Hello, Angel here. I want to chill with everyone for a second and give out the secret. The secret to getting people to like you on this forum, and maybe even in all of your internet life. We'll attack all avenues of what you do wrong (Sorry, step 0.5 is understanding that by reading this, your not popular and need serious help.) and how to get people to enjoy your existence here on the forum.
Or at least boost that popularity so you don't get death threats in your PM box anymore.
Your Post and You
This is a huge, huge, monstrous one. Despite how much you could say "this isn't fair, why should I have to spend 2 more minutes on spelling my post out," it's something that really does effect how people will see you, and may be the most important thing in getting popularity.
You could have the sexiest profile in the world, with the coolest name and one of the most unique sounding personal texts in the world and it won't change the fact that if you post like this:
"hey didja no tht i just got a ps3!!?!? guna kick ur halo plain ass!"
You will not be liked. Ever. It's the sad, sad truth in this world of the internet forum, but spelling is the thing that sets apart the cool from the lame except in the most extreme of circumstances.
Your post are not a chat, and there is no race to posting faster unless you actually are going to be posting 10 times every 10 minutes, which no one does around here. Give your post's some love, as I've said to 1000 people on the place but almost no one will listen to. A nicely written, nicely spelt and high vocabulary post will make you 70% more likable instantly for many reasons.
Most of all though, you seem smart. I could post a large post on why panties are the most important thing to a person's existence and as long as I made it fun to read and easy to read, it's going to make me look intelligent to at least some degree. If someone just thinks what you have to say is stupid, at least you will get a basic level of respect when compared to people who don't spell correctly.
It's not hard to spell nowadays. Download any new browser and you have a instant, always active spell checker that watches you while you post. Just because it doesn't understand Ganondorf is no reason to ignore it all together. If you see that red line under your word, right click it and let Firefox help you be more popular than you thought possible.
Your vocabulary is the next thing I should talk about.. and I'm going to get the help with the late and great, and popular as hell Bob_Snicket to give me a hand with this.

Simply one of the most epic thing's he's posted. Yes. Cursing is something that is alright to post when you really need to express something.. but not every post needs to be like this:
"GODDAMN!!! IM SICK O TIS SHIT!! WHY DOES EVERYONE GOTTA CENSOREDING MESS WITH ME!!! YOUR ALL A BUNCH A ASSHOLES AND ETC.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
If you say a curse word at a ratio of 1 every sentence, no one will like you because you are trying way to hard. I know that for people in the range that believe that cursing is hardcore, they love the effect it brings.
But that effect is drawn on situation.. and that situation is when a person is mad. As some people can tell you, Angel will occasionally throw out a curse word when the times get really tough, but it actually enhances my sentences when I use it because they almost never surface. When you use curse words on a regular basis, they lose all effect and become just regular words.. albeit regular words that make you look like a 9 year old. All around, it's important to make your posts look like someone likable is writing them. You don't need to conform to learn how to spell.. all it takes is a little bit of practice and hard work.
And don't be that guy who jumps on a thread and say something is completely negative and attack them. It makes you look like a jerk. Try at least, for the most part to keep the age old child rule, if you don't have something nice to say.. don't say anything at all. Balance out your criticism with something nice and you'll be a bit more likable and not look like a huge jerk.
Copying people, and doing what others do is something I think that most people think will gain them popularity. Angel does this and people like her, Sour does this and people like him, etc. etc. and so they think they need to do what they do to get themselves noticed.
When in fact, it has the opposite effect. Copying someone else makes you look like your just craving attention, or it's so obvious that your copying someone else that it just get's on everyone's nerves. It's a negative thing, not a positive. If you want to be popular, the biggest thing is to give your profile, to give your words, to give everything you do your own personal feel. Let your personality shine through, and just be unique. That's how people get recognized, by being someone that they haven't seen before.. not by doing what someone else is already doing.
A huge thing that I need to mention is you can't try to hard... and you have to know what situations warrant what. Being funny is a great way to get popularity, but being funny in moments that don't call for it and being eternally turned on makes you look goofy and unapproachable.If your always angry, or always sad, or always needy, or always something.. you'll alienate people because you don't seem real. Show people some depth sometimes and let people know that there is more to you than meets the eye and maybe they will want to explore more. Show them what makes you special and not steal what makes other people special and maybe they'll really think your someone they like to be around, and act like you want to be here and want to talk to people enough to spell out a few words and people might be much more eager to listen. It's not hard at all!
