In my experience there are 4 types of brawl players. Berserker, Opportunist, Strategist and Masters.
Berserker: Fast and in your face. Berserker use their speed and finesse to charge their opponents not giving them the time to recover nor fight back. They believe Agility is the road to victory. You'll often see these type of players flying through the battlefield attacking anything that gets in their way. They dislike items. The only reason they would pick one up is to throw it away or prevent others from using it. Berserker treats Opportunist as an annoyance that needs to be dealt with quickly and they will often attack them at first sight. Smart Berserkers know that facing a master is like looking death in the eyes. Although their combat skills are formidable they fail in comparison to a true master. Berserkers often go with a strategist plans to give him the edge in a fight but makes sure that the Strategist never gets the upper hand.
Opportunist: Tricky and Manipulative. Opportunist would rather stay out of the battle and observe rather than jump into the fray. a good Opportunist knows that evasion is the key to victory. They will often use ranged attack to confuse and interrupt the flow of battle. Opportunist have unparalleled Item Mastery. Overall Opportunist use their evasion skills and Item mastery to make up for their lack of close combat skills or a natural weakness that their character may have. Opportunist love to mess with an Strategist and find great pleasure in seeing their plans go down in flames. Opportunist fears Berserkers and will often try to hide themselves from their watchful eyes. The Masters skills are admired by the Opportunist and they will often use them as a barrier to create more chaos between the other players but they are careful not to make an enemy of the master.
Strategist: Perceptive and cunning. The Strategist plays the battlefield like a giant chessboard. Strategist believe that Dodging is the winning tactic and believe that any amount of skill can easily be defeated. Strategist enjoy making there opponents moves fail by dodging then quickly retaliating. Strategist use items only to further their goals and never to gain an unfair advantage. Strategist find it easy to defeat a master and will often focus on disabling them. They find Opportunist to be annoying and will often see their plans go to waste because of their meddling. They see Berserkers as capable pawns in their plans and will exploit their skills to further their goals. However they keep a good plan at hand just in case the berserker gets out of hand.
Masters: Skillful and unmatched. Masters are a symbol of perfection. Masters believe skill and knowledge prevails over all. They train themselves on how to use their character and when to use their moves in any situation. Masters hate items. They never pick them, instead they learn about them and discover ways to deal with them. Masters find the skills of a Berserker laughable and will expose the flaws in their technique to destroy them or humiliate them. Masters find Strategist to be difficult opponents because they have a natural ability to read their moves. Although Masters find an Opportunist actions to be dishonorable they find that they are a necessary distraction for his enemies. A smart Master keeps the location of a Opportunist noted just in case they get on the bad end of their trickery.
The Artless: Naive and Undisciplined these players are the underdogs of the brawling world. The Artless are often referred to as the Anti-type because the have no values or tactics to their gameplay. They believe that winning is winning and with that being said the will use any means to achieve victory no matter how dishonorable or annoying they might be. They lack in skill but they make up for it using cheap moves and deceptive play. The Artless are the enemy to the 4 basic types. They are easily defeated by any type however if their opponent switches their gameplay to a style they have yet to master, they might fall victim to The Artless cheap moves.
