Fullmetal Alchemist
This story is so complex and deep there is NO WAY i can describe it completely. I cannot do this anime justice.
Storyline
Edward Elric and his brother Alphonse, sons of the great Hoenheim of Light, show great alchemic abilities at a young age. After going away to train with their teacher, they arrive back home to find their mother deathly sick. Following her death, Edward vowed that they would perform the forbidden art of Human Alchemy to bring back their mother. They tried to do so, but the effect was catastrophic. In Alchemy, you must give in order to receive. So in order to bring back their mother, the price was his brother Al's body, and his arm and leg. Edward managed to attach Al's soul to an empty body of armor. The thing that was supposed to be their mother wasn't exactly human. The boys burned down the house, Ed got himself a robotic arm and leg, and they went to become state alchemists under the advise of Colonel Roy Mustang (The Flame Alchemist) Edward became a state alchemist and vowed that they would find the Philosopher's stone (A mythical stone that allowed the users to ignore the principle of exchange when performing alchemy) to get his brother's body back. Along the way they found opposition, an Ishbalan (similar to our world's Jews) who could destroy anything with his arm, and several Humunculi (artificial humans) who were trying to get the stone as well. One of the humunculi ended up being in the form of their mother. They had created their own enemy. In the end, they found out that the main ingredient of the Philosopher's stone was human flesh and souls. By a series of events, Al became the philosopher's stone. As Edward died, Al used all of the power of the philosopher's stone to bring his brother back. In return Edward sacrificed his life to bring back his brother. Edward woke up in our world as Al woke up back in theirs. Al swore he would find his brother if it was the last thing he did.
Later there was a movie that eventually ended up with Ed and Al getting back with each other in our world. and they are off to stop a bomb in our world
MY THOUGHTS
I absolutely love this anime because of the depth of the characters and the story. You really get a feel for the internal struggles such as having to kill the humunculi that looks like his mother. Sacrificing their lives for someone else. Even religion is taking effect with the Character of Scar. It's the perfect anime in my eyes
