"No way..." Wario's jaw hung in surprise and tears of joy slid from his eyes.
"MARIO!!!" Wario and Peach yelled in unison. Peach ran to Mario and wrapped her arms around him, crying heavily and happy to see her thought-to-be dead husband.
"It's okay, Peach, I'm here. Come on Wario, give your spited brother a welcoming." Mario smiled brightly and put his hand out to Wario.
"Heheh, things never change with you, do they?" Wario wiped his tears away, climbed to his feet and shook his brother's hand. "You were always one to make big entrances and save the day at the last moment." Peach pulled back a little and looked into her lover's eyes.
"What exactly happened? I watched them run you through with that rapier." Mario smiled brightly and showed the scar that was left when he was stabbed.
"After they attacked Bowser, they went to stab me in the heart, however, Bowser used the last of his strength to pull me a little off to the side, and the rapier barely missed my heart. After we recovered, he said, 'If anyone is going to have the joy of killing you, it will be me'." Wario broke into laughter and Peach stared at Mario as if he was insane.
"So Bowser is alive too? And you made a temporary truce with him?" Peach froze when Mario nodded slowly, then slammed Wario on the head with her Parasol for laughing to much. "Shut up Wario, I really need to get this straight. Instead of defeating your arch-enemy, you teamed up with him to save us and to put the Mushroom Kingdom and the other dimensions back to normal. Is that correct?" Mario nodded again and Peach tore herself from his grasp and sat against the northern wall hugging her knees.
"Why are you so upset about this? Think about this logically, If I had defeated him once and for all, we wouldn't have the man power to fight against this threat. Believe it or not, Bowser is more help than he is a nuisance." After Mario finished, Peach glared at him, then took out the picture of them kissing. Mario watched in horror as she crumpled it up and threw it to his feet.
"You made me a promise that no matter what you would protect me. You swore that if the chance arrised, you would rid the Mushroom Kingdom of Bowser. You lied to me..." Peach spoke softly, but sternly and kept looking at the ground in front of her.
"I never lied," Mario was looking at the ball of paper at his feet and tears began to fall from his eyes. Peach looked over at him as he began to slowly shake from anger and anguish. "I NEVER lied to you, Peach. Right now the Mushroom Kingdom is in ruins, I have protected you well before we fell in love and I have never broken any of my promises. Yes the opportunity to defeat Bowser did arrise, but I chose you and the Kingdom over his defeat. I guess next time I have a choice between selfishly killing and unselfishly saving, I'll choose to run away."
"Mari..." Wario tried to speak up, but Mario looked up at Peach. His face showed anger, but his eyes showed pain.
"I never thought that my wife, the most beautiful and kind woman in the universe, would be so selfish. Good bye.... Peach." Mario turned around on his heel and marched down the south-east passage that led to Grondorvans office after treking through several large rooms. Peach watched as Mario walked away, and as soon as he was out of sight, she burst into tears.
"Yoshi...." Yoshi woke up and looked around, he could have sworn he heard Mario's voice, but couldn't see him.
We need to gather as many of your friends as we can, Grondorvan is up to something sinister! Wario, Peach, and Yoshi looked towards the western turn that they had origionally gone around and saw Mewtwo speeding towards them. Get Ike and follow Mario!
