Well the Presidential Election has ended, and Senator Barack Obama came out highly victorious. Starting January 20, 2009, he will take the office and begin this country anew as the 44th President of the United States. Now, what I want to say is that both John McCain and Barack Obama gave fantastic speeches regarding the matter, McCain's the best he's had since he began running for President. And Obama's truly moving and giving the country hope yet again.
Personally, I'm extremely happy that Obama won this, regardless. My opinion is that he will finally lead this country out of this hell hole Bush put us in, and I truly believe he will fufill his goals for a better future for us. Now the question is: do you think he will help this country and be a great President for all?
I believe so, but I want you guys to give an honest answer on why you think he will or will not be a successful President. Please do not answer with, "CAUSE HE'S TEH AWESOMEST" or things like that, make an actually attempt at a good answer. And if you have reasons not to have him merely because of his race, out of spite for McCain's loss, or you just don't like him for stupid little reasons, than GTFO of this thread please. XD

Hey would be a good president if he dosen't get killed alot of people are saying that theres alot of hatred in America. Not saying that #1 I dont like Obama and #2 I would do something like that. But There are alot of people that discriminate and hate that there is going to be a African American president . BTW I'm African American and Im proud that obama is president and I want him to get us out of this depression.

Understandable. I'm also worried about a possible assasination, but then again; Bush was wanted dead by MANY MANY people, of all races. Yet he made it through all 8 years. So Obama could get tons of protection as well, and still be the great President we need him to be.

XD WARNING: I'm not trying to be racist at all with my next statement. All the african american people in my school wanted to vote for Obama. I asked some of them why, and they didn't even know anything about him I feel that Obama will not be a good president, considering he might not last long :/

I'm very happy that he was elected *kicks Palin back to Alaska* and I hope he can be a great president. On the matter of him being assasinated, I think there is a good possibility that it could happen (afterall he's president), but let's take a moment and think about this. George Bush was hated by even more people then Barack Obama and he hasn't been assianted (but then again do I really want Dick Chiney at the helm?) and let's also take a good look at our buddy down in Cuba.
Fidel Castro, it has been reported that there have been over 231 attempts (seriously that is a logical number if not less then how many attempts there have been) of assinating him and he has WAY less protection then any president does and he still never got assinated.
So if Barack going to be killed, it'll be 2009 if anytime really.

Well my feeling for assassination falters because of Bush being the way he was. Bush was probably the most hated man in the country, maybe even on the planet, and he lived all that time in office screwing up the place. He was not assassinated, so I'm thinking Obama will be fine.
What I want to hear though, guys, is that if he does last throughout his term, you think he will be a good president or not.

If Barack does what he says and his plans go fine then he'll dig us out of the hole Bush so happily dug and soon we'll be able to live our lives happily and not in fear of losing our homes or jobs.
Barack will be considered highly if he gets us out of this mess, and I think he'll do a great job regardless.

I am personally not happy that he was elected. I personally don't want my money taken from me and given to bums on the street. It's socialisim. Pure and simple. France is in it now, and their economy SUCKS. No I mean really SUCKS. Barack calls it change, but it's socialism. What happend to "You can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig"?? (OH!!!)
You can ask Bert about universal health care, and it really dosen't work out. I know recently my mom had surgery on her knee, and if we had Universal Health Care in place now, my mom would have to wait till April to even get CONSIDERED to get an operation. If we had Barack's heath care plan in now, my mom would be in a wheel chair right about now, most likley with no chance to walk again. People come down from Canada to Boston because they have to wait 6 months to get an MRI in Canada. (FYI Canada has universal health care, which is a policy that Obama wants to put in place)
As for the war, IMO pulling out troops is going to be very, very bad. Lets get things straight: Everybody hates war. Everybody. But sometimes it needs to happen. Obama was wrong about the Surge, and he's gonna be wrong on this one. And if you say that the war is a fuitle effort, there are no weapons of mass destruction, than read Associated Press July 7th 2008. Oh man, that article will change your opinion. ABout how U.S. troopos recovered TONS of necular material from the warzone. I won't give you the link, go out and see it for yourself.
Anyway you slice it, Obama is deffinatley in for a test. Only time will tell if he passes it.

Just like Peram...i'm not racisit...but GOOD LORD I just have a major problem with someone who won't put his hand over his heart for our flag being our leader.... as well as anyone who instantly starts using the words "re-distribution of wealth" after he won.

Well it is a pity people can't accept the change of having an African American president. Racism is one of the most horrible things in this world, just disliking someone because of the color of their skin or the way they look. I think America need to honestly pull their heads out of their asses and be happy he won. It was a very proud day for many African Americans, and many others who voted for him were just as happy.
And for those who question his methods, here's something for ya.
Bush was an absoulute horrible President that brought us many enemies and almost lead us to a second Great Depression (which we're still not in the clear for the economic status). Bush was a shameful and horrid President, and should've not served the 8 years he did.
Also Steele, money isn't taken from you to be given to bums. It's given to help those middle to lower class citizens that have are having financial trouble. Not everyone in this damned country is financially stable and life comfortable lives. That was a problem with Bush; the poor kept getting poorer and poorer, and the rich kept getting richer and richer.
