I. Posts
-- Post length is required to be a minimum of 5-10 lines long. Failure to make it the set length and your posts will not be counted for extra activities or awards.
-- Posts must have decent quality, which means that proper punctuation, grammar, and spelling is required. Capturing personalities of other characters would generally be helpful in this RPG, and is rather disrespectful to the character owner when their character is portrayed otherwise. Failure to create quality posts, you will be taken off of the RPG and referred to our RP School until you can become an accomplished RPer.
-- Cursing and sexual references are to be kept at a minimal in RP posts.
-- YouTube links are allowed to bring music into your post, but the embedded YouTube videos are banned from the RPG. You will be warned to change it once, and failure to do so will result in a deleted post.
II. Role Playing
--Godmodding is prohibited. Godmodding, or simply godmod, by definition is controlling another person's character in any way shape or form without express permission. This includes things like forced emotional responses, speech, or contact of any form. Ignoring another character's action repeatedly is considered godmodding; such as unrealistically dodging attacks that your character would be hit by, as well as having unrealistic amounts of energy to avoid and dish out said attacks, or having the ability to do something not clearly defined in the character template. Also, your character is limited in the knowledge they posses about other characters. Characters may only know things they have experienced within the story. If you, the RPer know something but your character does not, acting on that information in the RP is Godmodding. This extends to things like knowing what another character is thinking, feeling, planning, ect. These infractions may result in a deleted post. Creating a character with disproportionately powerful attacks or attributes also constitutes as Godmodding, and will prevent said character from being accepted. If a character is approved and it is later discovered that a Godmod ability is present, RP moderators can force all posting with this character to cease until it is altered.**
--By engaging in a Role Playing Game with a large focus on combat, you agree to allow the possibility of character death. Should a character enter a position where survival becomes impossible due to the nature of the situation, and/or limitations of the character, death can occur. In such a situation, the survival of the character may be placed in the hands of another RPer, whose decision to kill or not kill the character will be treated as canon within the story and not qualify as Godmodding. If you feel that your character has been killed unjustly, you may appeal the decision to the RP staff, who will evaluate the situation for any wrongdoings.
-- No auto-hitting allowed. This means that in a battle, you may not automatically hit someone else's character in your post. You have to give them a chance to dodge your attack. Keep in mind however, that a character’s ability to dodge an attack must be consistent with their overall abilities. If there is permission for auto-hitting, though, then you may do as such.
-- If you are engaged in a battle with someone, and they have not posted in a over a week, you are allowed one, non-fatal auto hit.
III. Characters
-- A character application must follow and/or exceed the character template found in the character application section, here. Characters will not be approved if it does not meet the criteria provided. Your character application must also provide a good amount of detail, or it may not be approved. A character's personality must explained in such a way that anyone reading the application can gain an acceptable level of understanding on how the character would behave and operate.
-- Character Applications require two votes of approval from RP moderators. However, another RP mod may overrule the decision if a valid reason is given.
-- Immortal characters are banned. Longstanding characters within the RP will henceforth be required to lose the ability.
-- When posting an app for Canon characters, remember that characters that did not appear in a game on a Nintendo console characters are not allowed. (e.g. Cloud, Master Chief, Goku, etc.) 3rd party characters from games on Nintendo consoles may be allowed; depending on the character. The character must have begun in a video game as well.
-- When making a character application, don't steal characters created/copyrighted and make them your own.
-- No posting on a character application unless you are a member of RP Staff or the character's owner.
-- Each RPer is allowed the maximum of 8 characters at a time. All prior characters at the time of creating a new character must be in play. Do not ignore your other characters for new ones. If you do not like a character you've created, kill it off. In addition, you may claim up to 2 canon characters for your own use.
IV. Battle
Attacks-
Attacks are any ability designed to injure, incapacitate, or kill their target. Any offensive technique that cannot be performed through entirely natural (punching, kicking, real life physics and bodily abilities) means requires the use of stat points. (Any “supernatural” ability, and ability requiring weapons or items, ect.)
Abilities-
Abilities is a blanket term used to define any technique that is not specifically designed to injure, incapacitate, or kill their target. Any technique that cannot be performed through entirely natural means requires the use of stat points. (Any “supernatural” ability, and ability requiring weapons or items, ect.)
Stats-
All characters will now be subject to a new stat system, composed of the following:
Physical Prowess: This statistic determines your character’s physical capabilities. Strength, stamina, agility, and other physical characteristics fall all fall under this category. A character may use this stat in different ways, which will be determined by the character type. Note that this does not determine your character’s movement of defensive abilities outright, but reflects how many Physical Prowess points may be spent on individual abilities and attacks.
Magical Talent: Magical Talent reflects your character’s abilities to use magic. Please be aware that under this definition, abilities of any supernatural nature will be included in this description, even if it is not truly a magical ability. Psychic powers, prescience, demonic arts, and other such unnatural abilities will fall under this banner.
Weapon Handling: This statistic reflects your character’s ability to wield various items and weapons. Such items will require certain amounts of Weapon Handling points to use. These do NOT include items purchased in the Smash Shop unless otherwise specified.
Luck: Luck is a broad category that affects many things in combat. Lucky characters can avoid attacks that they otherwise could not, simply by being lucky. This ability is not absolute, and no amount of luck will save you from certain situations, but it does grant your character some wiggle room.
How stats work in combat
Every attack, ability, and item now requires a certain amount of points to use in your posts. Your stat level in any particular field therefore defines what you may do in your post. For example, say character A has the following statistics.
Physical Prowess 5
Magical Talent 5
Weapon Handling 4
Luck 1
Character A has a Frost Magic attack that costs 3 Magical Talent points, a rapier that requires 2 Physical Prowess and 3 Weapon Handling points to use , and a Force Field ability that costs 4 Magical Talent points.
In his post, Character A could use both his rapier and his Frost Magic attack, or he could use his rapier and his Force Field ability. He could not however, use both his Frost Magic attack and his Force Field ability in the same post, because he does not have enough Magical Talent points to do so.
Any unused points are discarded at the end of the post. At the beginning of the next post, all points are refilled.
Leveling Up
All characters will start out at Level 1 with 15 points to distribute between the four available statistics.
Every time a character levels up, they will gain 5 additional points to distribute among the statistics. Leveling up is done through posting, with your current level determining how many posts are required to level up.
Level 1-10: 10 posts
Level 11-20: 13 posts
Level 21-30: 16 posts
Level 31-40: 19 posts
Level 41-50: 22 posts
Level 51-60: 25 posts
Level 61-70: 28 posts
Level 71-80: 31 posts
Level 81-90: 34 posts
Level 91-100: 37 posts
