Chapter Five: Phantom Valley
MM awoke from his deathly sleep.
"What happened?" MM asked, clueless of where he was.
"You had your own poison knife thrown into you," David said.
"Who are you?!" MM yelped, pulling out a dagger, which was pointed at the archer.
"Oh, this is David, he saved us from the troll," Sour said.
"Oh, well thanks David...but i think we need to get on our way," MM said standing up.
"Where you need to go?" David asked.
"We're on our way to the Dark Realhm, the leader there stole my girlfriend," MM said. David smiled and muttered to himself under his breath.
"This must be one important girl for him to steal and then have send military after you!" David stated, laughing a bit."and you going after her; well that prooves that you love her, huh?" MM looked at David and then looked at the opening to the cave.
"We really got to go." MM started, "I want to be out of here by noon, and the sun tells me its about 10 o'clock."
"Can i come with you?" David asked.
"Sure! We could use an archer," Sour said.
"Awesome!" David exclaimed," Lets head to the Phantom Valley. It's the closest place with water."
"Sounds good."MM said.
The group headed out of the caves and the sun was blinding at first.
"Okay...the sun is near the South so......we need to follow it." David said. The crew headed south, down the rocky and winding path down the mountain. At the bottom they met an uninvited guest or should i say guests.
"We sawed that you killed our brother mister!" Said a troll.
"Yeah, and we gonna kill you and roast you."said the other.
"Ah, long time no see, Fatty and Stubby!" David mocked.
"Lets roast him first, hes being a jerk," Steve, the first troll, said.
"Yeah, and and roast him next!" Harrold, the other troll, said, pointing at MM.
"I'd like to see you try,"Sour said, drawing his sword. Then the trolls got angry and rushed at Sour without thinking about David and Mariomasher. MM threw a dagger at the troll but it merely bounced off.
"MM, heres a tip, find a weak spot, aim then attack!" David said shooting Steve in the neck. Steve stopped and came after David, whom shot a second arrow but this time inside his mouth. He was instantly killed. "Go save Sour!" Dave yelled. MM nodded and ran towards Sour who was trying to fend off the large and plump beast.
"Aim for the neck!" MM yelled to Sour. Sour pushed away and jumped off a cliff onto the beasts shoulder. The clawing just wasnt enough to pull him off when Sour stabbed the troll in the neck instantaniously killing it.
Meanwhile...
"I need you to go and kill Mariomasher!" a voice.
"Alright...he won't even know im real....trust me..." said another.
"Now go to Phantom Valley," said the first.
Back to the battle...
"Well, on to the valley?" MM questioned. Dave nodded and the group headed out to the valley. The route was mostly clear. there were a few minor things like a pack of wolves but no match for this trio.
The valley was reached by 5 o'clock PM. "Well, heres the valley," David said. The small group stared into a valley with purple haze, leaveless trees, and the moans and grunts of endless varieties of animals. "Lets get moving!" He said. The trio walked down the steep hill which turned into a slimy hill. once they made it to the bottom, it was humid. The air was thick and they could barely see ten feet in front of them. Occasionally, they would see a figure and then it would disappear. Soon they reached an area that was open, easy to see around in, and not as humid.
"We'll camp here." MM said. They set up camp and MM stayed to start a fire as the others went t go get basic needs. MM was using tinder when he saw the figure again...but this time he saw it wasnt an illusion. The figure looked at him, and then teleported away. "What was that?"
"You tell me," said a voice from behind him. MM quickly threw a dagger backwards and it hit nothing but a tree, for there was nothing there.
"What?" MM was puzzled. He turned foward and had a man in front of him. "Who are you?"
"You're MM right? Good. Lets begin shall we?" Said the man.
"Begin what?" MM asked,"Who are you? where did you come from?"
"You don't need to know."
"Yes I do!" MM rushed the man and sliced at him. The man was gone...his sword had hit nothing.
"Pitiful..." The man said. He was behind MM with a dagger lined up with his head.
"What....how..." MM had no clue what was going on.
"You obviously aren,t that bright. I bet you don't even know what I am!" said the man
"I don't need to know to kill you!" MM said running at him once more.
"Yes you do..." the man said. MM slashed and hit nothing again. The man was behind him again.
"oh, im gonna kill you!" MM rushed again, but when he swung, he swung backwards and clipped the mans cape.
"I see that you can adapt. I won't have to treat you like a baby anymore!" the man chuckled. "Tell you what...ill fight with my fists and you use any weapons you want!"
"Your loss!" MM and the man ran at eachother...
Chapter Six: Phantom Valley's Phantom
MM swung, backwards knowing the man would teleport behind him again. This time the man punched him right in the face.
"Can't expect me to do everything over and over can you?" The man chucked as MM wiped away blood from his mouth.
"Guess not." MM said. He swung and the man teleported behind him and kicked him foward onto his hands ad knees."You....what are you anyways?"
"See..."the man began as he walked along MM's back, slamming him to the floor,"I am what you'd call a phantom but i prefer to be called a wraith. And the names Bert. I have been ordered to kill you by means of the Shadow King. Though we do not speak his name. And now i must end you...still, with our bet on." MM was angered by all he was hearing.
"I'll just have to kill you first!"MM lunged at the Wraith and his sword was straight through his stomach.
Bert sighed,"It really annoys me when people do that to me..." He grabbed the handle and pulled the sword out of his stomach and dropped it next to him."Now, that wasnt nice..."Bert grabbed MM's shoulders and teleported high up in the air and elbowed MM towards the ground. He then teleported to the ground and as MM came close to the ground, Bert stuck his knee out and MM slammed his back straight into Bert's knee, smashing his back."Theres no way to win, mariomasher."At this time, David and Sour came back and saw MM get painfully crushed by that teleport attack.They rushed in to help."More help, huh? Well this should make it all the more fun! But since theres three of you and one of me...i get to use my weapons."
MM moaned on the ground and managed to choke out,"You pregnant dog...."He then got up and picked up his sword."Fine, but this time you're going down!" MM rushed in first, then Sour, and David stayed back to arch.
"This is where the fun begins..." chuckled Bert. David began the brawl by shooting a perfectly aimed arrow at Bert's head, but Bert teleported above David and kicked him in the face.He then teleported over to MM and stabbed him, left the dagger, teleported to Sour and punched him in the gut, teleported back to MM and pulled the dagger out. "Come on people....we aren't even trying anymore are we?"
"Damn he's good..."MM said clutching his gut.
"You said it, nobody can dodge my arrows!" David explained.
"and hes fast, really fast." Sour added."Lets group in one spot so he cant get behind us."MM nodded and looked at david.
"Lets do it..."He whispered. The trio grouped up in a back-to-back circle. "Ill cover left and up."
"Ill cover right and back" MM said.
"Then that makes me cover front"Sour said. Bert sighed and vanished. "Where'd he go?"
"I don't know but don't let your guard down!" David said. They surveyed the area, still in there spot when they hear a crackling noise from under ground.
"What the--?!" Sour began as Bert burst out of the ground, slashing all three of them.
"Guess you should have covered the ground too, sour!" Bert laughed."Tell you what, you can lay a hit on me, that ACTUALLY hurts, then ill join you....The king does get.....annoying..."
"Deal!"MM yelled as he ran and swung at Bert.Bert caught the blade and pushed MM back.Sour then stabbed Bert.
"Oh, so close...." Bert said as he ripped the sword out of him and slashed Sour's face, leaving a scratch from one side to the other. David shot an arrow into the back of Bert's head."Ugh....we've already tried my head, haven't we?" Bert dematirialized and the arrow fell straight to th ground as this dark matter piled onto the floor. Bert rematirialized.
MM waled over to David,"We need to all get him at once....the heart is the next idea of mine...."
"okay," david said. He walked over to Sour and whispered,"We're all gonna attack him in the heart." Sour nodded. David drew his arrow and pulled back as MM and Sour slowly walked foward with their swords out.
"What failing attempt are you up to now?"Bert laughed. "Which one will make the move?"
"One?" MM began," How about.....THREE!" And with that "THREE!" MM and Sour sent their swords into Bert's heart and David released his grip on the arrow sending it speeding between the two blades, into Bert's heart as well.
"*Gasp* .....urk......ugh......"Bert sat down."Pain....it's something i haven't felt.....in a long time...."
"A deals a deal!" MM said. "Your fighting on our side now."
"Serves you right for trying to take on us!" David exclaimed.
YES!You've recruited Bert, the Wraith. Press the Down-C button to make him teleport a short distance.
"Okay, you really got to stop that," Sour said to MM.
"Sorry, where to next?" MM asked.
"I think we should head North to Shadow Marsh," said Bert," Thats the next closest area to the Kingdom."
"Okay, lets go!" MM yelled. The group left due north for Shadow ?Marsh.
