[glow=pink,2,300]"Enter, if you wish. I have not seen a visitor here since I was released from my painting..."[/glow]
The group slowly and carefully entered the room, encircling the ghostly fortune teller and staring intently at her.
[glow=pink,2,300]"Yes, thankfully the professor was kind enough to release me alone from my illustrated captivity, since I had been an aid to Luigi on his quest...But having nowhere to go, I found this room, which suited my needs well...tell me, why have you come?"[/glow]
Yoshi stepped forward and spoke shakily, "Um...well, I felt your presence, and was wondering if you could help me find my friend who was engulfed in a Subspace Bomb. His name is Bob Snicket...?"
Madame Clairvoya's mystic aura impressed all around her, and in the silence she spoke again.
[glow=pink,2,300]"Ah, yes...Snicket...I have followed his trails closely on my crystal ball...he is a strange one, to be sure...and I was not at all surprised when he decided to put the world before his own life..."[/glow]
"Wait," Yoshi said, "he's not...dead, is he?" Yoshi was now shaking.
Madame Clairvoya laughed softly. [glow=pink,2,300]"Oh, no! A Subspace Bomb won't kill you! It will simply send you...to Subspace. Now I presume you would desire me to tell you how to get to this place...but there is only one way, and not a very high chance of getting back...otherwise Subspace Bombs would not be feared so..."[/glow]
"Yes," Yoshi said immediately. "Tell us how to get to Subspace!"
[glow=pink,2,300]"I cannot. But I can contact the Spirits which may find it reasonable to bestow such knowledge upon me...[/glow] Madame Clairvoya then whipped the cloth off the table, revealing her crystal ball, which glowed with bright white light and was filled with swirling mists...
The fortune teller then closer her eyes and began making strange hand motions. [glow=pink,2,300]"Spirits above! Spirits below! To Subspace these travellers desire to go! The path is hidden, and the ways unclear! Reveal these secrets so that all may hear!"[/glow]
Everyone gasped as the room began shaking, and suddenly Madame Clairvoya's eyes opened with white light emanating from them. She spoke again, in a harsh and very distant voice which sounded terrible as it reverberated off the walls.
[glow=pink,2,300]"To the icy mountains you must go, to where the night sky reveals a rainbow glow. Trouble will come and ice will crack, but when it does, you'll know you're on track..."[/glow]
She then returned to her original self.
Yoshi asked, "So...the summit of the Icicle Mountains, where the Northern Lights glow?"
She nodded. [glow=pink,2,300]"Very good! You are no doubt the wisest of your kind..."[/glow] She then stood up and looked around at the others. [glow=pink,2,300]"What would you be willing to do? What would any of you be willing to do?...to bring back...resourceful Bob...Would you travel to the ends of the earth, go where no one else has gone, and where no one else has ever returned?"[/glow]
There was a moment of silence, and then Yoshi, with a fierce looked of determination, shouted, "Aye! I will go!"
Kirby shouted, "Aye!"
"Aye!" The Ice Climbers said simultaneously. "You'll need us to reach The Summit!"
"Aye!" Waluigi said. Everyone looked at him in surprise. "What? He helped me not get killed by Karocka..."
