Not bad at all! I love the render, if you did that yourself.. bravo. But the colors and background nicely match and make it very cute, but professional looking. The lettering is where I end up looking a bit.. meh.. about the thing. Nothing wrong with it persay.. but I feel like the lettering somehow conflicts with the rest of the signature.. this kinda feel your were trying to get. It's fancy, but in a.. regal sort of way. A fancy, but cute text probably would have been better suited. Try, dafont.com for font ideas. You want the lettering to blend, and with your background choice.. it could have really worked out. Try positioning the letting so it's behind the fancy additions like the ribbons and etc, and use a lower opactity to make things blend better. You want the signature to feel.. right. To feel like everything just goes together, but I'm very aware that the words were pasted on, which is sad because all around this is a very good signature.
I think it's amazing for your first try. My only other beef could possibly be it's size, but since you made it for this forum that's okay. I'm partial to thinner signatures myself, but that's just a personal preference.

I was planning on visiting dafont.com soon so I could get more fonts but I wasn't in the mood to search all over to get the right one (I wanted to see how fast I could make it). Yeah I'll work on the font ^^;

ok let me first say that I have some very harsh Critique so im going to sound pretty mean but I don't mean it. so to start, its not bad. now, I say defiantly make the size smaller. maybe like 450x120ish. text draws attention away from the focal and its lacking some effects. mybe add some C4D's and alittle smuding. and try putting an outline on on the text it may look nicer. anyway its not bad for a first

I think the text is fine with this, but the color isn't. This signature is huge. Which is fine, but i guess i'd just rather them be smaller. I find them easier to work with that way too. I think it'd be a good way to start out. It's very simple, though not bad at all for a first sig of course. You should blend the background with the character, it looks much better. The lines shouldn't have the white around them. Put more to the background and there ya goooo. You can P.M. if you'd like, and i'd be glad to help. Or you could try using tutorials or going to graphic websites such as planetrenders.net. Good luck! P.S. i love gimp! I use photoshop mostly now, but gimp is still an amazing program. And easier to use too. If you needed help, i think i could, but i may have to get used to some stuff again lol. I haven't really used it in a while, but yeah.
