First off, I would like to thank you for your participation in the “We need the member’s voice” thread. However I have something important I must tell you. And I request that you read my FULL POST before posting.
The cake was indeed a lie.
That’s right, that entire thread was a social experiment to see how you all would react to things given the recent bout of circumstances. I, and I alone am responsible for this and I do thank the staff for following through with a few posts that would make it seem as though we really had gone through all those ideas. I did have my initial thoughts about what would happen but you all went above and beyond my initial ideas.
Why would I do such a thing? Well… my methods are mad. I do not follow the norms of modship nor adminship. I do things my own way, and any way that I can attempt to teach a lesson and laugh at those whom I am teaching I will do. Thus became this experiment. I wanted to examine the psyche of our members, especially those that like to whine and complain about the mods, RP, and site in general. It is my belief that only once you gain a greater understanding of the people you are “up against” can you truly find peace without warfare.
First, allow me to talk about the 7 options that I presented you with. Every last one of them is absolute BS and are terrible ideas all around.
1. Old Mods – Wow this is terrible. Angel is the heart and soul of the staff and the entire site almost. She also is a “beacon of light” for the members. Why in the hell would anyone want to vote some way that would remove her when so many people back her up daily??
2. – New Mods – I LAUGH no offense to anyone here but KoD got voted out before, Kune was figured to be a “favorite”, Sharpay isn’t active enough, Star hates staff, and Lloyd and drake cause enough trouble without meaning to again TERRIBLE idea
3 – Trash the RP – All that hard work gone down the drain? HORRIBLE
4 – Get rid of C-box - Worst thing I’ve ever heard of yet it still got a vote
5 – Fuse with another fourm – Although I see a certain appeal to this, this is once again a TERRIBLE decision. This place is about smashbros, it is our one and only place, our home. Why would we want to chance ruining it by brining in a bunch of people who think we should change stuff even more than it’s already changed. No… just no
6. Stricter Banning - LOL
7 – Very Few Rules – Again terrible. The entire place would be total anarchy and out of control no just freaking no
Now let’s examine what you all did and what that means ultimately without half-ass excuses. First of all many people think there are deep seeded issues with the staff and site. I don’t believe it is near as bad as what it has blown up to be. Many other people appear to be oversensitive to slight irritations. As I stated above all 7 of the ideas were absolutely terrible pieces of garbage but yet MANY of them got multiple votes. This leads me to believe that people around here WANT to think something terrible is going down. I know each and every one of you will say that you don’t want terrible things to happen on the site, but only someone who is willing to think the site has sunk to a new low would even really think that those options were a good course of action.
Another thing that the voting spread shows me…. No one voted for stricter banning rules. This was the single thing that got no votes. And why is that? It’s because of this inbuilt ideology of most of our members that the staff are terrible and that the staff are the bad guys. If that were true, every staff member would have gotten on there and voted for that. But the fact that 0 votes were for that show that not only do the member think of most of the staff as terrible people, but it shows that the staff truly AREN’T terrible people they don’t want to run rampant and be thought badly of. I don’t know how many times I have to breathe this down people’s throats. The staff are not the bad guys. We are here to try to help you the best we can. Sure one of us will screw up on occasion, but overall we try hard. We were chosen because others felt we had the leadership abilities, knowledge, work ethic and/or maturity to be staff. Maybe next time you should sit down and look at yourself before blaming the staff for everything. I can guarantee that if the staff weren’t so often treated like a pack of flea-ridden mongrels that we would more often reach out our hand to everyone for additional guidance in… almost everything.
Yet another thing that the vote spread showed me was…ultimately many of the people who spread terrible things about the staff and site in general voted “do nothing” If people really were demanding something change they wouldn’t have voted that… they would have voted “my own idea” and said that something needed to change. Which yes this could be considered a technicality but it’s still funny that we are having so many problems yet the majority vote is for “Do nothing”
Along those same lines, ONLY Drake and Lloyd actually posted some form of additional idea. Which yes Lloyd’s was a combo of my terrible BS ideas, and Drake’s was just as epic fail as the rest of mine… but they were the ONLY ONES posting some idea to help. This action subconsciously proves that a lot of people want to bitch, but noone wants to try to aid the situation. No one is thinking of anything. They want someone else to do the thinking for them while they sit around and yell about how bad someone else’s idea is. That’s stupid. If you’re going to gripe and complain, at least SUGGEST something to make it change. Work together with a mod or a fellow member to create an idea. Anything other than sitting around and whining. That’s why we have such a problem. Too many people bitching and no one really trying to help.
Now as I said before, you all did NOT react the way I expected originally. I thought that people would get mad initially and blow up. But instead it was a slow trickle. People actually took this stuff SERIOUSLY, then it started snowballing into people saying they will quit the site and all this other nonsense.
I must also admit. Part of the reason I did this too was to teach a lesson about spreading rumors. I was SURE that I would have heard a few rumors about this thing by now but I guess they must trickle through the right pathways to get to me. I wanted to hear all the rampant rumors of how all this BS and this BS is gonna go because literally this week I have gotten 3 out of proportion rumors back to me about myself or my activities. First was in reference to my blow up when I said I wanted Kune to be in staff then I hear about how the staff are showing favorites and that the whole vote is rigged. Secondly I stated that I wished to add new elements to the site. That’s all I said. I agreed that new things should be added. Then I get about 6 PMs asking me why we are fusing forums with another and begging me not to do it. And the 3rd, I said “I see a time on the horizon that the site will be without me, now just to find out how long it takes to get there” Which is as vague as saying “one day I’m gonna die” but so far I’ve been asked 3 times TODAY why I was quitting the site as if I’m deleting my profile.
All this behind the back garbage has got to end. All these false theories about how terrible something or someone is needs to GO. It is destroying us all and affecting our judgment to the point that people would take seriously a thread full of total horse shit. Do you see what has happened…what has happened to us all??? We need to stop this and be friends with each other once more. No more rumors, no more BS.. just good friends talking to good friends. I am sorry that my craziness led to this but I found this to be more effective than alternatives I could think of. We, as the staff really DO want to help. We always have. And we DO want to know of any ideas that anyone could think of to improve the site. Get creative, ask questions, and work together. This is our community and only WE can make it as good as it can be.
