CHAPTER 3: INSIDE THE METEORITE
________________________________________________________________________
Ness awoke to find that Jeff and Giddy had gotten up before him. It was 9:56 AM, almost 10:00.
He headed downstairs and saw Jeff and Giddy watching a news report about that meteorite, and that something was believed to be inside it.
“Whoa,” said Jeff. “Wonder what’s inside?”
“Yeah, really,” Ness replied.
“Should we check it out?” Giddy asked.
Jeff said, “Yeah, sure. We’ve got nothing better to do.”
They headed over to the site where the meteorite crashed and when they arrived, the newscaster was still putting away the cameras and microphones.
“Oh hey boys!” She said. “ How are things?”
”Fine, fine,” Ness replied as they approached the meteorite.
“I wouldn’t get to close to that,” said the newscaster. “It might be dangerous.”
“Relax,” said Ness. “It’s just a meteorite. What could be so—?”
As he went to grab it, the meteorite began to glow. Several beams of light shot through the rock and it eventually burst, and Ness and the others flew back.
“WHOOOA!” Jeff cried. “What was that!?”
The smoke cleared, and a silver-colored slime could be seen slithering across the ground. It approached Ness, Jeff, and Giddy. When it was about 5 feet away from them, it formed into a star-shaped creature.
“It’s a Starman!!” Ness cried. “How is it possible?! They were destroyed!!”
“I... I don’t know...” replied Jeff.
“Well what should we do?!” Giddy asked.
“We have to fight it!”
“How do we do that?!” Giddy asked.
“PK FIRE!” Ness exclaimed, and shot a small fireball at the Starman. It did not seem phased by the assault.
“Such useless techniques,” it stated.
”Jeff, multi-bottle rocket! Now!” Ness said.
Out of nowhere, Jeff pulled out 5 bottle rockets, and fired them all at Starman.
“PK Cross!” Giddy exclaimed, and a green light came out of his body. It hit the Starman, and it exploded.
“GWAAGH!”
BLAM!
Silver colored slime flew everywhere. It eventually disintegrated and vanished into thin air.
“So... it looks like someone has gotten their hands on the Starman technology,” Jeff said.
“Yeah, no kidding,” Ness replied. “We have to find out who got it before anymore can be created and sent out!”
“The problem is, though, is that we don’t know where they are,” Giddy said.
“True, true,” Jeff replied. “But since the Starman was in a meteorite, they must be in space. Or if not that, a really high altitude”.
“Still...” Giddy started, “How would they get their hands on a meteorite?”
“...........................Okay, so it came from space, happy now?”
“Uh, guys?” Giddy said, and pointed to the newscaster, who was being dragged away by another Starman.
“Hey! Get back here!” Ness yelled. The Starman went behind the van, and when Ness and the others arrived, it was gone.
